Its not that anyone is *FORCED* to use Meta cars in the game, its that whenever the *BEST* cars are identified, a good percent of players will flock over to said vehicles in order to get any sort of advantage they can get to win, even if they are lacking the skills to back it up. Its not even a Motorfest exclusive issue, you see it all the time in any popular racing game. If a 'meta' is identified, players will reach for it.
I seldom drive the meta cars in Motorfest, I'd get bored to death if I largely stuck to driving a very small handful of vehicles. I prefer to switch it up, even if it comes at the sacrifice of having fewer Ws in Grand Races.
this is why balance is so important, so no cars are ever too far behind in a class
Yes meta helps, but you need skill to be able to perform even with meta, there are so much people that use meta 24/7 that get dnf''ed in 60% off the race they compete in 🤷♂

Most top 3 winners on the podium I see at the end of a Grand Race were driving meta cars. Meta cars also helped me to get to those top 3 places. Though sometimes I see off-meta cars, and I respect those players.
The player base is shrinking and everyone left are basically people that use meta or are decent at the game so the skill variance is most likely shrinking which could also contribute to the feeling of having to use meta cars.
Im seeing a lot of people say its a balance issue when its not. Ultimately its variety, no variety means every thing plays the same which would lead to boring gameplay. Add a bit of variety and players would automatically gravitate to whatever increases their chance at winning hence "meta" is born. so I agree with trigger you decide what you want to do as long as you have fun.
I also completely agree that the players are not to blame for choosing their car Line Up in the races. However, in my opinion its Ubisofts fault, because they are too lazy to balance the cars. For me personally It kills one of Main reasons for buying the Crew, The Variety Of Cars. Unless this insnt fixed, for me the Crew cannot unlock its full Potential fun-wise
as a new player to motorfest i realized really fast that i had no hope in winning a GR race unless i went meta, how ever it is still regardless of position the best way for new players to get legendery parts / XP for legends points. I have gotten quite a few of Top 10's and barely finishing the races still. but its the only mode i have gotten 4 legenderies in a race, and quite frequent as well so people should do it wether they want to do meta or not.
i like to explore and race meta slaves because of how competitive i am and i like to show my skill. the issue is when you use meta cars, you feel how much easier it is to race and it’s boring doing it every race. i feel like it kinda ruins the concept of having a huge car list when only a said few cars a viable to race. i use some but that’s genuinely because i like the car, not because it’s part of the meta
To be honest, it doesnt really matter if players are being forced to use meta anymore. At this point in the game, if you can catch the race lead (usually someone very fast) in a meta car then you can finish a race with non meta just fine anyway, winning aside.

Honestly, agreed. I have around 300 hours in Motorfest and always have placed in the top 4500 of players in the summits and usually get top 5 in grand races.
Meta is very necessary if u want to go fast and, well win. However that’s not the full story. Ur skill means JUST as much. There’s a crazy amount of people in grand races who use meta cars who still can’t even get into the top 15, with others who don’t use a meta car, place higher. If ur skill is good, than a non meta car should be drivable and usable. My favorite car is the ZL1, and it sucks to know that I can’t use it well since no one has made pro settings for that car to make it meta, but I still use meta since I want to get money, parts and go fast. For the people who say it’s not impressive to win a Grand Race in a meta car, need to shut up. Imagine ur playing against Simgii, one of the fastest Motorfest drivers, and u beat him, but in a meta car, it’s still impressive since simgii is crazy fast and it’s a massive feat as a driver to even be able to best him.
But I will say this, don’t hate on people who use meta but u don’t. U have no reason to complain bc u use non meta cars, knowing full well that if ur skill is below average, ur not gonna reach top 1, this is the same for shortcuts and resets(granted I don’t like to use resets but do anyway bc I know it’s my best shot at getting a high placement in the summits and grand races). So either use meta or don’t, but then don’t hate on drivers who are far better than u and use meta cars, bc u don’t use meta cars and have a skill issue.

