Portarlington had three tracks through it in old times and was much wider as a result. The platforms are rebuilt down the track. The passing loop is beyond the station on the Dublin side and the Galway/Wesport junction is on the Cork side beyond the bridge.

Being Irish and living in Manchester 23 years, I love your channel - from my visits home to Ireland on SailRail via Holyhead, the Irish railways are far better than here in the U.K., especially the DART trains and the LUAS trams - I am hoping that the Irish government extends the M3 Parkway Line to Navan and extends the LUAS to the Irish Ferries/Stena terminals via Dublin Docklands station ❤❤❤❤

Really glad you're enjoying it. I agree to some extent about the Irish railway being better than the UK but in some areas I disagree, particularly if you're travelling on an intercity train where in the UK you would be well served in most places, but in Ireland it's hard luck as trains aren't as often and are awkwardly timed in places.
As for the DART and LUAS, both are excellent transport links in Dublin and the surrounding area, but whilst Dublin has this now, several places in the UK have this and more.

Are you going to do the Least used stations in Ireland or are the timings going to be tight as the trains aren’t as frequent in Ireland than they are in Britain

All part of the challenge so yes I'll certainly be intending to visit them!

@@KTVTransport nice and I have visited Northern Ireland but not Southern Ireland , what ticket would I have to use if I’m going for the day or would I need 2 days to explore the whole of Southern Ireland?

I mean exploring Southern Ireland won't take 2 days, because some areas are harder to get to. You'd just have to get singles/returns to places as they don't have any day tickets, in some areas nearer to Dublin, trains will accept the Leap Card but it's only valid to certain areas.
