If you really want to be mind-blown, check out Whitney Houston's live Grammy performance of "One Moment in Time." For Mariah Carey you have to hear her first single "Vision of Love," which catapulted her into superstardom.
But if we're trying to teach Jay about Mariah... as a young man who would never have intentionally listened to that type of music at the time, it was Emotions and that ridiculous "whistle register" that made me sit up and take notice. It's also more fast paced. He's not into the ballads.
Didn’t We Almost Have It All- Whitney. #1 chart topper and her vocal range in this beautiful song is unmatched by anyone. She sings all 88 piano keys. Love to see you react to that one!
Mariah: I’d start with her first song Vision of Love. Also: Fantasy, My All, Always Be My Baby, Dreamlover, Emotions, Hero, are good introductory songs.
I'm repeating myself from another comment, but I think Emotions has to be the first, to get Jay on board. Those insane whistle notes she hits felt like they had to be fake the first time I heard it. Plus it's a little faster paced. Hard to believe that he hasn't heard Fantasy by now, especially when it became a hit all over again from that Free Guy movie.
For J, definitely Always Be My Baby, Hero and Dreamlover then move on to her collaborations like When You Believe with Whitney and One Sweet Day with Boys II Men.
Whitney had nothing short of a one-of-a-kind voice...naturally flawless and she made it look effortless. From her, I recommend "Saving All My Love For You", "All The Man I Need" and "Where Do Broken Hearts Go"...those are my personal faves from her. Great reaction as always....and now we wait for the hair pic! :D

Whitney and Janet did help pave the way for those other women. Believe me with Madonna Whitney and Janet, they were the vocal Trinity at the time and pave the way for the era ladies of the late 90s.
There are so many powerful Whitney songs. Her "Star Spangled Banner" performance is the best EVER. For a really pumping dance tune, I would suggest "I'm Your Baby Tonight."
There's a reason Whitney was known as The Voice. This is one of my faves. You should check out the music video/live performance of Didn't We Almost Have It All. That blew me away and solidified her voice as a true powerhouse. I usually don't like remakes of songs but she killed the remake of Chaka Khan's I'm Every Woman. Her icon status became permanent with the Dolly Parton written song I Will Always Love You. It's a great song that I grew to dislike only bc it was played all the time everywhere. It's from the hit movie The Bodyguard starring Whitney and Kevin Costner. But seriously, every Whitney song is fantastic and she gives her all on every record. Love your channel and stay blessed!
My favorite Whitney song ... perfect mix pop/rock ... and the extended "emotional" note at the end is proof positive that she was one of the best singers of all time.

This is my favorite uptempo song from Whitney “The Voice” Houston! Please react to “All The Man I Need” live at the Welcome Home Heroes concert. Her live vocals are top notch.
This song was so damn sexy without being vulgar. Artists don't seem to know how to do that anymore. Love the simplicity of this one - guitar, drums, vocals. And those vocals - ouch! Love when she does that little raspy bit.
Her nickname "The Voice" was not given by an accident... The music is dated a bit, but the energy of the performance and her voice is exceptional. She is voted for the 2nd of the greatest singer ever by the Rolling Stone Magazine.
Britney Spears should not be spoken in the same category as Mariah, Whitney, Celine, or Christina .She's a performer more than a singer. Mariah's songs - Vision of Love, Don't Wanna Cry, Emotions, Love Takes Time, My All, Vanishing (this one holds a special place for me because it is one of first songs I listened to as a teen when my grandmother passed), and One Sweet Day with Boys II Men.

Exactly! Mariah is the diva of divas! I would say Christina Aguilera's voice is almost as good as Mariah's. Britney cannot vocally compete with them at all. No disrespect to Britney, btw- she is a diva in her own way. Just not in the same league as Christina, Mariah, or Whitney.
@@jenniferwilson2637Don't forget Celine Dion. Mariah, Celine, Whitney & Christina. I consider that the Mt. Rushmore of pop music female vocalists. Actually, I'll put Aretha Franklin up there too! 💯🌟❤️
Celine, Mariah and Whitney = the vocal trinity They represent what it means to be a well-rounded artist/vocalist, and no one has ever come close to their success. Not to mention the vocal aspect of it all. They are the definition of technique, emotion, versatility, power, etc.

Love love love all the man that I need saving all my love for you I wanna dance with someone it just goes on and on with her beautiful bad self and then of course her version of the star spangled banner that no one and I mean NO ONE can outdo.
Britney is not in the same vocal league as Mariah.
This is my favorite song by Whitney.
Yep Brittany isn’t even close.
Britney Spears is too overrated.
@@jenniferwilson2637Don't forget Celine Dion. Mariah, Celine, Whitney & Christina. I consider that the Mt. Rushmore of pop music female vocalists. Actually, I'll put Aretha Franklin up there too! 💯🌟❤️
Celine, Mariah and Whitney = the vocal trinity
They represent what it means to be a well-rounded artist/vocalist, and no one has ever come close to their success. Not to mention the vocal aspect of it all. They are the definition of technique, emotion, versatility, power, etc.
The Mariah commentary shocked my senses so much lol. She’s one of the greatest singers ever. I hope Amber helps him.
💯
Wow. It's been a minute since i heard this one!! Talk about being transported to another time and place!
❤❤❤❤
Got to do HERO!!
that part at the end makes me cry 😢! RIP we love you Whitney!
My fave Whitney song of ALL. TIME!
Wow! Mariah Carey is UN matched! Yes an Awesome voice! But she was instrumental in writing mini number one and top 10 hits! She is the top of the all-time best selling list!
Y'all should really do a reaction to Whitney's live performance of "The Greatest Love of All."
This vocal Legend Owned the 80's and 90's and remains one of my favorite singers of all time! I love how in almost all of her videos you can see her keeping the beat and time with her microphone hand as she sings! DIDN'T WE ALMOST HAVE IT ALL and the Live version of THAT'S WHAT FRIENDS ARE FOR with Stevie Wonder and Luther Vandros are two MUST HEARS!!! And for AMBER, Barry White was Big And Beautiful!
This is my favorite Whitney song! I Will Always Love You was overplayed so much! Mariah's songs Fantasy and Honey are bangers. ❤
Said it before, will say it again. If you're not taking time to listen to the songs you've reacted to of Whitney LIVE... you're just missing out on her true artistry. There is nothing like Whitney live. The things she can do with her voice are Superhuman. 90s Whitney. Look for her in a blue dress, singing to the troops... amazing. She doesn't disappoint. EVER.
No one better. Today or yesterday..
Whitney's 80's "bob" was classic and I know you could rock it girl!!!!
Have to listen to “I Will Always Love You”. A song written by Dolly Parton but a top selling hit for Whitney Houston. 🎶❤️🎶
Love this one of many songs and movies she did .RIP Whitney you are loved and missed but not forgotten from me and my daughter.
Whitneys live version of star spangled banner is the best one . Its a must see
One of the first songs that I remember Whitney doing was, "Greatest Love Of All." I was hooked after that.
Mariah Carey songs to react to: Vision of Love (her first single), Can’t Let Go, Emotions, Make It Happen, My All, One Sweet Day (w/ Boyz II Men). Mariah and Whitney were at their career heights around the same time and the media tried to pit them against each other, but they were friends and respected each other. They’re both legends.
How could you forget “When You Believe” ?
@@adnap I couldn’t remember the exact name of the song, and after editing my comment, like 3 times, I gave up. I just hoped a kind soul would add it to the list. Thank you, kind soul!☺️
Whitney Houston's "One Moment in Time" is amazing. Mariah Carey's "Vision of Love" will reveal how much she can do with her voice!
