Something magical about the Pro-Stock cars actually being something you could go buy.

0% of that car was factory original. You most definitely couldn’t just go buy it.

I meant the dealership cars looked very similar to the race cars. A thunderbird in the parking lot looked nearly identical body wise. Or a Firebird. Or a Dodge Daytona. Ford Tempo, Olds Cutlass etc. I don’t really recognize todays cars.

In addition to the drag racing track in Sonoma, there is also a race track for GTP, GTO, GTU, Nascar, Trans-AM and some other smaller sports cars that participate in the Sonoma competition for championships and cups.

Eddie Hill was the first Top Fuel driver in the history of Drag Racing to drive the fastest time. First Gatornational for NHRA, he drove in 5.06sec. Later in Cheifnational for IHRA, in less than 4.99sec. And then at the Supernational for the NHRA, he broke the record 4.93sec, so far. A real fast driver and a worthy NHRA Drag Racing champion, maybe not 1988, but in 1993 he finally became one

I didn't get to see it first hand, but growing up watching Bruce Larson being a journeyman racer, I was really happy for him finally having success. He'd been racing since the late 60's in the USA-1 Funnycars. Totally nice guy that never badmouthed anyone that I know of, always humble. He deserved it.

Thank you for posting this. 1988 was the first year for a summer race in Seattle. Went with my uncle, brother, cousin, and friend for all 3 days. It was a special time and so glad to see the other races from that season. Going to that race was a tradition with my uncle until his passing in 2004. RIP Blake!

In an interview on Legends The Series Jerry Eckman said that when they were finally sponsored is when they started making tremendous gains. That would seem to make sense, however their gains were in tenths of a second, if not more, and in only a few months time. Anyone with any sense knows that is simply not possible. Then after about 10 years they were caught with a nitrous bottle and he denied being a part of the decision to use that. The evidence speaks that once they got a heavy full time sponsor they felt the pressure to perform well and started to use the juice and it finally caught up to them.
People always like to hang crap on the Dodge Boys, but the fact remains that there really is no evidence outside of speculation. They were never caught with anything, even after being torn down nearly every race multiple times.
Yea, people like to say the hood frame, chassis tubing, batteries and so on, but nothing was ever found. A nos system requires hoses. You can't just jam it into the water jackets and it blow at a certain temperature. All of you Ford and GM guys need to face the facts. Only 2 people were ever caught. One being Rusty Glidden when he showed the NHRA, which speaks against Bob Glidden very hard, and Jerry Eckman.
The facts are the facts and they absolutely do not care about your feelings.
