Thanks for doing God's work on these wheel reviews. You can tell you love sim racing, and are honest and thorough. Regarding the availability of reviews on GSI and other high-end wheels on TH-cam. As other's have mentioned... I guess there's not a lot. You're really filling a niche. My best guess is that there isn't enough views/monetization on the extreme high-end and DIY stuff for a smaller channel to choose this type of content over whatever else they are doing. As you say, "they're wrong" but that's their prerogative... Also, good hookup on folks donating their wheels for review. You're building a community and that's coming around to benefit everyone.
HAHAHAHA!!! You funny my man. Thanks for the kinds words tho. Much appreciated. The community has been great to me. I really owe a lot to all that support me and we are going to be giving back more as our community has grown.
Not my fav but the quality is amazing. They make such amazing high quality it is amazing. My few gripes are pet peeves and honestly it is truly an amazing product overall.
First time coming across your channel, and I'll have to come back in the future. Great production quality. No gimmicky music in the background. Just good, and really detailed info about the product. Am I gonna buy this wheel? Hell no lmao it costs more than my entire R12 setup combined 😆But it's nice to have in depth analysis of a product like this :)
Thx mate. I appreciate the kind words. I've learned to host focus on the gear. Let it tell the story. I've grown consistently and it's been fun. Can't wait to share the next wheel I am reviewing.
Great insight to this wheel! I've been sitting on the fence about this rim as not many reviews on it but now with 15% off think I need to pull the trigger....
It is a mystery to me how these coincidences sometimes are happening… I just was looking up the GSI Hyper SL after I had it on my radar for months and I knew that there was no review about it on YT yet and 2h ago you were releasing it. This universe must be connected in a mysterious way. 😊 What I really like about the Hyper SL and the Hyper P1, are the position of the funky switches. They are slightly above the position of the thumbs so that you don‘t have to angle your thumbs in a very uncomfortable position but you can reach them very easily.
Yes. You do know that I get my insights from you. I think it is via ESP. 🤣. Glad I could help. It's a sweet wheel and it's a nice design. I would personally just get the Hyper P1 instead since the cost is $100 more. And the ergonomics of most is spot on except for the optional paddles.
I own this Hyper P1 wheel I absolutely love how these GSI shifters feel, subjective is shifters and paddles they all feel really nice from the high end guys but just spot on these
@@grayzedynamics Ha thanks for getting back;). Just ordered the Hyper SL being blown out by Advanced Sim Racing actually so will live with that, first world problems. GSI has been incredible in their support with other GSI wheels I have. Already have a DDU and struggling to "need" a button box (but that doesn't stop us in this hobby). Once Alphas start being in stock without lead time I might have to get one anyways!
@@Jeremy_James87 I agree that the GSI is an amazing wheel. At the end, we are comparing high end, great quality and most amazing wheels. At this level of quality, we really are in the margins. Either wheel truly is great, just depends on what is most important. The grips on the Alpha are just simply better than any other wheel that I have ever tested, only grip is the tacky feeling I loved on their Omega Pro.
Hi mate. Thx. What they did was connected a 4 pin connector to a USB C to the wheel. Then from USC C to his Asetek QR. You can open the Asetek QR and solder it to any other cord. Connect them together and never have to use the could cable. Not hard at all. Maybe one day I'll solder one and share on video.
Sold my Hyper SL…great wheel personally my absolutely favorite grip material. It’s just too expensive like you said and I agree those extra paddles on top are just akward to use. I think that was a definite misstep. I think I am going to try the new GXL Pro V2 😊
Thanks for the view. I agree, the Hyper SL is an amazing wheel. It is just priced at the very high end for a screenless wheel, and the top paddles are high. Grips are really good, not the best I have used, but some of the best by far. The GXL Pro V2 looks really nice. I want to try it myself and compare it to the Bavarian Simtec Alpha. The Alpha is amazing.
Hi! May I ask what NRG QR you use on your VRS base and wheel side (exact models with links :P) ? I'm a bit confused :) About to build my first rig and ill try to go your route with VRS base and Dan's powered QR :P
I use the official NRG QR. a.co/d/iMOnGkv It comes with both base and wheel side. VRS may be coming with something new too, so I would be on the look out.
I Can’t remember if the Hyper has the same material grips as the FPE V2. The out the box has a coating that will break in and get grippy. Grips of the FPE out the box was smooth and got tacky after the coating wears off.
Hi GD, I was itching to ask: how does the GSI shifters, clutch and top paddles compare to the Alpha? Are the paddles on the GSI better built? Which is thicker, less nosy and have a better feel overall?
So I would say it is a personal preference. Honestly they are both high quality and feel good. I lean more towards the Alpha, especially since they are dual so it is one mechanism and not separate like the GSI wheels. I Ike the feel of the Alpha better, but they both feel nice to shift. The Alpha feels less noise, but only minimally. They can both be dampened by getting thin rubber pads tho.
@@grayzedynamicsAwesome, thanks so much 👍 Visually the GSI looks better built but I have never held or used either wheel so I wouldn’t know. Seems like you really like and prefer the Alpha wheel over the GSI Hyper SL 😂
@@grayzedynamics I think personally the Alpha strikes a perfect balance for a sim racing wheel: in terms of design, size, function, build quality, colours, dials, and ergonomics. It’s not trying to do too much but yet it is carefully thought out. The precision and attention to detail is what makes it that much more appealing. It’s a hot and sour sexy pretzel 🥨👍
The Alpha is the best no screened wheel on the market. There are a lot of really good wheels, but I feel this one is the best on the market. But the competition is fierce.
One downside of GSI Rims for me: You can't label most of the inputs and have to life like they think it's right. If they change this, I would consider them.
@@grayzedynamics O..K.. In the Video and on all the pictures it looks like the writing for the rotaries and thumb wheels and funkies are engraved or printed on the wheel itself, not on stickers??
I think the grips are both good. Just depends on preference. Now that the GXL V2 is coming. I would get that instead of the X-29. And the GXL V2 is the FPE V2 without a screen.

My pleasure!

Stay Tuned! 😉
Really happy to see your channel to keep growing, excellent review as per always. GSI really makes top tier stuff...mega impressive.
Thanks mate. I appreciate the kind words and GSI is the NIKE of the Sim Racing Scene. They truly are at the top of the wheel scene in Sim Racing.
Let's go! Hyper SL is not my fav due to the shape, but I'm obviously a big fan of Gomez products!

I would look at the GXL V2. I think that is a better value unless you need the extra paddles and thumb encoders.
@grayzedynamics I like the e paddle set and more buttons is always good 😄. Cheers for the idea though I will have another lool
Lol. Yeah I have the Alpha and love it. The GXL looks nice too. Plus it has the new grips. Hoping to get a chance to review one.
Great review as always 👌
I appreciate that. Cheers mate

Nice one!
