hey, what a cool truck! you have much more possibilities for mods than we have in europe. as a troopy owner I have also to deL with the wider front axle the 70 series landcruisers have, it think since 2010 model. reson is the space needed to plant in the V8 engine. Toyota just made the front wider and left the rear untouched. on the highway there is not much effect, exept when towing. but on sand or loose gravel off road the vehicles back is jumping around, not a sfae feeling.... but there are options from 1 or 2 australian companies to do a track correction and make the rear axle wider ( unfortunately all not legal in europe, check out for ZA). Might be an useful mod for you when doing lots of off road or beach driving. Do not use spacers, very unsafe because they might come loose on corrugated roads and you can‘t check them regularly without taking off the wheels. different rim offset does kill your bearings much faster and you need always 2 different spares.... and do not forget a good rust protection for the underbody and inside the frame, from stock Toyota has nothing and rust starts immediately when diving on the beach. Hope you have lots of fun with your baby ! Cheers !
Thanks for the comment and the input. It's actually a friend's car and he doesn't do beach driving. More gravel, sand and trips to mines so under protection isn't much of a concern for him. I will definitely keep this info in mind and work it into the next Land Cruiser I get my hands on.
Brand new from the dealer. Bought and registered as a 2022 model. The owner did a crazy amount of mods and I'm not sure if he tweaked the bonnet and forgot to mention it
Yes, from Toyota South Africa. I'm not sure how it varies from Australian models but it is what comes from the factory on our side of the pond. Also, all the mods may make ita bit tricky for a normie to distinguish between the two
Hey there. It's a friend's LC79. He never gave me any of those details but he is well connected with Toyota South Africa. For the mods he got to it very soon. Most parts are stocked in stores as the 70 series is a common platform here. The Fox shocks had to be imported as they were a hard find and the BFGoodrich tyres are in shortage but plans were made to get them. Off road sports is very common here so the bulk of the mods are fairly easy to procure. Hope that helps with your question
Hi there. I don't know of any websites or dealers that sell to Zambia. But you could buy one from South Africa or Namibia and ship it up to Zambia. Might cost more for logistics, paperwork, and whatnot. Or see what Google says. Search engines get optimized for searching products to buy
Hi there. A company by the name of Bushtech Overland Accessories. They are out on the East Rand. They did the bulk of the build and a few other places here and there did all the other finishing bits
The reason for the offset wheel track is because when Toyota put in The V8 in the 79 series the widened the front but did not widen the rear
Makes sense. Thanks for the input on the channel. Appreciate it!
Can you share the Pioneer head unit model ?
