That’s ALL Queen. No choir. No auto tune. Just 4 band members, in perfect sync.

No autotune, no background singers, no backing tracks, no back up dancers, just 4 brilliant musicians doing what the do best! Aretha Franklin was Freddie's idol. He got a lot of gospel influences from her! I first heard my older sister playing Queen 2. I quickly stole it from her, and my love affair with Queen began. 2 other great songs from that 1981 Montreal concert include, Save Me and Dragon Attack. Other greats include White Queen at the Odeon Hammersmith. Another great is Under Pressure at Wembley and Love of My Life also at Wembley. Queen has so many incredible hits known throughout the world, like We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions, that it is impossible to limit their top 50 greatest Queen songs! Great reaction, but please don't talk over Freddie's voice. He is a once in a millennium performer, and although he wrote (just barely) the majority of Queen songs, all 4 members wrote #1 hit songs, and all are in the Songwriters Hall Of Fame! Thanks!!

I was half asleep sitting in the backseat carpool unenthusiastically headed to junior high 7th grade….then we heard this song come on the radio. We would later find out the name. Bohemian Rhapsody. When the song was over with we were all awake wondering what the heck did we just listen to? We didn’t know, but we sure as heck wanted to hear it again. The mother who was driving did too. Blown away and still am amazed at that pure talent in one group, of course the amazing Freddie but the rest of the band too.

Freddy's "choir" was his amazing band members! It's like he said in an interview once, " I am not the leader of the band. I am the lead singer of the band." For audience reaction at its best, watch Queen do "Love of My Life" live at Wembley Stadium.

Freddie was from zanzibar. His parents moved to England when he was around 10 years old. Hes what you would call Indian. He was influenced by gospel on this one, good ear for spotting it. No choir though. Just the 4 of them. 😁
If you want to hear an amazing cover, try George micheal singing this live with queen. That one has a choir.
On the subject of choirs, two things you MUST hear -
Crowd singing bohemian rhapsody at a green day gig in London, and heart doung stairway to heaven at the Kennedy centre. Both are quite sublime experiences. 😊🥰

Freddie was raised Zoroastrian, but attended a English-style boarding school in India.
He didn’t have exactly a “church background”... he was however deeply inspired by Aretha Franklin in writing “Somebody To Love”.

They had to attend mass at the boarding school. It was compulsory so Freddie did learn a lot from that as well.

    • @imweakfordeaky
      @imweakfordeaky 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

**Zenobia** true, however an English boarding school with high-Church of England services wouldn’t give him the type of “church background “ Faith is talking about. She meant the Gospel-choir feel, which is far more prevalent in African-American churches.

These 4 had it all- vocals, musicianship, songwriting, stage presence- and all are/were genuinely great guys. There’ll never be another Freddie, never another Queen.

Great reaction video! Too many people understandably focus on Freddie, myself included, but please re-listen to the video at what the BAND is doing in the background. They are KILLLING it!!
In 1977 (age 17) three of us saw Queen LIVE at Tampa Stadium. We went on both Friday and Saturday night. Without question, they were the best concerts of any genre I have ever attended. The energy level was nothing like I have ever experienced at a festival, concert, sporting event, etc. They did the same song set both nights, but it was like being at two entirely different concerts. Truly two of the most memorable days and nights of my life!!

It was truly cathardic. Freddie improvised differently all night long.. Brian's guitar solos were different. Roger did a drum solo on the second night that was completely different than the first night. The entire vibe of the PACKED football stadium was unique to the performances that night. It was like being at two COMPLETELY different shows, even though the music set was the same at both.! Again, two of the the best nights of my 60 years!!!

