- As in other areas around the world where Latter-day Saints live, work and worship, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints makes every effort to be a good neighbor and contribute to those communities in positive ways. Philadelphia is a prime example. See some of the ways the Church invested in the City of Brotherly Love, from a housing project to immersive interaction into the American Revolution.

What an amazing video! I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is Christ's New Testament Church restored to the earth today! We are so blessed to have all these people collaborating together to bless mankind in the US, and really around the world!
Building faith, communities and families. That's what the work is all about.
I visited the temple before these other buildings were completed. This is really nice to see the Alexander Center completed. This is a real blessing for the people of Philadelphia.

Beautiful temple
The Museum of the American Revolution is extremely well done and certainly worth a visit by all who are interested in American and Philadelphia history. Both the Declaration of Independence (1776) and the U.S. Constitution (1787) were signed in Philadelphia in the State House (now Independence Hall).
I wonder how many founding fathers have walked the temple’s halls!
Interesting, seems like some people focus on attacking one another while the Mormons are just helping people. Seems like if we just all realized our differences and said “ok I understand” and moved on and just helped one another then this world would be a better world.
I have been preaching that for years but that make toooooo much sense in a world that glorify division and conflict.
Why couldn't it be a homeless shelter or a place of service or sold to someone else whose business it is to make money? These questions have to be asked and answered. See Mormon 8:39-40
I’m assuming your referring to the temple? A place of service is the exact definition of what a temple is.
As I understood in the video, James, the area was blighted. No businesses build in blighted areas because there are no customers.
I have a friend who lives in Philadelphia and she told me that area had been an area of no interest to any businesses for many years. Now it is a beautiful place with both businesses and apartments. Much better for the city and the citizens there.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints does much service to the homeless and those in need. I've been involved in many LDS humanitarian efforts - from the building of housing for the homeless to collecting and packaging sanitation items to be sent to countries ravished by floods, fires and earthquakes.
Temples are built as a commandment from God. Only the best of craftsmanship and materials go in to the making of each temple.
The Book of Mormon talks about how the Nephites constructed the first temple on this continent: 2 Nephi 5:16 "And I, Nephi, did build a temple; and I did construct it after the manner of the temple of Solomon save it were not built of so many precious things; for they were not to be found upon the land, wherefore, it could not be built like unto Solomon’s temple. But the manner of the construction was like unto the temple of Solomon; and the workmanship thereof was exceedingly fine."
Members of the Church are also commanded to give a Fast Offering. 100% of fast offering money goes to those in need. There are no administrative costs taken from fast offering, nor is money moved from fast offering funds to the building of temples or church buildings.
