I feel like you can’t really be watching someone’s hands too much though, best look for his chest is because that’s where the punches will be angling from. Another thing, just keep that distance and if you’re taller space out your opponent with a jab, if you’re shorter, come in closer and step-in going for body shots or jawshots+ side step

Have to watch out... this is where someone with good fundamentals is going to start feinting, getting a read, looking to move you into a shot. Double jab you. If they try leaning, dipping away as you fire a long right hand... you can aim at their shoulder and land a clean head shot as they move into it. Well somrone did this to me lol. I was so frustrated by a great double jab, feinting, changing timing on the jab. Then started sinking right hands to my body. I started reacting to the right hand and they put a left hook upstairs behind it. The more i tried to create space the more momentum he had. Humbled by a 45 yr old man in sparring. Felt like a child. They didn't break a sweat, i was so reactive and looking to create space he explained i was doing all the work for him.

Eye, shoulder, and head feints to walk your opponent into punches that you want to setup is how you knock people out. Probing with your lead and rear hand. Its all about setting up your opponent and being in 80/20 exchanges. Circling your opponent with an active guard also creates openings. Good video.

I know a lot of people dislike Floyd Mayweather Jr. and that is ok. But he was on top of everything in the ring. Everything he did had a purpose. He is my favorite fighter to watch to this day. He gets a lot of criticism but he's a smart fighter, he knows how to stick n move and has a great defense. I don't know how many of my friends hated that I would root for him and that's cuz what I saw was a very smart fighter who was hard to hit and was fast when he'd hit you, one hit to his 4 hits is what you saw out of him and he'd beat you by points. These fools that say goes heads up are the ones that get knocked the fuck out. Why you trying to go to sleep for? Floyd never tried going to sleep, he was putting foolios to sleep...lol🤣

I’d say some guys have great natural instincts & reflexes but you really become great defensively when you understand how to judge range accurately & making sure you’re at a distance that requires minimal effort to successfully defend yourself either with head movement or footwork. The last part is actually controlling your opponents offense by setting him/her up, intentionally giving them looks that they “think” is there and bait them, a prime example is watching Floyd stick his head out, we all shout don’t reach because we know it’s a setup for that pullback counter. Of course, as you move up to fighting more experienced fighters, this only works so much, after a few times they’ll figure it out but for most people they won’t. Defense is just as much mental & preplanning as it is physical. Now if you have all of that combined with IQ & great instincts & reflexes, that’s your Shakurs of the world.

Yoo wspp coach, really appreciate you for making these videos 💯 I’m 19 yrs old & weigh 125, I’m a southpaw and try my best to train as hard as I can & prioritise boxing, I just wish I could boxing full time but work 8 hours shift from my job, I’m broke asf rn but will figure it out soon, I’ve been training myself for about 10 or 11 months now (18 yrs old).. doing road work, bag, jump rope, shadow box, sprints, ect. I just don’t have a coach yet cause I don’t have the money yet, so I watch videos like yours to help me out, so thanks again. I do road work at 4am before I start work (6am) Monday Thursday (3Miles) Tuesday (6Miles) Friday Spirnts) I feel like I’m ready to start fighting already in amateurs, and know deep down I have potential, so essentially I’m working with what I have and can right now. Videos like yours help a lot. + I know I started mad late but tbh idc it’s already locked in and this is what I want to do, so yeah basically I’m hustling tf out to make this work. Hopefully this shit works.

Great practical advice. Too many channels just dishing out drills and tips without teaching the actual practical knowledge to go with it. Obviously drilling is crucial but its important to approach ur drills with this mindstate of training how you’d fight instead of just making it about perfecting a certain drill without actually understanding/visualizing the scenario which you are drilling for. Like i said we need that too but this type of practical advice is whats really missing from youtube boxing content in my opinion. I also suggest coach d baltimore boxing too. You guys have a similar practical approach i think you would appreciate his stuff.

One thing to add to #2 is while constantly moving, do not move in a repeated sequence that can show a pattern in your movement thus allowing your opponent to easily predict where you'll move next

Hopefully you can show some drills to practice that. I’ve been Thinking about getting a heavy bag and a speed bag. I’ve had them in the past. I also like getting two tennis balls on a strong string hanging from the ceiling one ball about head height and one about lower chest height. Just poke a hole in the balls and run the string through them. You hit one and the other moves. And I Loved the video and your demeanor. Thanks.

This is 6.5/10 advice, I'll tell you why. What he is teaching, IS truly great advice, because this method helps you to stay CALM and see things clearly. However, if you truly want to see punches coming, you need to be focused on your opponents breath work. Before a person throws a punch, they will expose themselves by taking a quick breath. THAT'S how you truly can know when a punch is coming. God bless.

Great advice. One thing I’ve found that’s worked for me is constant drilling with a slip rope or swinging slip bag. I’ve taken it a step further by placing small strips of black tape in the center of my glasses so as to block my center vision and heighten my peripheral vision as i do rounds on the slip bag. After training like this for so long subtle movements, breath exhalations, and foot movements by the opponent are instinctually picked up on and countered through trained countering techniques plus the strengthened peripheral vision allows all this to happen without even thinking about it in the ring.
