My dad had a 65 Impala 283 with a powerglide. White/black vinyl top, A/C and the Chevy wire wheel covers on it. This video just threw me back to those days!
My first car was a black on black 2 door 65 Impala wirh ac327 and 2 speed power glide . I bought it in 1975 and didnt get my licence till 1976 , i worked part time at DQ and had a buddy that worked at Big Town Auto parts and i took him my check every week and he would sell me bolt on speed parts and chrome goodies for the car . I found a set of chrome reverse wheels with baby moon caps and bought a set of recap tires for it so when i started driving it to school it was pretty decked out , One other guy at school had a 65 SS same color but he had chrome slots on his , but i liked my moons better !! Still love that body style !!!
I had a brand new one in 1965, it was also blue, but a lighter shade of blue. It had the 300 HP engine, but it had an automatic transmission with the shifter on the console. It was a cool car, but not all that fast.
I have my 65 SS Automatic. I have never seen the square mirrors. Originally they did not have a passengers mirror. I have the round mirror with the Chevy Bowtie, drivers only. Great "Survivor"
My dad had a 65 impala 283. Had the 283 rebuilt in 84. The guy that built it use to build race cars so really over built it. My brother and i had so many fond memories with my dad. Ive always wanted to find one again.
3 on the tree Super Sport. Wow unusual! My grand father special ordered a 67 Impala 4 door! Beautiful blue with a blacke vinyl top . It had climate control not just AC with a temp. dial. He ordered it with a 3 on the tree to exercise left leg. Diabetes left it weak. But the kicker was the engine. 396/325 hp
My granddad had a '65 Impala SS nearly identical to this. Same colors and trim level. The only difference was it had an automatic transmission and the special wheel covers that came with the SS.
When I was a kid in the mid 1970's, we had a 1965 Impala 4 dr. It had the 283 and a power glide. No A/C, but power steering/brakes. That was a fun car. I drove it up and down the block when I was only 14! Got busted by Dad, but he just said "don't let me catch you doing that again"... Well, he never did "catch me again"! ha, ha.. 😆 I would leave it the way it is, as it's a survivor for sure. Just get the mechanicals up and going and freshen up whatever it needs, but make it a "daily driver" for sure!
Same, when I turned 16 Dad tossed me the keys and said it was mine. It was in decline but I got a couple of years out of it before the rust of the Great White North took hold. What a beautiful car and amazing the shape it was still in after all those years of storage. Great job shining this beauty up and I envy the new owner.
A friend of mine found a 65 Impala SS 327 4spd black/black no rust it had 3 sets of hubcaps in the trunk. He cleaned it up got it running and sold it for $35,000. He also got a 61 Corvette out of the same garage.
Nice solid car with a near perfect interior. Don't think I've ever seen one with a three on the tree and console if this is all orginal it is definitely a rare combination.
A buddy of mine bought a Biscayne with basically this same body in about '69. It was also a 3 on the tree, and took a full body swing to put her through the gears. Him and I were driving it home from the lot, and pulled into a Burger King for some quick lunch on the fly. I ran in to order and a couple minutes later I was picked up off the ground from behind. My friend had been doing something under the dash when he pulled out an envelope. I t was packed with cash, and looked like maybe the owner had cashed his paycheck and headed to the tavern and just forgot? I don't remember just how much it was, but it more than payed for his new Chevy, and we sat down for a great lunch down the road!!
My Dad had an 68 chevy Biscayne ...really cool looking car...IMHO is was a more stylized version of the Impala. He had the head rebuilt around 1975 when the timing went out. He must have drove the wheels off. I have a newer chevy(05 colbalt) the timing went out and I'm having the head rebuilt and timing replaced. Some things never change. Honestly I'd get rid of mine except for the sentimental value
Almost exactly like the 65 IMPALA I had...327 with 3 on the tree..Same blue color except mine had bench seats with clear plastic covers on them..I took the covers off to find minty beautiful black cloth....Good luck with that one..NICE CAR..
My neighbor had a 1966 there on the colum burgundy mint condition he also had salvage yard on Harper avenue Detroit Michigan he has long passed away back in the day gm power Buick Pontiac all gm quality I good whit car I had a white Caprice chrome motor 350 air shock blue vinyl top
I also remember when my Das would take us fishing and on one occasion when we were leaving a private fishing site that was gated , so someone (me) had to get out and close the gate behind us...dad thought it would be funny to take off before I could get back in the car(68 biscayne) to see how fast I could run. He said I got up to around 20 mph before he stopped. 😂
That's an amazing survivor. Very solid, usual problem areas are in great condition. This car deserves a complete body restoration. It is a documented 3spd A/C car with a shift plate delete console. Danube blue is the best color in '65. Chevrolet produced one million passenger cars in '65, a production record that has yet to be broken.

We bought it new and I can tell you any 327 3 speed car is very rare and mine is also the 300 horse version, most were 250 even in the SS.Not sure what to do with mine.I lived in Arizona for 18 years and couldn't even find a rust free car in that state and nothing rust there.I saved it because of the rarity and would still like to find a decent body.
