"Holiday" is a banger! Please consider a listen. Also, "Time of Your Life" is classic Green Day. They are wonderful. And, "American Idiot". Let's face it, there's a lot of Green Day to listen to. "American Idiot" became a Broadway play/hit.
Green Day is a band that has evolved a lot over the years. In their early days, especially with their most popular early album, Dookie, they're very punk. Over the years, they've shifted a lot (much to many of their early fan's dismay, but I don't think the shift is all bad). There's definitely good songs in their later work work, and this album, American Idiot, is not only in the middle of the transition, but also their most successful album. Their most popular song, one of their early songs, is probably Basket Case. Other good early songs include When I Come Around, Longview, and Good Riddance (Time of Your Life. I wouldn't be surprised if you've heard that last one, by the way. It's a very popular song for graduations and the like since its release in 1997. Other good songs on American Idiot include the title track, Holiday, and Wake Me Up When September Ends. 21 Guns is a later song that I enjoy
@ShariSez1 I'm not disagreeing. But many fans felt they moved too far away from their punk roots and became what they were against, or something like that
Reminds me of me... "has evolved a lot over the years. In [her] early days... very punk. Over the years, [she's] shifted a lot..." LOL... The last Green Day concert I attended was in the early 2000s & I was in my 30s. I felt SO OLD! The only other "old" people my age there were accompanying teens & pre-teens. I was certainly the oldest person in the mosh pit. I'm not kidding that I actually said the following when I found my boyfriend after leaving the pit "kids today don't know how to fucking MOSH, man!"
Nice! Here is a few Green Day songs from them to react, Basket Case, Holiday, 21 Guns, American idiot, Jesus of suburbia, Welcome To Paradise, Longview, Oh love and (Whole American Idiot album) Thank you for this reaction!!
Oh yay. Thrilled to see you hear them. Everything on the *American Idiot* album is fantastic. The rare album I always listen to straight thru. So glad you like them.
I'm not going to go into details about what this or any song is meant to mean. I believe each song has its own personal meaning. First of all, I like a lot of Green Day's music. I gradually learned more about the music they made after their prime. Boulevard Of Broken Dreams right now makes me think of the feeling of walking alone as there has become broken friendships over political matters. I'm not trying to get political here but I can not stand all of this left and right BS. I will stat on my own path because I know that it takes 2 wings for a bird or airplane to fly. Let's not let politics break our dreams!
I heard green day before my children did! I bought my sons their first Green Day CDs! Now I’m a grandma of seven who introduces her granddaughter who is 19 to great music from my era all the way through her parents! The beautiful thing is that she shares her music with me!
Dookie was a phenomenal album, and blew the doors wide open for punk-pop-rock in the 90's. Some of their earliest songs are still their best: Basket Case, When I Come Around, Welcome to Paradise, Burnout, Longview...
You definitely need to check out more Green Day. There is so much more out there and if you liked this you'll definitely like their other stuff. American Idiot was a strong album. I really just love their stuff from the beginning of their career to now.
Me too. I'll never understand when people say any period of their music sucks, it's all great to me. Of course their style changed, they've been making music for over 30 years at this point, people change and grow. I remember hearing Kerplunk BEFORE Dookie came along and thinking "this band is gonna take over the world someday".. I've been a fan ever since.
Green Day’s a great band, despite any criticism they get for “simplistic” songs (which isn’t completely true). You commented on the drummer and yea - Tre Cool (the drummer), is really talented, but interestingly, he wasn’t the original Green Day drummer, although he joined before they got big in the early 90s. This is one of Green Day’s slower songs. Their library is vast and amazing. Listen to anything on Dookie or Insomniac, or (this album) American Idiot.
