I can almost feel Ryan's agony as he narrates this game... but I guess he brought it on himself by being storm happy with so many draw enchantments on the field. 🙃
Ryan's play during this game might make this my single favorite cEDH game I've ever seen. Actually using Brain Freeze for it's INTENDED purpose is incredible, and it's always nice to see a non-Thoracle win. Congrats!
Jhoira was my first almost cEDH tier deck. Love seeing it still be as powerful as I remember. I took it apart because it took very long turns for casual games and I didn't have anyone to play cEDH with at the time. This makes me want to put her back together.
From what I understand, after seeing Cal get the Kogla, Ryan knew it was do or die with the Drannith on Phillip's board because Ryan can't easily remove the Drannith permanently and certainly before Phillip layers more of his stax pieces. It was a gamble against Shaun's interaction but it worked out.
Just goes to show that BOTH sides of Birgi are cracked as hell, not just the front. Getting to effectively double your hand size on a storm turn like Ryan did is pretty bonkers. Fantastic game, those stack wars are what I play the format for.
I'm so happy to see my main commander used in a cedh game! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time! In b4 "jhoira /is/ cedh," my jhoira is thopter tribal
Gotta give props to Philip for plugging away with Adrian Candlekeep; every time I see it in the title I wonder and hope that this is the game he wins with it
At 4:40, Cal tutors a fierce empath with a worldly tutor. Isn't tutoring a tutor a little redundant? Or is there an angle I'm missing here, like getting critical mass of elves on the field
that playmat looks awesome. R.I.P Hullbrecher there on the far left at the bottom. Ragavan charging in from the top left. it's games like this where the cEDH community has to consider playing at least 1 Eldrazi titan in each deck to prevent being milled out. I know that you just use brain freeze to mill yourself then and then escape Thassa's oracle, but that is a better way to lose than being milled out IMO.
Why didn't Ryan use his Flusterstorm/Dispel in a way that his Harnfel resolves + An offer You Can't Refuse gives him two treasures? Was it not possible? Isn't that a better line?
Because offer targeted harnfel. That's the move with counter magic, you targeted the same thing not the counter magic they used. If offer targeted dispel sure but offer was on harnfel. Only way to get around it is veil but he's not in green (or any other can't be countered)
That beat slapped, pay for rhystic, draw from mystic, scry from assistant
That has to be two of the craziest counter wars I’ve seen in a while, I was on the edge of my seat the entire time
Genuinely, I was so invested. I love this channel and the wild interactions we get to watch so much

It may not be a Thoracle win, but it's another Underworld Breach win in the book.
What other uses do people use brain freeze?
This game looked more like a war between Ryan and Shaun while the other 2 were just hapless bystanders
That's why you play blue lol
I’m glad to see that my board isn’t the only one that looks like the cards were just dropped on it when playing Jhoira
So true 🤣
10:23 “My name is Ryan and i have 47 permanents on board and access to 35 mana per turn on turn 5” lmao
What a game, I did not expect Ryan to just power through both a rhystic study AND mystic remora.
This might be one of if not the best game I've seen. I loved all the interaction going on

"Pays for Rhystic, Draws from Mystic, Scry's from Assistant" should be song lyrics

Congrats to Ryan on that narration. I wonder how many takes that took to get right.
... a lot.

