I like that the therapist is firm with Abbie because she is treating her like the young lady she is. She knows what she is capable of and expects Abbie to exercise some emotional control. I learned the most from the teachers and bosses who held me to higher standards, even if it was painful at the time
Mariana D. I agree totally. It’s easy to let special needs children get away with things because of pity or whatever, but it’s not good. No one can get whatever they want.
I'm a relatively sensitive person myself, and I think there's a big difference between being "firm" and being "mean." I don't expect to be coddled, but I expect an adult and/or authority figure to communicate their expectations for me in a respectful and appropriate manner.
Mariana D. Oh definitely... I care for adults with developmental and physical disabilities and you HAVE to be firm with them... Otherwise they won't listen, they'll take advantage of you being to nice like a kid does, and it stalls their progress.... She's very good...
Tiffany D. I agree...Most Autism kids can’t follow directions...I have Nager Miller syndrome and I can’t reach some stuff but I can still help w chores...
I teach a medium functioning autistic kid in church. Wednesday is our bible study for the kids it’s about Joseph we will have a bible story and lots of fun activities.
shygirlnow2011 we on the spectrum have many different levels of functioning, and we can be very intelligent, and with lots of help,we can be like a 'normal' person. (I tried to not make this sound rude)
You don't sound rude at all, Brynn! Thanks for answering. Feel free to txt me anytime you want. If you want to add me on fb we can do that too. PS Don't u think the word "normal" is annoying I do. Not from you now but just in general.
I'm an ABA Therapist and seeing Abbie be able to complete tasks just reinforces why I'm in this field. Awesome job Abbie (and to Mom, Dad, Brother, & everyone else who helps too because it truly does take a village)!
Hello, I'm special education teacher from Saudi Arabia, I learn so many things from you guys, specially to understand the families situations and thoughts, thank you so very much from the bottom of my heart to sharing your amazing life and journey PS I watch all your videos before your channel became big 😁😍 And I'm sorry if my English sounds weird I'm trying my best with Google help 😅
That’s huge that she cleaned the table unprompted. Didn’t she use to knock things over? If so, how/when did that change? Also, my favorite Christmas tree decoration growing up were the bubble lights. I bet they’d be a good sensory thing to engage Abbie in decorating.
I like that Abby's therapy person doesn't let Abby get away with doing stuff. I wish that how people had worked my daughter. We adopted her when she was 9 and everyone had done everything for her. When she was put in school and all growing up people did stuff for her. My husband and I home would try and get her to do stuff and she would throw fits. I glad to see the therapist makes Abby do the lesson over and over again. Thank you for sharing
Folks, if you follow this family's vlogs, appreciate their goals, have learned from them, and want do to something to help them continue, and maybe a bit annoyed at the demonetization policies on TH-cam, then consider supporting them a little on Patreon.

"GOOD JOB!!" - super excited, proud parents Abby turns and walks away with her snack ".....screw you guys....I just wanted cereal" She's definitely a teenager lol (;
How does vlogging work when it comes to other people??? Like, do you ask people if it's ok before or after you've filmed them??? Do you ask at all??? Those community blueprints looked awesome. I wonder how long building everything would take.
I seriously love how firm you guys are, simply because Abbie is learning some major skills. When you say “Abbie learned a new word,” she is absolutely figuring it out, due to you guys really sticking to it! She is such a rockstar!
I love her new therapist! Although Abby really doesn't at times. lol She seems to be reaching goals that before had struggled with. Go Abby! I loved it when she cleaned up the table without anyone even asking her to... Shes such a smart girl!
First and foremost: your family are all doing a GREAT JOB! And your ABA Therapist is very good at believing in Abby too. Thank you for your informative video!!
I’m an in-home ABA therapist and I love my job! I found your channel a few weeks ago and really love your family. Keep being amazing and I can’t wait to see how Abbie grows and learns!
These videos are so inspiring to me. I work at a summer camp for special needs people, and it is a great place. I love watching your videos because I learn how to do my job better and make camp more fun for the campers. Love you guys and you are so great!
Abbie! I’m SO proud of you!! Priscilla, Kirkland’s is my favorite store ever! I love it! And Asa... I’m with you. I can’t stand being micromanaged. Drives me insane. Lol.
PTA Volunteering is real work. I'm preparing to host our schools Fall Festival on Thursday for my second year, and I find the most difficult part is finding volunteers. Sometimes we do need peoples' monetary contributions, but for many events we need their time much more. PTA does so much for the school. It really would be a boring place without it.
I have only been watching you beautiful Maas family for about 3 months. Every morning I say,now let's see what my little girl is doing today. So to see Abigail here compared to now, such a great difference. And Priscilla, a huge Well Done re your weight loss. You are a beautiful woman and mother. May The Lord bless you all.
Just love Abbie’s auburn hair. So like my granddaughters. Not having any knowledge of Autism before, I have learned so much from your videos. Best wishes to all your family.
Thank you so much for sharing this video of what ABA is for those who don’t know. My son has ABA therapy and has helped him so much. Abbie is so adorable and smart. She makes me smile every time I see her in your vlogs. Great job Abbie😀👍.
