Poor boy, I'm glad he seemed to get a bit better over the course of the video. Thanks for uploading this, I didn't know what a rabbit seizure looked like. I feel like I gotta constantly be wary of me and my gf's duo of buns, they just seem so very delicate.
Hey I've subd because my bunny is having these. They don't look as bad as these your poor lil bun. Mine has little ones and then full on collapses . Bless your sweet bunny
Today morning my male bunny had this,,,I don't know what was that,,he Wes not able to stand up properly,,his mouth was kinda crooked, don't know how to explain....I was frickin out,, It continued less than a minute I guess,,can u pls tell me what can I do ,? Can't go anywhere bcs of this lockdown
@@Hjkgfvb Hi! So sorry to hear. To my knowledge all vets are still open and caring for animals but you aren't able to go inside with them unfortunately. Call your nearest vet and ask if they take rabbits. It may not be a seizure there is another thing called e.conniculi that could be causing neurol symptoms in your bunny. Sorry for the late reply. Hope your baby is ok.
@@JheeeTV hi My bunny had E.culi,a parasite , that's why he was having the seizure, he medicated with alben, now hes fine, I haven't seen any seizures so far
@@Hjkgfvb aww they thought my bunny had this initially but he has been diagnosed with a neuro disorder. he has clusters of seizures but there is no cure for him. however I put him on cbd hemp oil and he has far far less of them and less severe. how is your bunny now?
Sure it may not feel good sweetheart but with such thoughtful and caring godmother/godfather everything's gonna be alright. You're a brave little good boy. My warmest cuddles, pets and kisses to you Lovely Bunny 💝
My rabbit started having the same episodes, it sounded like a scream and when I checked in him this is what he looked like... It breaks my heart because I have epilepsy and I've never seen it in a pet. Any recommendations for treatment?
Tali' Zorah PR hi! So sorry to hear your both experiencing seizures. It’s been a year and a half now and he still gets them but we have reduced it to once every 2-3 months by giving him 3 doses a day of 1ml of levetriracetam. Ask tour vet about it. It’s $60 a month to maintain. I also use some CBD oil 5 drops on a cookie once and a while or right after a seizure by “creating brighter days” for pets
Our younger rabbit (10 years old, a thymoma survivor, heart disease) is also on leviteracetam 3x / day and phenobarbital 2x / day. Even with the meds, he still has seizures about 1-3 times per week, although they are much less severe than the seizures he was having before we started medications.
Im so sad about all that their bunny has this... i feel really heartbroken when i saw ...I never knew begginer that rabbit can has seizures....i wish God bless you guys...:( 😔😔😔I wanted to know which age is more common for a rabbit to show up if they have seizures?..
I don't own a rabbit but I have 2 dogs at home. One of my dogs suffers from epilepsy too and she has seizures from time to time. So far the vet has given us a few meds for her, including some sedatives (she has always been scared to death of rain, so whenever there is a thunderstorm she starts shaking and breathing hard, and most of the times she had seizures was because of thunderstorms, we don't know why or how). Whenever there is a thunderstorm we have to give her a sedative asap so she can stay calm.
I have a 8 year old buck named Bacon that looks like yours, who is going through a tough battle with E. Cuniculi! Breaks my heart to see these lil guys in distress like this. Such amazing creatures like no other! I hope your bun gets better:)
Special Needs Spacebun My poor baby didn’t make it after his fight. I came home from work today and he was gone! I’m completely devastated. My buns are my world. He lost his girlfriend last year, so now they’re together again binkying free
ive watched this a few times now these are so different from my bunny's seizures these ones here are much worse. my bunny has more absence ones but lots of them in clusters
Yeah, I've heard good things from someone elses' bunny that has seizures and takes CBD and it helps. It is supposed to help with pain and anxiety. But for us it doesn't decrease his seizures so we don't only rely on CBD
oh sweet baby. you poor thing. My bunny has lots and lots of seizures. He is almost three but its been hard to get him to this age but I put him on cbd hemp oil and it helped the seizures so much!
aww sorry you're going through the same ordeal! Astro is 4 now. We also give him CBD oil on a cookie (5 drops max) but it just calms him down. Hasn't actually helped with the seizures. We medicate him 3 times a day with anti seizure meds which has been keeping them at bay.
@@SpecialneedsSpacebun oh that's good about the meds. Thanks for sharing that with me. I find it hard not really knowing anyone with a bunny with seizures. Binkys seizures are very non typical his ears go bent he shakes and goes blank in the face. But not like full on seizure but clusters of complex ones including just vacant ones. His seizures also give him gi stasis. For twenty four hours Binky seems to forget how to eat so we have to syringe feed him which he is used to by now. If I take Binky to the vet he actually has a seizure! So they even had to teach me how to do subcut fluids on him. I think he got a fear of the vet. It's so nice to be able to talk to someone with a bunny with this illness. I joined you long ago I think when I first started the channel. Thank you for your reply it means a lot. It can get very lonely not knowing others in this position. However CBD idea did come from here :) at ten months the vet wanted to put Binky to sleep but I refused.
@@SpecialneedsSpacebun big hug for Astro. Binky will be three in march. I didn't think I'd get him to one! I bought him at just six weeks! He was apparently a single kit!
What causes these fits? And when it comes to the whole bunnies being held like a baby on its back, is it possible that the bun just prefers to be on her back.. Im a first time bun parent and was told to hold her like that so I had no idea about the issues with it.. I got her a few weeks old and didn't see anything wrong with her physically from it... But these days it seems that her back, hips and feet are very sore and sensitive.. She will actually bite and make a squeal (im guessing pain) I feel like I've unknowingly hurt my poor baby and I wish I can fix it or help in any way.. does anyone have any advice.. some dos and definitely don'ts. I would really appreciate it.. please be respectful.. I am quite gutted that I may have caused long term damage to her.. she means so much to me. Im a chronic pain sufferer myself so its very sensitive topic.. because i wouldn't wish anyone into my situation so when it comes to my baby I'm just heart broken.. shes been my support animal and so loving. She senses when im upset and doesn't leave my side, she will constantly check up on me with kisses and putting her nose under mine so gentle.. I swear she is seeing if im breathing or not.. you can't get more pure than that
Hey! My vet thinks it is epilepsy. He has been having seizures for almost 2 years now and he’s 4 in March. As for your situation it sounds like you may be “trancing” your rabbit. Research the term and you’ll find lots of info on why we shouldn’t hold our rabbit upside down like that. They are prey animals and their instinct is to be comfortable on the ground and not held. When you flip them onto their back they become so afraid that their nervous system (like our fight or flight response) freezes. Hope this helps!

We've had very similar problem and it was Encephalitozoonosis, it is the most common cause of rabbit's neurological problems.
You see a bunny with seizures. I see a bunny who is loved and supported. So long as he has your love and support he has everything he needs. ❤️
