I used to work the horse racing games at Dave & Buster's back in 98. And I actually rigged the sound system to play this track during the game. And I would announce the game play by play as this was blasting in the background. I only would do this on Saturday night during the busiest times. It was so popular that i did over 3000 plays in 1 night. The average was 1200 for the week. It got the attention on my general manager so he would actually come and watch. I thought i was in trouble until he started to smile and started clapping his hands. I actually got employee of the month and my name on a plack that they had on the wall but after the GM went to another company i was fired🤣🤣 because of a mystery guest. The new GM said it was distracting and not appropriate for the tradition and i had to stop. The game became boring, And a mystery guest complained that i was working on too many attractions and couldn't concentrate on this one game. So they actually had security walk me out the back door.🤦🏾♂️🤣🤣🤣. True story. It absolutely made no sense. And to this day that game has never been the same remember this was back in 1998. I was a college student. No internet, cameras or smartphones. The Startech flip Phone was the most popular phone at the time.
Ha I used to psych on those Ridge Racer tracks as a kid. Raced with a cheap steering wheel (that broke off) and go like a madman. Ridge Racer was so fast and frantic!
The man used to go to raves and parties just to listen this type of music then replicate it with his own touch. I remember reading this in a interview, the other composers were influenced by a load of records he brought to Namco HQ, also tons of sample packs they bought in order to make tracks.
Sometimes that drift mechanic didn't activate properly... CRASH Some corners were better for just braking or full throttle through, it wasn't a race sim with perfect racing lines like GT. Ridge Racer was pure survival! :)

It sounds like you did a great thing, and they probably did you a favour at the same time. I hope you moved onto something good!
that's amazing
yooo that sounds rad dude never been to a d&b (we don't get them here in the UK) but that sure sounds like it'd draw me in
Hilarious story
Nice 92-2001 rocked
The hardest track in the game I love seeing devs putting the hardcore genre into games new and old
Nearly gabber the pace of it, RR and RR rev bith had wikid soundtracks and you could use the game disk in a cd player for the soundtrack.
they don’t call it hardcore for nothin’
In my humble opinion, this track is the perfect audio representation of a perpetual sugar rush.
by sugar you mean cocaine?
@Philip Wood you just gave me an idea! 💡 LSD in cotton candy!
@@woundedsanity omfg
@@karelpipa: Well, I didn't mean THAT kind of "sugar," but to each his/her own, I guess, LOL.
@David
"oh wow, cotton candy!
mmmmm, bubbleguuuUUUOOOAAAAAAA..."
"Hey! You're trying for a gold by going the other way around, huh? You're crazy!"
1:44 When a dog is jumping up its owner's lap, eagerly begging for more doggy treats while the owner is repeatedly telling him to "Get Down!".
in reverse it says quotes from RR1's announcer. such you're crazy! and 3 laps to go!
This game and it's soundtrack were absolutely formative media for me. Almost 30 years later and this still hits.
Blessed be thy 69th comment
0:05 - HEY!! Your trying for a goal by going the other way around huh? Your CrazZy! - Played backwards 👍
Drunk and back again my old friend I was 6 years old beating White Angel and sticks with me, this gets me the feels. RIDGEEEE RACERRRRR
My favourite music track from the game like the parts where it gets a faster beat
本当に素晴らしいセンスです
I kind of wanna see 8bitdrummer play this song on drums...
that’d be something
THAT WOULD BE INSANE HAHAHAHA
Full Blast in the House, feels so good to hear that sound again.

Ridge Racer was so fast and frantic!
Going from Starblade to Ridge Racer with a fresh approach to gabber showed how talented Shinji Hosoe is.
he did it first in F/A

1:10 - When you hit the barrier and want to throw your controller away, but can't because it's a wired controller!
Wolfman's Got Nards I'd throw mine at the TV. Bit it was a CRT, so it'd bounce right off, then the cord wouod swing it back and hit me in the head.
Sometimes that drift mechanic didn't activate properly... CRASH
Some corners were better for just braking or full throttle through, it wasn't a race sim with perfect racing lines like GT.
Ridge Racer was pure survival! :)
Sounds like a cut song from IIDX 5th style 😆. Yes I’m aware of the artist and he does work for Konami.
Ah, 1995... Taupo... insert coin... dialling up this track in the game... going for broke. AND WINNING. Good times.
So sick, i love it 😄
