- Originally, this was a Fender Custom Shop Pro Model 1107 Stratocaster finished in white.
The previous owner removed the paint.
I installed the metal pickguard, the Wilkinson locking saddles and the bridge pickup (Dimarzio Fast Track 2).
This looks like a guitar SRV would have played. Very commendable playing!
What do you think about the Fast Track 2? The Dimarzio site lists it as super bassy and dark but it sounds tight here, bit of a chopped treble, but more midrangey than anything. Sounds pretty cool to me. What value pots are you using?
I never changed the pots of a guitar when I changed pickups. So I guess they are 250k.
I had the Fast Track 2 in 3 different Strats. Although it sounds the brightest in this particular guitar I never experienced it as dark sounding in any of them. Your description as "bit of chopped treble, more midrange than anything " is very accurate to me.
It's tight sounding in every guitar I installed it in.
@@Stefan-Van-der-Pulst Ah okay cool. Thanks for the feedback, it's hard to tell which Dimarzio rails pickup would be best as a few seem quite similar. This could be best for me with 500k pots to open that treble up a little. I like the big crunchy mids it has, but sounds smooth with it.
I can't understand purchasing a custom shop guitar. Buy a good sounding strat with nitro finish have the neck refreted with jumbo frets. A lot cheaper and will sound just as good if not better.
I bought this Strat second hand, the paint was already removed by the previous owner, therefore I got it at a cheap price, certainly not custom shop prices. This Strat already had locking tuners and a roller nut and I was looking for one with these options.
