      How is it at highway speeds? I have a drz400 but I want a 6th gear, more power and fuel injection. I want a bike that can eat highway miles too though. Maybe ride it to work or from one state to another. I’m just worried that 700cc is too small for long highway rides.

    It's a bit disappointing they didn't fix that super low-slung exhaust which is going to get pushed into the swingarm when you invevitably end up dumping the bike when you're offroad. It sounds nice though, not gonna lie.

  • @soulrebelno1
    @soulrebelno1 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

    I had a Ténéré 700 for a year, and I love some aspects of the bike, such as the CP2 engine, which is a peach. But, I found it to be unbelievably top-heavy, and the high centre of gravity made the bike feel very heavy. It's also a very tall bike, with very soft suspension, and with that 21" front wheel, it's extremely easy to drop the bike. If you ever do drop one, it lays very flat to the ground, so turn the wheel, point it at the sky, and use the handlebars as a lever.

      @@DomingoRogersNC I went back to my first love, a sports bike/naked with 17" wheels! I ended up getting a great deal from a local dealer on a brand-new pre-registered Suzuki SV650. It's such a cracking bike, and it puts a smile on my face every time I ride the thing. The only problem is I'm 6' 2", and it's a little bit cramped for me after a while. I was going to get a Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX tourer, but then Suzuki go and announce the GSX-S1000GX! It looks like the bike I've been looking for, and this time around I can get a demo, so I'm booked in for sometime in the new year, probably January, I can't wait! 😁

    I do the same thing you did at 11:30, bars right then left foot down haha. It's a tall bike.
    I *LOVE* mine. I'm 5'8" with a 31 inch inseam, and with 20mm lowering links in the rear and a lower seat concepts seat, it's damn near perfect. Renthal fatbars also improved my hold, I no longer get numb after 30 minutes LOL.
    I haven't done any "serious" offroading yet, still at 550 ish miles, but you are right, this thing is born for it. With the lowered rear (20 minute job), it actually feels a little more stable on the street too, and I've got it leaned over to a 45 degree angle practicing low speed stuff (hard to get a knee down with this tall of a bike LOL). Crash bars (SRC moto) and rear pannier racks (Tusk) make it impervious to tip overs, and A LOT easier to pick up.

    I’d say that it’s a ‘dual sport’ bike vs an adventure tourer like the GS. Along the same lines as an Africa Twin. Both can definitely handle the road too. They are just heavily off road biased. Like a 70/30 or 60/40

      Would you share your experience with the Super Tenere (ST)? I have considered this bike or the Tracer 9 g t. I am 6'02" 240 so I think the bigger ST would fit me better than the Tracer. I am in the midwest. So, I would never ride the "Twisties." I am looking for a commuter that is comfortable ride, fun, "powerful," protective from cold, rain, or other bad weather.
      I wish Greg would ride the ST and give his opinion too on who the ST would be suited for. Thanks for any words you offer about how the ST could work as a bike for me. I considered a Harley but I don't want all the bulkyness and high expense. Thank you!!

      @@EM-eg3qcIm 6'5 and love the ST. I did a few adjustments for "tall people" to fit on it better, everything else is stock. Im in the big city in midwest also and its awesome for that and whatever "twisties" I have around me I absolutely love it. I would buy another in a heartbeat, as a matter of fact, once this one gets too old I WILL buy another. It is a heavy ADV bike, but ultra reliable (compared to the GS or ktm) and cheap and easy to do your own maintenance. I would give it 9.5 out of 10. Also, its not very common and I love that about it, not many people have one :))

    • @durtyred86

      As an Enduro rider I'd think you would prefer a lighter bike for crazy stuff. Pretty much everyone who has had a T-7 would disagree with you on the T-7's capability offroad. Then again, it COULD be rider error?

      I have a KTM 300 and a KTM 500 for offroad. From the testing I`ve seen of T7`s their version of offroad is smooth gravel or easy twin track. The T7 in serious offroad is useless. Former MX and Enduro rider with 35+ years experience , no rider error.

    That dash button only turns ABS ON. To turn ABS off requires multiple button pushes in the menu system. ABS resets to ON when the key switch or kill switch are used. There is no shortcut to get back to last used ABS setting. I would strongly consider the T7 for a middle weight bare bones touring bike. A very appealing niche. Many are reporting extremely high mileage with no electrical or mechanical issues in the first gen bikes. Great engineering Yamaha. This is never emphasized enough when talking about bikes for remote places. Bikes that don't have mechanical or electrical problems. Highest possible performance is sexy until the bike is a few years old, out putting down thousands of miles, on your own, without a support truck and film crew. Then ultimate reliability, low and easy maintenance rule. You are greatly overstating what an average+ good rider can do in the dirt with a 450# bike. The bike can do a lot with a top rider. But it is really really not a bike for average riders to take on technical trails. Dirt roads, yes. That 21 inch wheel and extra suspension will be great for people who tour long distances and have to use graded but unpaved roads. Like say the pan american highway to Alaska or some of the black country discovery routes. It makes a huge difference on washboard, pot holes, and soft spots.