I heard Queen for the first time in 1979 in Tehran, Iran. I was around 5 years old.
We had many VHS cassettes at home with different music videos (The Bee Gees, The Poice, Blondie, Abba, Boney M... All of the big bands back then) and music shows, such as Top of the Pops. I loved to watch them, sing along and dance.
On one of the cassettes I saw a guy dancing around with girls, wearing black leather, singing a catchy song that I liked immediately, but I couldn't understand the words. It was "A Little crazy Thing Called Love", I later found out.
Seeing the girls ripping the Freddie's t-shirt, I worried that his mom would be mad at him :)) I surely would be in trouble if somebody ripped my shirt :)

My mom had to keep me out of school for two days in first grade when Freddie died that Sunday, because I was so devastated. I wore little blue jeans, white tank, and made a black arm band out of a hair tie and wore it for weeks to emulate what he wore at live aid. I didn't know that We Will Rock You, We Are The Champions, and other "Stadium Rock" songs were Queen's! Until I saw the movie Bohemian Rhapsody, I didn't know much about Freddie Mercury or Queen! At 76 I became a Queen fan! I just recently heard You Take My Breath Away, which is one of my favorites now. My husband and I were fans of '50's and '60's music, and I never thought I'd like a rock band. Actually the, band members are just a couple years younger than I am! My husband, at age 47, died 3 months before Freddie, and I recall that my younger sister told me about that, but I was grieving and paid little attention. I'm so glad that the movie made me want to know more about the band. I learned that You Tube has so many concerts, interviews, and documentaries. Freddie was the "energizer" of the band--so focused, creative, talented, and intelligent. He catapulted Queen to success! I wish I could have seen Freddie in person. We lived in Germany a year and traveled throughout Europe and visited London in 1968, when my husband served as an MP in the US Army. At that time, Queen didn't exist, but Smile may have. Adam Lambert has a great voice, but I prefer listening to and watching Freddie! I.m happy that Brian and Roger found Adam and can continue to perform and allow new generations to experience Freddie's and their music. I'm also a fan of Freddie and Montserrat Caballe, who wrote the music for the Barcelona Album. I hope they are still writing and performing their songs in Heaven! Their duets are Heavenly!

Freddie owned every stage he ever walked on to. "if you want it bad enough man sometimes the soul cries out just like that." Great line, I can tell you get it!! With everything going crazy in the world right now ive been feeling really depressed. Ive suffered from depression on and off most of my life. Music had always been a huge part of my life. Im drawn to all kinds of music but mostly music with a story music with a message that we can relate to in a very personal way. Music that sounds like it was written about us how we think how we feel but in words with a melody that we could never have created ourselves. Music that speaks to our souls knows no color or age or gender. I think we can connect with people through music in a way like no other. it can open a pathway to communication on a level of feelings not intellect. Watching you experience songs for the first time that I have loved for years has made me smile more then I have in a long time. THANK YOU!!!

@@abovetheinfluence9361 No, my favorite Queen songs as a kid were...Mustapha, Bicycle Race, & Flash. Flash was from the 1980 Flash Gordon Movie. Which they did the whole musical sound track for. I also loved the movie. I liked You're My Best Friend a lot. It holds the distinction of being my introduction to them. As I got into my teen years. I really appreciated the hard rock element, combined with the musical complexity. That is the hallmark of their first 5 albums. Queen is great live. That said. In order to understand the level of brilliance & mastery they achieved. You must understand that the studio versions of their songs are entirely different. From the live versions in most cases. They were master musicians, but also masters of the soundboard / mixing, arranging, layering harmonies. Don't skip the studio versions. They are a completely different animal.

Aretha Franklin had a gospel album . He loved her. He was inspired by the Gospel side of Aretha. Brian stated that He wanted to be Aretha.

Lucky enough to see Queen live in 86 (Wembley), and to go to the Live Aid performance the same year. Most amazing stage presence. Check out the way fans react at the Green Day concert when Bohemian Rhapsody comes on (on TH-cam).

I love Queen. I was in high school when "Another One Bites the Dust" came out. It was written by the bass player, John Deacon. That song was forever on the radio and I had the 45 and simply wore it out. I really like Queen in the early days. "Liar" is a great one, "Stone Cold Crazy is another one.

The first time I heard Queen was in '75. I was 10 and my friend's older brother had a new album - A Night At The Opera. She said it was amazing (she was 9 yo!) and we sat in his bedroom and listened to the entire album from beginning to end. I remember reading the entire album cover, album sleeves (lyrics), etc. Let's say I fell in love with Queen when I was 10.