really liked the tonguetwisters of mystic, rhystic, and assistant all together haha.
8:24 to 8:29 sounds like a weird jingle
Haha I thought the same thing!
Mystic, rhystic, rhystic, mystic, rhystic... esper sentinel, mystic, rhystic.. oh and mystic
That last turn was insane ... Great game guys 😁
WOOO! what a game! Phillip and cal sitting there thinking oh thank lord get a response :D
I love the flavor implications of 8:32. A Background is technically a Commander, sure, but casting Fierce Guardianship?
Amazing game! The back and forth was fantastic!
Cal and Philip this game: 🙋🏻♂️🙋
drink every time you hear “jhoira, assisstant, mystic and rhystic”
Shaun: You can't just beat me in a counterspell war when I have Mystic and Rhystic!
Ryan: haha harnfel go brr
Love to see some great CEDH
Ryan’s playmat is amazing
That was wild!! Well fought win Ryan. Well done!
Lol Ryan and Shaun are out for each other’s blood 😂
The narration of this must have been Hell. 🤣🤣🤣
Nice to see some interesting decks this week. That counter war was insane.
Shaun decides he doesn't have enough draw engines and play Mystic Remora. It resolves and the Narrator sighs.
Cool game! I always like watching these vids of competitive side of Commander mtg
Exciting game well played all
That was amazing! Also hopefully Philip will one day finally get the win with Abdel/Candlekeep Sage...
What a battle. A true masterpiece 👏
Gotta give props to Philip for plugging away with Adrian Candlekeep; every time I see it in the title I wonder and hope that this is the game he wins with it
This is my favorite game in ages.
Just ordered my bundle, love it!
Awesome counter magic !!!
Woah, super cool!
the rhystic/ mystic narration kinda sounding like rap god
“Jhoira, Assistant, Mystic, and Rhystic…” 😅
Nothing like Magic in the morning
that storm turn was so crazy
Rhystic mystic and assistant lmaoooo
Playmat gonna go hard can’t wait to get it
I can say that the Ryan in the video is the Superior Ryan 🙏
a crazy stack there, buddy
Right now I'm playing Malcolm/Tana but man grixis colors seems like it offers a lot more versatility
At 4:40, Cal tutors a fierce empath with a worldly tutor. Isn't tutoring a tutor a little redundant? Or is there an angle I'm missing here, like getting critical mass of elves on the field
Casting Fierce Empath allows for an extra counter on Marwyn.
Oh cool, thanks folks!
Dude that was SICK!
Ha I remember watching this live on discord. What a game

It's a good point! In those instances, you use Tormod's Crypt to exile their graveyard in response.
Now that was a good game
Just wondering was ryan running thassas oracle? If so would that not have been the more effective play?
Wow that was a nuts game
:) HOMIE DID IT!!!!!!!
wait but at 8:40 how is Phillip able to cast fierce guardianship for it's alt cost? he doesn't control his commander?
He controls a background
I was expecting the fluster storm but not from Ryan!
There is a rumor Ryan is still narrating this.
lmao already got to play with yall in paper
same generic win conditions lmao
Why didn't Ryan use his Flusterstorm/Dispel in a way that his Harnfel resolves + An offer You Can't Refuse gives him two treasures? Was it not possible? Isn't that a better line?

For offer to resolve and give treasures, it must counter Harnfel.
@@zealot2147 Ah. Yeah, I was somehow thinking offer was pointed at Swan Song. My Bad.
will u still be doing these more simple games?
Yes! These are never going away. They are the cornerstone of our channel.
Worldly tutor searching for ouphe 💔
This video makes me want to rebuild Jhoira. But I want the stax version 😭
Jhoira asisstant rhistic and mystic
May i see the decklist of jhoira?
Deck lists are in the description.
Phillip: "control"?!
I've said it before, and I'll say it again, this combination of partner and abdel is bad, Agent of The Iron Throne is better.
Is running kozilek in every deck to avoid being milled to death a bad idea ? i've seen so much milling lines here i feel it would be effective.
If you're on an Ad Naus strategy, it is really bad. It's basically a dead card in your deck.
I can't believe the voice is actually a person
I would have cast the dranit magistrate turn 2.
GEEZ And a Partridge in a Counterspell Tree wtf
yooo
Not gonna lie, I have a bias against Jhoira.
Marwyn's list is wrong. There is no Elvish Pioneer in that list.
I didn’t know Dr. Seuss played magic. Too many rhymes
I am a little bit tired of seeing Abdel/Candlekeep.
Unsub not playing the pronoun game in the mtg content i watch done
bye
lol having pronouns in they're bios
