    I can't understand purchasing a custom shop guitar. Buy a good sounding strat with nitro finish have the neck refreted with jumbo frets. A lot cheaper and will sound just as good if not better.

      @Stefan-Van-der-Pulst หลายเดือนก่อน

      I bought this Strat second hand, the paint was already removed by the previous owner, therefore I got it at a cheap price, certainly not custom shop prices. This Strat already had locking tuners and a roller nut and I was looking for one with these options.

    What do you think about the Fast Track 2? The Dimarzio site lists it as super bassy and dark but it sounds tight here, bit of a chopped treble, but more midrangey than anything. Sounds pretty cool to me. What value pots are you using?

    • @Stefan-Van-der-Pulst
      @Stefan-Van-der-Pulst หลายเดือนก่อน

      I never changed the pots of a guitar when I changed pickups. So I guess they are 250k. I had the Fast Track 2 in 3 different Strats. Although it sounds the brightest in this particular guitar I never experienced it as dark sounding in any of them. Your description as "bit of chopped treble, more midrange than anything " is very accurate to me. It's tight sounding in every guitar I installed it in.

      @@Stefan-Van-der-Pulst Ah okay cool. Thanks for the feedback, it's hard to tell which Dimarzio rails pickup would be best as a few seem quite similar. This could be best for me with 500k pots to open that treble up a little. I like the big crunchy mids it has, but sounds smooth with it.

    I have this amp and a 2204 clone. Played one against the other and I was like mehh this 2203KK amp is not that great. Added a choke to it. Then I played on a proper volume around 12 o'clock and holy shit😮 This amp does not sound great at low volumes!!! But when you crank it it will rip the flesh out of your body! It is more scooped and clean than a regular 2203. Boost this puppy with BB preamp engage the beast mode at minimum level(just for the wonderful gate) And you have a killer trash metal machine.

I'm eagerly waiting for the time I can take it out for band rehearsals or gigs. I have it for more than a year now and only did rehearsals, never gigged with it...And oh yes, that Friedman Cali is a bright or should I say very mid heavy guitar, not that much bass... It sits good in a band mix but on its own lacks a bit of bass in comparison with all my other guitars. EDIT : I recently replaced the bridge pickup and noticed that this guitar didn't have the original Friedman bridge pickup in it (I should have guessed it because the Friedman Classic Plus is not a hot pickup). The original owner of this guitar put a PRS HFS bridge pickup in it (and that was in it in this video). At the time of this writing, there is a Gibson 500T in the bridge position (just trying out some pu's I have in the spare bin). EDIT 2 : now there's a Seymour Duncan Custom 5 in it.

    I don't have an (original) 2203 anymore, but I had a 2203 and a 2204 in the eighties and sold them when I bought a TSL 100 in 1998. Never should have done that. What I remember from that original 2203 compared to my 2203KK/without the "beast" is that it had more headroom. It had more bass projection and a little less distortion at lower volume (hence the more headroom; although that original 2203 was also 100W, it was a lot louder. My 50 W 2204 was a lot like the 2203KK..

  • @Stefan-Van-der-Pulst
    @Stefan-Van-der-Pulst 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @cplmac Thanks for the comment. I like both : I prefer the crunch sound of the 2203KK (can't get that sound out of my JVM), but I like the higher gain sounds of the JVM, there's more low end thumb (thanks to the resonance knob). On the other hand there is the clear note articulation of the KK at high gain settings with beast section on. So there are pros and cons.