Fr most muscle cars in the game (specially street 1 muscle cars) are practically unusable for competing with meta cars in GR, which is disappointing.
I feel like in motorfest the "meta" is such a big problem due to the upgrade system being very straightforward. There is no drivetrain swap no actual engine swap, so if your favorite car is bad then it's just bad even after a tune up. Compared to motorsport/horizon 5 and unbound that have MASSIVE leeway, as for motorfest if your car is st2 then it's ONLY st2 not hypercar and not rally, if your car sucks there's nothing you can do about it, I feel like that's where the hate for the meta comes from.
grass isn’t always greener. i bounce back from this game and horizon and their PIsystem has always been exploited to the max. boring to have your favorite car be a shell of its former self since it’s now AWD and has a v12 in it
People will always want to use meta cars. The crew has hundreds of cars and the developers need to have more car filtering to get people to play the other cars. They already do this in summit events.
Have grand races with like JDM or Italian car restrictions instead of just ST2 or hypercar class.
I am not a good driver, in fact I have done 5 or 6 Grand Races and have yet to finish one. I agree with you Trigger that we choose the best car/cars for the job in hand. In my case they don't work.
TCM better start bringing in new content because Forza has really stepped it up lately. I have been only playing TCM on Wednesdays.

I am not that good , and need to drive Meta to have a reasonable chance to get podium. But i often drive other cars knowing that i probably will not get more than 10th, but I just make it a race with myself to see how I can do with for intance a VW beetle. Thats fun for me
Appreciate your honest review. I'm saying this since months, but well. It all comes down to driving skill ofc. But when you care for winning/podiums (what most % do) you are accepting disadvantage by choosing a non meta car... as simple as that!!
I don't consider myself a good player, but I can win a lot with the cars I like in several categories, there's only one category that I find problematic, which is drifting because if you don't play with the hoonigan it's almost impossible to reach the top. .
Could you TH-camrs ask for a balance in the drift category like you did in the wheelmode issue?
Meta will help but if the player cant gutter or short cut hesnot winning against a sweat, its a matter of expectation
Metas have been a thing in almost all PvP interactions for a long time now... nor are they going anywhere any time soon. But, the argument against other people using metas when their intention is to win is completely out of pocket. That's like having the goal of cutting a piece of paper, but choosing a dull pair of scissors VS. a sharp pair. In the end, it's your choice.

I'm hardheaded, I refuse to use meta cars 😭 and even if i do, its because I really like said cars or they're easier to use in the class, like the hoonitron, its so easy to control for me in drift, and the tacoma is pretty stable in rally raid
I've never used the porsche or z4 (much less have them) for rally raid, but ill say in offroad races i do notice rear people catching up way more than not, i do wonder if im doing something wrong, but ill chalk it up to slipstream
But i do agree, use whatever cars you like or want to use, the game is more fun that way, to push your own limits and the cars to tustle with the best of them
Ive gotten a good chunk of podiums with the ZL1, IVT rally raid buggy 😭 and some others i cant remember, its just good to see a non meta car on the top 3 end screen
If they would actually give cars that are actually good in real life more credit it wouldnt be so bad.
It’s quite simple : a Bugatti is supposed to be faster and more powerful than a Corvette so yeah META is always an advantage overall. 😎
I like to see a podium at Ubisoft account. And meta car not always wins, its really depend, how your skills on the road is. I like a win with non meta cars.😅
I came in 15th place yesterday, that was a pretty successful run for me, I know Sid was in the race.
The game has horrible balance on how cars perform but you're not FORCED to use meta if you want to win. If you're good enough you can win with most cars that are true sleepers and competitive. No spreadsheet, no testing nothing just a pure fact. If i could win with the Supra MK4 and other cars that perform very poorly multiple times then i'm sure everyone can if they actually tried.
For me personally I love using none meta cars so I can improve my driving against meta car. Don’t get me wrong I do use Meta car time to time but I usually drive none meta cars.
Meta is just the best thing in class . If all the meta cars handled like the worst cars and vice-versa, The non meta player will still be unhappy. If you give a new player all the best cars he is still going to be last until he learns how the game handles. Agera r is meta car but it very sensitive not everyone can drive it specially someone new.
If there was a better and consistent way of earning money I wouldn’t use meta cars in GR but there’s not so I try to get at least top 3 with meta cars.
Skill is the biggest decider
Winning a race with meta isn’t impressive unless you’re bad at the game and can’t normally win

