Raphael got the new skill by watching hinata use her skill and copying/improving it. It isnt really clear in the anime but that is where the skill came from.

They didn't made it clear in the anime but remember how Shion's cooking tasted good? That's because her new race/skill is to literally bend the laws of the world for her convenience.
That holy barrier for example, no monster should be able to break it since it's designed to hinder beings made out of magicules, but she just thinks "I don't like it" then goes and breaks it.
In short, she became a REAL problem.
I also love the fact her cooking skills are so bad that the universe had to give her reality breaking powers to make it taste good.

Raphael can't make skills out of nothing, Raphael CAN create skills based on what Rimuru has at his disposal and the experiences he goes through, which is why Raphael couldn't create Rimuru's Predict Future Attack until after Rimuru had been pushed in his sword-fight with Hinata (they also cut that Hinata still continued to be a nuisance even after he gained that skill). Another key difference between Raphael and Great Sage, Raphael is capable of making decisions autonomously to a greater degree than Great Sage ever could; which includes deceiving Rimuru if Raphael thinks there's something for Rimuru to gain by deceiving him.
And if Raphael thinks the status quo isn't good enough.
Just to remove any confusion, Shion being a wicker only isn't some funny title she made up for herself it is a branch evolution she went through when she became a oni so she is different from the others
Also I can't fully remember but I believe all the fights had full sequences in the manga or light novel and they cut mostly in the anime so it's just shion and rimuru's
With regards to the light novel, the fights with the Beastketeers, Souei and Benimaru against the captains was only elaborated upon in a side story. The 7th novel of the LN, where this entire arc takes place, also only mentioned the results of those battles but didn't show any of it. The anime is technically true to the light novel in this regard.

To clear somethings up regarding the Rimuru vs Hinata fight similar to how Raphael would "force" Rimuru subordinates/friends like Veldora to evolve Ultimate skills, Raphael is doing the same with Rimuru by basically gaslighting him into situations in which he develops skills or Raphael is able to evolve skills that Raphael deems a must have.
Also something not shown probably for the better reason was the Soei vs Litus (Blond haired holy knight) fight most likely because Soeis non-deadly fights against women always end in him using his strings and tying his female opponents up. After the fight the women usually develop a crush towards him like in this episode in which when Litus came back from the fight she was ultra blushing. Most of his fights are this way which gave him the nickname "Roping guy" in the community, since he ties them all up BDSM style without consent and literally leaves them hanging.
Can you give me an example of when he does that in the LN or manga? The only time I remember anyone using threads to tie a woman up is when Rimuru tied up Shion when they first met.

From what I could tell by the end of the episode, Raphael was playing the whole time. She could have helped Rimuru end it early. But she deliberately prolonged the fight to copy the skills Hinata was using. Like that last attack was not unstoppable/unavoidable as Raphael made Rimuru believe. She just wanted to take it head on.
It's cool that she's making Rimuru overpowered. But Raphael is kinda unsettling to me now. Like... so now this voice inside Rimuru's head lies to him now even in the heat of battle?
SMALL SPOILER:
Hinata’s Melt Slash approaches light-speed and is an Existence Erasure. If any of Rimuru’s followers like Shion were to be hit by it, they would be *gone* gone no reviving bullshit is saving them. Even Rimuru (at least in his current power in this episode) would’ve ended up severely injured if not dead if they were hit directly. Raphael *technically* isn’t lying, just that the episode didn’t really portray just how powerful her Skill was for some reason.
Raphael compared to Great Sage is way better now at making autonomous decisions. Hey, if it benefits your master in the long-run with no risk you might as well.

unfortunately, no. Chapter 98, Rafael states that this attack can't be lethal to Rimuru and further explains that his body would immediately be regenerated through Infinite regeneration. So there's that

I definitely agree, Infinite Regeneration is a true counter to Melt Slash, it would probably just deplete an absurd amount of Magicules if it hit Rimuru.
Though, I hate how it isn't explained in the Anime, Melt Slash can even destroy Diablos body, soul and skills due to its power. (Diablo has a way to avoid it tho)@@elizavetavinokurova7624
Ulitmate skills are the pinnacle of skills from what i can tell and also rimurus beezelebub was an evolution of the forst skill he ever got that allowed him to absorb other things inside him therefore this was a huge moment show played it off weird though

