I highly suggest 'A Gunshot to the Head of Trepidation' off the same album. AMAZING!

Their first big record was Ascendancy, came with 4 very successful singles. this track, Like like To Flies, A Gunshot To The Head of Trepdation (should be your next "then" if you ask me ;D) and also Dying In Your Arms. The latter being the more radio friendly one but this track and those other 2 mentioned are RIPPERS no doubt. Most metalheads that were going through their teenage/highschool years between the middle to late 2000's had that record on their playlists more than likely.

      Hey pal,
Their first was Ember to Inferno. Full of rippers, can be found as Ab Initio on Spotify as they remastered it.
Aaaaand second correction, all tracks on Ascendancy are rippers. How dare you discount Drowned and Torn Asunder. How dare you, sir.

@@DanielRoberts1984 Hence why I said "Big" record dude because I feel like they blew up way more then with Ascendancy. Ember has plenty of rippers too for sure!

Maman! Coming through with the old vs new Trivium reaction!
And I thought Trivium Tuesdays were already glorious!
As you can hear Trivium have always been great, and you were spot on about only the drummer changing.
and they've been great with everything from competent to excellent drummers.
From when their original drummer, Travis Smith, left in 2009 they had a revolving door of 3 other drummers into 2017.
But the core of the band has always been superb and able to carry any slack...
But then you get Alex and he's the first on the drums who seems to match the core's level of instrumentation and even pushes them to step it up.
I haven't watched the 2nd part yet but I'm interested to see if it will be noticeable the element, that 'it' factor that Alex adds to what was already a great group.
    1k coming up fast bro.
I'm hoping for some Gojira real soon.
I pinky swear you'll love it.

Matt joined trivium when he was twelve! He was their guitarist then the lead singer left. They had a different bassist for a while. But they started out as a three piece band there for a bit. Also, trivium has always been a bit and at times very overtly political. The song the defiant off the new cd is the closest to ascendancy Ive heard since ascendancy. You should compare the deceived and the defiant. I’ve been calling the defiant the deceived part ii. Both are in my top 5 song by them.

LucciLAND Pillars of Serpents is a song by Trivium. Originally released on their first album in 03 but they re recorded it in 2017 with Alex.

Content Breed Contamination is a great lyrical song by these guys about injustice and police brutality about a murder from late 90’s i believe ... its from the album the Crusade which came out in 2006 right after this album ( Ascendency )

Tosin Abasi is arguably one of, if not the best current guitarist in the world. Along with fellow guitarist, Javier Reyes and drummer, Matt Garstka, Animals as Leaders are truly masters of their craft!!

Funny you mentioned "the younger they were the harder they played." For the most part, it's true. In the case for Judas Priest, it was the exact opposite. They went from glam metal to heavy metal. Their most recent album, by far, is their heaviest.

    • @MrMt42304
      @MrMt42304 4 ปีที่แล้ว

I can safely assume the reason they got so heavy is because of a line change, namely their drummer.

Actually, I suggest two songs. First, The Brain Dance. Then, Arithmophobia. This way, you can experience both sides of Animals As Leaders. The soft, melodic and beautiful to the heavy and complex.

Might I suggest a song from Animals as Leaders? They don't have a vocalist or a bassist. Just two eight-string guitars (thus the reason for no bass) and a crazy-fast drummer. You may need a lesson in music theory to catch the odd time signatures, LOL!! I always see people trying to nod their head to it, like TOOL, and lose the beat.
