I was praying the whole video just so you can get the salmon done right this time and you actually did quite a good job. I know it's your accomplishment but I feel extremely proud of you!
Hi lisa..... I found your channel just yesterday and i have been binge watching all of your videos..... Ur tooooo good and ur voice is so calm... And one more thing i am as clumsy as you are in the kitchen but i m probably more.... Luvv ur videos
Hey Lisa!! Your channel is a huge comfort for me! Makes the autism happy, don’t know how else to explain it! For one of your days, I wonder if you could try stir-frying potatoes. There’s a Sichuan dish that does that, I believe.
@@erikabedir8622 I would say it’s high?…I’ve been surrounded by outdated information about it for a long time, so I don’t quite know how to explain it. I can speak coherently, although I do occasionally stumble over my words. I don’t like touch unless I’m the one in control of it. I hyperfixate, and have special interests, one of them obviously being Pokémon. I fidget with my hands and tend to make random sounds, sometimes in place of talking. I also can’t read conversations that well. However, I also have anxiety, which kinda cripples my functionality in some areas.
I think you did a great job with the salmon! You've definitely grown a lot as a chef and I'm really happy to see the improvement. It motivates me to always strive to be better in the things I do :)
Would have been a nice idea to sear them potatoes in the pan after taking them out the oven, especially since the flavour and doneness were already there
Salmon looked KILLER!!! It was perfect. I'm so proud! I remember seeing the other video pop up in my feed a while ago. I find that it helps to put the potato flat on an oiled baking sheet, that side kinda fries in the oven, and you can flip halfway. It takes about 45 minutes total, better with convection if you have it! ❤️
Day 14 make kimchi ramen Step 1 make ramen noodles Step 2 cut vegetables and put when you are cooking but don't forget to fry you take vegetables like corn onions capsicum etc Step 3 put chicken or your favourite non veg Step 4 it's special for you put 1 tablespoon of chilli powder Now it's ready
Day 13 of asking Lisa to try making masala dosa (Dosa is a sort of a savoury, South Indian rice/lentil pancake, and the “masala” that goes along with it is a simple potato sabzi). Maybe you should also try making sambhar and coconut chutney with it!
Lisa could you please make fish head curry also known as (muri ghonto) Muri ghonto is a bengali recipe. In this recipe, crispy fish head is cooked with rice and potatoes in some spices. The word 'Muri' stands for fish head and 'Ghonto' means mushy curry. It is the perfect side to accompany with hot steamed rice
To get a crunchy exterior on your potatoes... Par boil them and shake gently in a bowl with a lid. The outside of the potatoes will be coated in a mashed potato like texture. Then bake. The mashed potato like exterior aerates, creating micro blisters giving the crunch!
Made salmon for the first time and I nailed it after watching a 2 minute video. You don't need to drain them in oil, a bit of oil in the pan does the trick fine, salt the skin to make sure its dry
Day 286 of asking Can you instead of just eating the level 7 spicy noodles right away do it step-by-step (starting from level 4 maybe since you already have a high spice tolerance)? so by the time you get to 7 you’ll be ready!!😁
For the potatoes, I think you would get better results if you skipped boiling them and instead just tossed them in oil and seasoning and roasted them in the oven. When you boil and then roast you’re fighting against a lot of water that makes it harder for the potatoes to crisp up. You cut them small enough that roasting shouldn’t take all that long.
Hey Lisa! I would not use a wire rack with potatoes, especially if you want a golden brown color to them. Also them retaining moisture from the boil process might’ve also been contributing to that problem. Hope that helps!
Great video Lisa. I have a pro tip tho- So my suggestion would be invest in a cast iron skillet. They are perfect for cooking salmon. Your cooking technique is on point (skin side down first), but before you flip squirt some lemon juice in the pan (watch out for some splatter cuz the pan will be super hot) and then plop the pink side down on the simmering lemon juice. You’ll develop a nice crust, and a yummy lemon flavor as well on the crust. Sprinkle with a little fresh dill, and bon appetite 😋
Lisa if you get salmon in filets you can scale it way easier and portion it yourself and freeze it. And when you scale fish do it in a plastic bag so you don’t get scales everywhere.:)
when plating skin on fish present it with the skin side up. you spent all the time crisping it to put it face down and having it steam and becoming soggy leather. wioll make it easier to eat too. in terms of plating maybe putting the veggies and potatoes in a rectangle and having the fish crossing it in the middle to make an X could be cool. A slice of lemon could help it present well to.
I always learned that u sear the topside first for ~30seconds and than flip on the skin side, so the salmon juices stay in and dont leak out. Keeps them very soft and juicy
PLEASE try sazon butter noodles! Idk if these are popular, but I make some butter noodles (unsalted butter) and add half a pack of sazón goya to the noodles. Squirt in a little ketchup. I sometimes add some veggies (peppers, onions, peas, and/or corn) and/or grilled chicken that's shredded. SOOOOO good man 😁
Day 14 - An Indian Sweet called Kasar , not available in shops , first we have to roast wheat powder till it’s brown ( do not overcook ) then add melted butter and sugar powder and mix it well ( btw we eat it from spoon )
Add a little vinegar to the water it makes the potato's come out crispier!!. And with any meat fish ect.... If it sticking it's not ready to flip it will flip easy and will not stick when ready to turn! That looks delicious great job!!.
Next time making salmon just try what my mom makes in Vietnam usually. Just teriyaki sauce with salmon in the pan with rice. Or you can just use sugar and soy sauce.
@Lisa Nguyen- The food looked delicious!! For timing of the potatoes, what I figured out is that it takes them about 20 mins in the oven at 425 F to get nice and crispy. So I would usually start cooking the veggies and any additional stuff right after I put the potatoes in the oven. Hope this helps :)
Lisa you should try Sopes. It’s a Mexican dish that consists of a fried masa type of base and is usually topped with something savory. In my family we usually make queso, beans, potato or meat sopes and top with cabbage, queso fresco, and a smooth, blended, tomato salsa. How they’re made depends on the region but they’re so good🤤
Hey Girl! Just saw you struggle with descaling the fish and remembered a tip from a Jamaikan man in a Video from Mark Wiens and they use bottlecaps for this issue, super quick and easy! Hope this will help in the future 🌈
Amazing video!! Tips for when cooking salmon: wear gloves when you are handling it raw since if you accidentally cut yourself on bones or scales it can contain bacteria that disepears when the salmon cooks, the bacteria can be harmful and enter your body through the cuts 💕💕💕💕
Another tip. Stainless steel is like cast iron, you can ‘season’ a new pan and never fully scrub away oil residue when cleaning. The pan should end up looking golden and nasty w time.
I'm glad you didn't remove the skin of the salmon, as a lot of people do it and it freaks me out. The part under the skin always tests best, and if the salmon is fried, the skin is amazing!! The skin also has a lot of nutrients and removing it means removing a lo of it's nutrients. For day 14 can you do vegetarian lasagna
My recipie which I called 'Aloo vaja' in bengali which means fried potato is first you peeled the skin of the potatoes, cut them into little sqaure shapes as you did here, add salt, turmeric, chilli powder, paprika, garlic powder, corn starch, little splash of water and toss it a bit. Then deep fry them until golden brown. They're heaven in mouth.
Day 14?
Arab food?
Try making pau
Make a Philly cheese steak
Indian
Make and eat chicken congee
I literally screamed with happiness when the salmon didn't stick. So proud of you for the progress. 😊

Second this!
A tip for descaling fish: do it in a bowl of water, no scales flying around. Just pat the fish dry afterwards.
very informative tip thank you so much coz like Lisa, I too hate scales.
I eat the scales