Commenting to push this because it seems YT didn't notify some people. BTW Rapheal can use appraisal to study people's skills and recreate them for Rimuru. If that alone isn't enough she uses degenerate to combine the copied technique with one of Rimuru's dozens of other skills to make new skills. Also she has thought acceleration so she didn't make that shit in a few seconds. It's more like a few hours for her.
Don't forget that any skill that comes into contact with rimuru can be copied as well hence the awkward silence when rimuru asked Raphael about it. I'm disappointed they didn't name hinata's weapon like on the LN

'Certain Outcome' that Shion Ultimate Skill is actually capable made her surpass Rimuru and easily kill him but for that reason she will be limited. It also the skill that she used to cook

3rd the reason ciel didn't upgrade her skill is not because she afraid she's just overprotective of rimuru

In the LN it says that Luminus prefers to dress the normal human way, though she gets someone to dress her. I don't know of a Skill that dresses someone by having to use physical clothing as a start. There is a Skill, however, called Create Material which creates whatever one wants out of magicules. Demons all have it, and some other powerful people have it.

@@galonski64 I reread my answer and I see I left some things out. First I was pointing out that the light novel is different, but they changed it the anime. Don't know why, not a huge deal. But it means the novel doesn't explain this scene. I was trying to say that she was probably using Create Material. Maybe she does use an actual physical article of clothing as a base. But nowhere is such a Skill described in the novels. The situation is the same for Milim when she was wearing all those cute outfits she got in Tempest and then changed into her official Milim work outfit. They don't explain that either. Milim treasures those clothes, I don't think she'd just destroy the originals. I don't know what they do with physical clothing they were wearing if they create something else. But the novel does describe a Skill called Create Material. They create clothing out of magicules, and when they change clothing they just reform the magicules. Diablo did that. That's what I think Luminus did at Walpurgis. In the current episode with Luminus, I just thought, Gunther was already standing by with a robe, and she didn't decide to wear public clothing until after she heard the whole story and determined she needed to act quickly.

I'm genuinely mad that they didn't even try to animate or adopt properly the coolest moment in the manga
Hinata's Usurper doesn't work on enemies weaker than herself, it only works on enemies stronger than her. When she fought Rimuru the first time, she can't use Usurper on him because he's weak.
The screen says something along the lines of [Target not eligible for Usurper]. Then when she fights him now, she tries Usurper on him again and the screen literally says [Blocked], which means Rimuru improved so much that Usurper can't even be used on him anymore.
When I read that part, I've thought of so many ways it could've been portrayed in the anime. And what they did, by far, is the most lame ever. They scoot over that moment like it's nothing. No hype whatsoever. Disappointing.
Before you reply if you want to, I'll just say that I'm already disappointed in the anime from the get go and I'll give the whole anime a generous 7/10. I respect all of your opinions, yes, I've also watched average adaptations that are my favorites (watch Girls und Panzer it's the best 7/10 anime you'll watch).
I'm just saying that I'm disappointed because from the start I know that the adaptation wouldn't really give justice to the material anyways, I'm just looking forward to some moments that shouldn't be even that hard to f-ck up, and yet they still did.
Ey, I'm not downing the anime, it's just my opinion, I know it's good to some people, but imo, compared to other anime, this is incredibly mid. I understand tho why people like it, and I respect their opinion.
The biggest omission that leads to other omissions and misunderstandings, including this one, is that they just do not really explain about Ultimate Skills vs. Unique Skills. It's not like they haven't said so in the novels a long time ago in the story, and it's not like it's hidden from Rimuru. It's the key to all these high-level battles, and all the discussions in comments sections about who's stronger, and if they don't get to explaining this better soon, these things will make less and less sense as time goes on. Also, they just skimp on explaining Skills in general. But I guess if you added that, some people would be more annoyed by yet more exposition.
Totally agree. Was waiting for a year for this whole Blocked shit moment and here we have it. Also correction: she can use Usurper on weaker enemies, but it says 'not applicable' meaning that the enemy isn't even worth of copying. In the manga, they exemplified this point by showing Hinata's POV on a basic weak ass goblin and then further on Rimuru during their first fight. So Usurper basically concluded that Rimuru at that point was no better than a goblin, therefore 'not applicable'. Then they proceeded to show Hinata's POV on Luminous during their first fight and it showed 'Blocked'. This detail emphasized just how ridiculous Rimuru's growth is. Shame they decided to leave it out and have us watch 6 episodes of pointless meetings instead.