No, you dont need to use meta. You do need to have skill to win, no matter what cars you use (except the Cento which takes no skill)

I'm NOT, I'm not a META SLAVE who uses all the time, I used all dif cars what I LIKE and not what performs best.
I honestly at this point don't care anymore if i use meta or nor if i win a grand race or lose it, the paycheck of grandraces is really low and i barely do any with friends or just to test cars. If i want money, parts or XP, there's money farms for that. And even if i do get into grand races i avoid using mets cars because they're boring as hell. I don't give a single living fuck what you're going to tell me, but there are different people, those who use meta cars just to cheese out any grand race they get into, use them to humilliate and grief others and being toxic believing they're top shit or just dudes who wanna have fun using them.
I always use DIFFERENT CARS I DONT CARE IF I WIN OR NOT....THEN THE TOP3 ARE ALWAYS IN 993 F THE 993
IDK why ppl are so obsessed of sweating for wins in this game. There are no statistics/win%, the money difference between podium and place 15 is very marginal....

Without good tunes, your all over the road. Even then the cars in t1 cant compete with the focus, porsh, or audi rs2. During rally or rally raid, ive more options and can be competitive no matter what vehicle i drive.

i play on keyboard and its impossible to play without meta cars and have fun, impossible to win races if you dont choose meta cars.
so you still defend all those who stream for 2 to 3 hours and you don't even need to watch because every race is the same cars, and that's ok if someone wants to watch it, but to say "if you don't like it, play something else" is really stupid
and I don't think they have much time to try to sort it out, because when TDU comes out, I think a lot of players will switch to it, as you say, another game

What a stupid question. If they had made the performance of all cars the same as the others in the same class then it would be a real problem. Just as in real life, of course you will choose the best in a class. And nobody is forcing you to do that.

It’s not the car it’s the person behind the wheel I like to use my awoken dodge demon bc it has crazy acceleration and I got a few dubs with it shit even the Supra it’s all bout skill sum of y’all think it’s all bout the cars no it’s not meta cars can be beaten it all depends on how good of a driver u r and how well tuned ur vehicle is

Forced lol. I dont care what they use. I have fun driving all of my cars and find more joy winning in less than meta cars. Boring to me is watching TH-cam Grand Race content creators be in 1st place 25% into the race with no one even near them for the rest of the race and there are a few of yall like that and its a bore to watch. I don't care about Meta I care more about resetters that crash off bridges in front of me yet reset and be a whole position ahead of me that's annoying. So I don't care about what cars yall use it doesn't affect my joy of the game. The only time I look at the meta field is when I am choosing my cars for the first leg of Grand Race where you can clearly see what everyone is starting the race with. Podium is the goal but for me driving better, placing higher, improving technique and not making the same dumb mistakes running into stuff that I have it 200X lol.

@@Tha-mountainlol, I don't even use meta all the time and still win, at least they don't have stupid ass reset glitching in that game, and wheels are to damn op in motorfest and are abused, im a controller player and a pretty decent racer, and don't use a whole lot of meta, and usually still make top 5 or top 3, but because reset abusers and they also have wheels they are just gone and there is literally nothing you can do about it, the game was better before they added wheel mode into the game imo
Like come on. Players should be able to use whatever car they want in grand races. All you have to do is get better at the game. First it was wheel mode, now using meta cars. It’s crazy.

from my 1.300+ wins i have used 30% of my wins some non meta cars. Its the driver that makes the car good. Even beat enough meta car users with a non meta car. I wish there was a different mode from GR's that everyone needs to drive random cars chosen by the system! So peeps getting cars that they never have driven so far i guess. Would be great to see the chaotic moments from everyone in GR's xD. But yeah its about the drivers skills how they drive there car in general. What i do by myself with my GR's every GR's has atleast 2 a 3 different cars each race. I do feel bored to use the same car over and over. Using different cars all the times feels funny to see that even non meta cars beating meta cars that hard since there is a high skilled driver behind the wheels that know's what to do!💚
