I just picked up a later percussion one, is 60 cal , left is rifle, right smooth bore Mines trigger guard is iron but sliding patch box lid is horn. Has a back sight with 3 fold up leaves. Is missing one hammer and both nipples for some reason I got it at a local auction I go to for $90…I’m sure the other bidders just thought it was another muzzle loading shotgun I have bought more than a few old muzzleloaders, one was loaded with broken glass! I always check no before bidding and bid accordingly, often it can give you big head aches You are braver than me to shoot an old load out since you don’t know what it is. I would worry about if some slow head had loaded it with smokeless
Thank you, Mike. I'm very glad to see this. Is this your personal piece, or was it borrowed from dear Jessica's collection? Definitely a grand old piece!
Nice piece, Mike. Glad to see it get the TLC and the workout it deserves.
Imagine when this piece was new... hunting cape buffalo with a flintlock! And today I learned that straight polygonal bores were a thing.
More likely deer in the Black Forest.
Amazing Engineering for the age of the rifle with two different barrels
Sound quality is improving. Could still use some work.
Great video! I really enjoyed it, and will be watching for future posts. Thank you!
I want a cape gun now 😂

Nipples are easy to replace. A hammer can be fabricated, mirror image of the remaining one.

This one is mine. We'll cover some of hers in future as well. Next up: More knives.
