- If you're heading up to Scotland on a trip via the A74M, this is a great little excursion off the M74 - especially if you're stopping en-route in Moffat. Come off the M74 at Lockerbie and head towards Dumfries then up to Carron Bridge where you pick up the A702 which runs through the Dalveen Pass. It will bring you back to the M74, but you can drop back down to Moffat on a link road and stay off the motorway.
Thanks to Robert Johnstone for the tip!
I also watched the Ayrshire Vlogsters video the other day and the odd thing is I have done this road about six or seven times last year including a couple of times with the Ayrshire vlogster and also put out a video on it and I still watched your video lol. Pity it was wet much better in the dry, liking the way you pronounce Moffat 😀😀
😀😂👍 Was still good in the wet 😀Oh no am I saying Moffat wrong. I’m going to have to find some way to hear it said properly now!
@@thebearfacedbiker not really saying it wrong as that’s the way it’s spelt, but we pronounce it slightly different you seem to emphasise the last three letters more than we do, glad you enjoyed the road there are some cracking roads around there if you get the chance to come back it’s an area that’s often overlooked by people 👍👍
👍 Jealous of you living around those sorts of roads. Enjoy!
Love the Moffat area. Stopped at the Buccleuch Arms there last time. Great Hotel and there's certainly great roads including this one. 👌
Aye 👍 That road and area beats some of the more popular and well known destinations in my book.
The Dalveen is a great road but when it was closed a few years ago I found the next pass through Wanlock Head, the Menock Pass, it’s a road you should really try if in the area and probably my preferred route now👍
Thanks and wow - just had a quick look on street view - that and the next route above on B740 both also look amazing. What a great area, will definitely be back 😀👍
You didn't want to get the new XR that has better gearing?
I didn’t, no. It was time for a change of direction and something that’s a bigger contrast to the R.
Hay dalveen is my name
You seem to have a pass named after you! 😀👍
