The F model might be an older tooling but but a couple of friends of mine have built these special hobby P40 kits and said they go together beautifully. I have a couple myself and they are lovely models, thanks for the review

Bottom line, I wouldn’t have known the difference in these kits without your review. Thanks.

As i know CMK and MPM are part of Special hobby,in fact they are one company nowdays,so i have P-40f that is Mpm kit, style is very similar so i wont be surprised if that kit is refreshed Mpm in Special hobby box.Decals are all for desert machines too in Mpm box….

Thanks for the review. Have you built either one of these Warhawks? The K is fron 2017, F from 2009. I have built two of the newer tooled, K and N. Special Hobby will soon re-release the F/L, but the long fuselage one, not this. And they have re-tooled some parts and also added 3D printed parts.

I built the -F over the holidays a few months ago. Its not terrible, but it does have quite a few fit issues that require sanding a filling. In the end, it doesn't look bad, but if you aren't familiar with limited run kits, it may be a bit of a struggle. I will have a full build video on it out in the next month or so. I do look forward to doing the K, as like you said, its much newer and appears to be a better kit.

@@HammerheadModelMaking thanks for the reply. I'm unfortunately all too familiar with short run kits, some of them will remain forever on the shelf of doom, some I manage to finish. Often the worst thing is the fit of the canopy, how whas it on the F model? The new tooled P-40s are really nice and easy builds, so you can rest assured there will be no fit issues. I hope the new tooled kits from SH that will be released this year, Fairey Battle, MB 210 etc, will have the same quality & fit.

@@thekinksfan5102 the main canopy and the back windows fit pretty good, but the front canopy had really poor fit.

@@HammerheadModelMaking well, at least 2/3 fit well, it could be worse 🤔

Enough spares in that -K kit to fix the issues with an Academy or Hasegawa P-40.

I like both these kits but knowing my luck, I'll miss out on the run, if I haven't already! My biggest criticism is that the transfers look very pronounced. That is such a minor blemish on an otherwise near perfect kit, that looks as if it can be tackled by both beginners and experienced modellers.

Yeah I’m excited to build these kits, and I think they should build up nicely!

Nice review! The F model looks similar to their older toolings. The K looks nice but if you really want some fantastic surface detail in 72nd, check out one of their new Emil's. Highly recommended! SH is quickly becoming my favorite manufacturer. They make a wide and eclectic range of subjects !