That was really a heartfelt interpretation of the song, Jovaughn. As a life long single person, I stopped waiting for someone else to tell me what to do or for someone else to give me definition, purpose, or meaning. Best decision EVER! (Much less drama too ;) )
You should check out their songs "Wake me up when September ends" and "American Idiot". Like Boulevard of Broken Dreams, they're all off the same album release and all awesome One of my favourite bands and Tre Cool is my fave drummer of any band, so I'm so glad showcased them here. Another great band I recommend is Simple Plan
When I was 15, myfather was transferred to a big city. I had to leave behind every friend I ever knew, my school, church, my life. In my dreams, I flew back to the city I loved....but.....No one could see me. Life continued on without me. I could see my friends and loved ones carrying on without me. I was alone. Unseen. I saw them through windows as I walked in the dark on city streets... And back in real life? I was still walking alone--so hard to make friends in a different culture, city. So alone. This song COMPLETELY described how I felt FORTY YEARS AGO when it happend to me.
American Idiot, from start to finish is great! There’s a lot of older stuff that is great too; Basket Case. One of my favorite memories was driving 7 hours to see Green Day with my then 15 yr old son.
My favorite band! This song has always spoken to me and has become very meaningful. Most of Billie Joe’s lyrics end up meaning a lot to me, actually. “Still Breathing” is another more recent song of theirs and it was just what I needed at the time. I love these guys.
Finally 🤍🤍🤍 thank you..seen them live... hell of a show 😁 I think you would enjoy some others 🌟"when i come around" 🌟"Longview" 🌟"Good Riddance" 🌟" wake me up when September ends" AND 🌟"Jesus of Suburbia" -great song... a long song that switches up on you (like "Bohemian Rapacity") and it blends perfectly. Its a must listen to 😁✌
Jesus of Suburbia is five song put in to one, when learning it on guitar it's great because you learn one short song at a time and then put them together and eventually play it right through once you have learned all five. A real fun song to learn and play on guitar and believe it or not nothing to technical to play, apart from the length of the song it is very simple to play.
@@dazzanomas9418 Sadly i have never learned how to play and instrument. Butttt if i do someday the the itch to learn guitar i willl definitely start with this song. Thanks 🙂
My oldest son is a huge fan of Green Day. In 2013, he was 14 at that time, they where coming to Denmark. I got tickets for us, and we went to see them. That was the best mother and son day ever! We both loved the concert. What an amazing live band!
I've been creating my own playlists (to use the modern term) since I was 10 years old (I'm now 64.) I always try to put songs together on a playlist that "go together." I usually put Seether's "Broken" immediately following "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams." Highly recommended.
This and Wake Me Up when September Ends are my favorite Green Day songs. When I was stationed in S. Korea, I was due to come back to the states in August, so it became my theme song lol.
Green Day is awesome! One of the best parts about them is that they have so many hits to enjoy. The lyrics to all of his songs are pretty deep, and have a lot of meaning. Holiday and American Idiot are just a few great tunes. Their live stuff is A1 too.
Those punk band always amaze me. They look like they don't even want to be there, are not really into making music, aren't any good at it and then they start and it's just awesome.
I think all of your followers are mostly quite a bit older than you are. Is it just me that feels almost mentor-ish to young JoVaughn when it comes to this old music? Good choice, 90s punk/alternative. Actually he married a girl he met at a concert of theirs in Minneapolis. They married over the July 4th holiday in his mom's backyard in 1994. He and Adrienne have 2 sons, both in their 20s.
Great reaction my man! Love your reaction videos. You should take a look at “Wake me up when September ends”, he wrote the song because his father passed away in September back when he was very young so he used to spend the days after sleeping in his locked room and when his Mom knocked he used to say “Wake me up when September ends”. Another classic from them is “21 Guns”. Enjoy and keep up the amazing work! Hugs from the DR.

same here, my favourite too.. It's got that nostalgic night time vibe
There's a lot of people who want to hear When September ends or Basket case.
So many good ones. Some if the music on the supernatural sound track is cool too. A lot if oldies rock.
Wake me up when september will be great.
Basket case, good riddance, when I come around, warning, longview, there's so many i'd recommend he react to!
