    Good luck with that if you're in the uk!
    A nurse looked at my extremely swollen, painful and black and blue foot, told me I had "probably" broken the small bones in my foot (Phalanges?) plus torn the ligaments too, but that they don't do x-rays for this.
    Here I am 5-6 weeks later. My foot is still swollen, and painful. I live in a rural small town in Scotland, am disabled with Chronic illnesses/pain anyway, and am completely housebound. There is no podiatrist that I can get too. I was just walking in my house! It's flared up the pain in my knees really badly, presumably because I've not been able to walk properly.

    I was doing handstands every day then I broke my hand doing a handstand on a skateboard. So i started shuffling every day. And now I think I've fractured my metatarsal from too much shuffling. God damn it.

    Check, check, and check. So I have had this for a year while working too. Up and down stairs and ladders. Thanks for this video. But unfortunately I now have to go get an X-Ray. I do not want surgery if it brakes.

    I was stupid and juat kicked a metal chair really hard because i was mad. Yeah that was dumb. I felt pain immediately after and it was so bad it took the wind out out of me. It took a while for my foot to stop throbbing. Now it hurts to walk on it. But i can still walk. And no swelling or bruising. But it does hurt for me to push down where these bones would be. Should i wait to get checked? Or just go in tomorrow and play it safe. Thanks in advance.

      You need to be more calm and measured with the way you’re expressing yourself or no one will help you. I understand you’re suffering but you need to rise above it and do the bare minimum of basic English grammar and sentence structure

    Hey what do they do if you break the bone above the metatarsals?

    • @Footankle
      @Footankle  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are several bones above the metatarsals, but in general you are looking at immobilization and possibly non-weightbearing. Your foot specialist doctor will provide you with a treatment plan.

      +EstupedMexicanz I always recommend a second opinion from another doctor when healing gets complicated like this.

      Ghaemi350z Abeo shoes- sold through the walking company make shoes especially for metatarsal problems. You can look at the Walking Company online or find a store in your area online. They are not cheap shoes as far as the price, however you cannot really put a price on walking!

      @@Footankle Hello doctor, I have a comminuted fracture of the 5th metatarsal, my doctor put it in a cast. When I went for a checkup after the 15th day, the boiling did not start. Is this normal? Can I get better without surgery? Please reply.

    Hi question: I'm going to try to tell my story and make it short.
    I broke my pinky toe and the metatarsal on my left foot back on September 12th and walked on it for 7 weeks of this year. On October 9th I had ex-rays and started wrapping it and had a velcro ankle boot from 8 years before for a different broke bone on my right foot! I wasn't able to get crutches for two weeks so that was the 7 week mark. It finally was healed after Thanksgiving but my foot was still very swollen and numb and is still to this day! The podiatrist I was seeing but I cannot afford because I do not have health insurance is sending me to a clinic to get an MRI to find out why it's so swollen and red. I don't think I did anything to it because I was in bed most of the time. I'm waiting for a prescription prednisone to try to get the swelling down. I use ice and heat which helps but the swelling comes back as soon as I get up. The weird thing we saw was my bones on the ex-ray look like I have lost a 3rd of bone mass is gone! It hurts to put my foot down.
    I'm just wondering if you would know what that sounds like? I just want to walk again and be able to go back to work. The place where I have to go to with the doctors that are supposed to give me free care, it doesn't make me feel safe cause they should have called me for the MRI appointment and doctors appointment have not called me..I'm not sure what to do because we haven't heard from anyone and it's been 5 days. I'm worried about osteoporosis, which I've been for a long time. Sorry for this long post. Thank you.

    Sir my 4 metatarsal bones are fractured and Doctors have just applied a plaster for one week and said after one week we make an X-ray and if the fracture fixed then we apply the main plaster if it was not fixed then we have to make an operation. Plz tell me is it possible to fix fracture with plaster and I saw the X-ray bones are separated from each other

    I went in to a pediatrist with the same symtonms all he did was an ultra sound and say its because I have large arches
    So stupid its been 2 months and just getting worse.

      jesse taylor It's always a good idea to get a second opinion when you feel you are not getting the best care. Actually it's almost always a good idea to get a second opinion if there are any questions at all about a treatment plan.

      jesse taylor Buy good quality shoes! Both of my daughters and I have a very high arches in our feet.

    • @AGibsonJ
      @AGibsonJ 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The best thing I did for my high arches was to get a properly fitted shoe insert from the podiatrist. Ended the planter facititis from high arches.
      Now I have to find another solution for this metatarsal fracture ... [ice treatment, temporary boot or shoes with higher heels [or heel inserts to keep the heel higher than the toes to avoid flexing the front of foot upwards... until it heals].

    They are VERY DIFFICULT to diagnose EVEWN WITH x-rays as only a very small topical change in the bone is apparent early on

    • @Footankle
      @Footankle  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      An experienced practitioner can usually diagnose metatarsal stress fractures and stress reactions quite easily with examination. You are right, however, a relatively small percentage show up on xray.

    I’m not completely sure what I’ve done, but I’m a competitive gymnast and a high level, which means I do hard impacting skills. About a month ago I had pain in the top of my foot, and it was swollen and bruised. I would rate my pain at that time an 7/10. I still worked out and practiced fully. And currently my foot still hurts when I land my skills, and if I land harder than normal it hurts really bad, but dies down after a few minutes. I would currently rate my pain 5/10. If I push on the top of my foot it specifically hurts on the base of my 2nd metatarsal bone in my right foot. I’m worried about the cost of seeing a doctor, if there is a chance nothing is wrong. But I also am nervous that I would be out for a while and I only have one year left in gymnastics before I graduate! What should I do?

      It would be much more expensive to miss an injury that needs to be treated. See a foot doctor specializing in sports medicine asap.

      Rub some salt and ginger on it. Then, marinate it in garlic paste. Afterwards, squeeze a hint of lemon and powder it with oregano. Should do the trick!

      +CV TV It depends on the extent of the fractures. Be sure to see a podiatrist or orthopedist for this injury to get proper treatment.
