I can't understand why did India increase monetary allocations for Maldives to nearly 700 crores in the interim budget if its President has a higher tendency to lure the members of its parliament through gifts, lucrative offers and money?? He could misuse that money to buy the loyalty of the ministers in the parliament and strengthen his position. Why not reducing our investments in Maldives??

If India's influence is justified by its loans to the Maldives, then by that logic, should banks dictate individuals’ personal decisions simply because people have taken loans from those banks? Genuine support from India should not come with conditions or be used as leverage.