My first Queen experience was aged 9 in '84 when my dad brought home a copied VHS Video which had on it:
Queen Greatest Flix (the greatest hits videos).
The Works Video EP (videos to the songs from The Works album, 1984).
We Will Rock You concert (which is now repackaged as Rock Montreal - '81).
Those three hours absolutely blew my young mind and I watched it again immediately and every day until the tape wore out!
Started buying Queen aged 13 when I began earning money and never ever looked back!
I was 16 when Freddie passed, so of course I have felt that missing element from the world for nearly 30 years but with so much material out there, even now, 35 years after my Queen journey began, I am still discovering new tracks, versions and performances I have never experienced!
They have truly been the one constant in my life and always will be!!!

As posted by others, Freddie adored Aretha Franklin and he got his “gospel” influence from her. My very first queen song was Bohemian Rhapsody. I couldn’t get enough of Queen after that song. That was 1975 and I was 22 years old. I’m pushing 69 now and they are still, hands down, my favorite band. I enjoy watching reactions of a new generation of Queen fans. Their catalogue is chock full of great songs. Enjoy 😉

I like how you react during the song as you're hearing it. A lot reactors just sit there and make the occasional face or they'll pause 20 times but IMO you do it right. You're actually reacting to the moment. Good job!

I first heard Queen in 1976. I was 10 and I went to my friend's house. Her brother owned "A Night At The Opera" and we listened to it from beginning to end. So my first Queen song was "Death on Two Legs". Then I saw Queen twice, in '80 and '84.

First heard of Queen way back when they first started from a friend in the UK. She kept telling me to watch out for when they started to be known here in Australia. Seven Seas of Rhye cam out and I was hooked, still love it now. I love everything about them from their incredible musicianship , their amazing vocals - having three guys in one band who can sing helps , their astounding range of styles and techniques, they all write and have written hit songs, they are all multinstrumentalists , they are all extremely intelligent - three have uni degrees, Freddie a diploma in art - plus they are all hot to look at 😂😀. Thank you for a great reaction too, it’s my first time here. I always click on anyone reacting to Queen but a lot only see Freddie and ignore the sheer talent and genius that these wonderful guys possess. Finally, I was lucky enough to finally see them live at the end of Feb. sadly without Freddie, of course, but it was the most amazing night of my life. Roger is my very favourite so you can imagine how it was for me. Sorry, this is long but you did ask that question 🤣

I've heard Queen all my life (born in 1969), but my first real memory was a very young kid, dancing in our living room to Tie Your Mother Down. I was too young at the time to understand the lyrics, but just loved the beat. It has one of my favourite lyrics in it - 'Take your little brother swimming with a brick, that's alright.' Always makes me laugh. At the moment, my favourite Queen songs are White Queen (live at Hammersmith Odeon 1975) and Seaside Rendezvous, although it does change with my mood and there are so many great songs to choose from.

You know, I've watched a lot of these "reaction" videos to songs and music I've known my entire life, and I just ran across yours. I watched the two Righteous Bros. videos and now this one, and I've just gotta say... it is SO nice to see someone react to the actual music are watching, with (maybe more than) a little knowledge about what goes into playing, singing, and producing those songs. Most of these vids are some guy or girl just letting the song gloss over them or play in the background while they mug and act to create a reaction. Again, so nice to see someone genuinely moved by the music, both the obvious parts and the subtle ones and then able to articulate their feelings well. Good job, brother. Keep it up!

First song I heard by Queen was "Killer Queen" at the swimming pool, summer before I started Middle School, 1974. I loved their music. It would be years before I got to see who these guys were. No MTV yet, no TH-cam, you had the radio, folks, AM and FM. For that matter, no AUTO TUNE. Back then you truly had to be GOOD at your craft! Queen was and is the bomb. Having Freddie as their lead vocalist and front man was that pinch of magic to boost them into the stratosphere! Good reaction. Thanks.

The song was called Killer Queen, and it was playing on the juke box in a small "3.2 Joint," which was a bar that only sold lower alcohol content beer, I heard it while I was playing foosball. That's my first memory of hearing Queen, the band.

If you want to see someone own the stage nothing beats Queen at Live Aid. Freddie played the crowd like a master. I first saw Queen when I was at university in Manchester. Someone said there was a good band on at the student union so I went along to give them a try. I was hooked and my grandchildren now love Queen's music too.