Thank you. I work with autistic children and I am passionate and love my job. Thank you for giving advice and perspectives that I can utilize everyday.
BIG 👍 for what you reached! And @Abbie: yes, it’s hard, school and then learning new stuff in therapy. I saw the process of having to do tasks like yours at my sister-friend’s school and at the end of the day youth 💤. I was, too after my visit and I had nothing to do. So you did a great job! Keep on going, you’re such a smart girl!”
This is such wonderful channel. I don't really know anyone with more severe autism, and I consider myself a relatively considerate person, but this channel has made me understand so much. Your love of Abby (spelling? Sorry x) and your whole family is so obvious and great. Thank you x
I saw your BI's ipad and that she was using the program Catalyst to take her data which is what the company ACES uses who I work for! I'm glad ABA is working for you, I've seen some really amazing things come out of it and love my job. It can be challenging at times but when one of my clients hits a goal they have been working on its the best thing ever!
Wow good job Abigail. Your doing so wonderful. It’s truly amazing what Abby is learning with her therapy. Thank you for sharing. What a beautiful tree and great decorating Percila.
I enjoy your videos alot. I learn so much and your energy is very welcoming. I love the patience yall display. God gave u abbie bc he knew no other parents could handle her as great as u do
I just found your channel and after watching the first video subscribed. My son is 4, and very similar to your daughter. You guys are such great parents and deal so well with the obstacles. My son was completely nonverbal until he started speech therapy. He's still mostly nonverbal, but its getting better. Such a beautiful family, thank you for letting us take a look into your lives. ❤
I love your vlogs ❤️ seeing how much Abbie has progressed and seeing all the tasks she’s capable of doing now is so amazing. I teared up watching her clean and set the table because she did it without being told to ❤️
Aww... Parking. I wonder how my car looks when I park next to the over the line car. You know it makes me look like the yucky parker when they leave!!!!! Just can't win all the time. Thanks for analyzing the de-monitization, I feel the bots don't know the difference between education and hate speak. I am glad it is not too hard on your pocket.❤✌I love you guys and your doing a great job.
Love Abbie's ABA therpiest she's calm but firm and understands that Abbie was upset so allowed her to take a short break before having to redo the task. I love how she doesn't treat her like a child, but like a young lady and She gives her lots of praise when she does something right, but lets her know when she has made a mistake and gets her to redo it again. I have no idea how anyone says this can be abusive in anyway. This is helping Abbie become more independent so she won't have to relay on her parents for everything.
WTG Abbie in all tasks. Thank you so mich for sharing her ABA sessions. We pay for our sons special school and cant do ABA also because its not covered. So I do life skills at home on Fridays with my son. Looks like I am doing pretty good. But The puzzle info was really helpful. We just started doing those larger ones like Abbie in this video.
So awesome to see Abbie being able to unhook the bra in addition to everything else! Had y’all considered a front clasping bra as opposed to a back clasping bra or did you have a specific reason for having her work with a back clasping bra? Love the videos!
My kids span 20 years, I have been PTO President but my most helpful role was PTO member/volunteer. I love being active w my children’s PTO. I wasn’t sure what to expect at my special child’s school, but it has proven to be very rewarding...actually more. I’m very upset about demonetization if Autism related content. Makes me want to cancel my Red account. 💗❤️😌 LOVE the Candyland Christmas Tree🎄
You guys are amazing you tube should be paying you double as your bringing family life & autism to light & share ups & downs to family's that's just maybe found that there child has autism & are not quite sure what to expect also none of my children have autism I just love watching you guys a tight family unit 😘
I'm a new subscriber but have been binge watching your videos for about a week now; this video just melts my heart so much, I do ABA in NM and she's doing so amazing with her therapist and everything in general! Reminds me of the leaps and bounds we can make with ABA 😊❤️
I just recently found your channel after watching SBSK and I LOVE YOUR FAMILY! I have been diagnosed with slight ASD, but I only have like a tiny bit. I've always wanted to learn more about autism and this channel helpse do that!! Thank you so much for making videos of your daily life. Love you guys!!
absolutely! I'm particularly fond of Hanes and Genie Bra. My favorite being the Genie Bra, which can be either regular pull over your head (like standard sports bra) or zip up (which zip super smoothly). Do you have any favorites?
That's crazy! I HOPE TH-cam has gotten better by now!! Sorry you had to go thru that. That is totally messed up...The therapist is stern, but looks like it's working!!! Abbie did SO GOOD with her tasks!!!
Have just found your awesome videos! You are an amazing family♡ Abby is amazing with her signs and modified signs. I am a EI consultant and work with children from birth to age 3 who are deaf or hard-of-hearing. I have worked with a few children on the spectrum and your videos are so informative. Thank you! The trees were gorgeous and PTA/PTO rocks!
I NEED MORE ABA VIDEOS LIKE THIS IN MY LIFE!! I love them! they are my absolute favorite!!! I also love when Abbie finally signed "cereal" and ya'll were so excited Abbie just grabbed her cereal and booked like "ok I've had enough, lemme eat now"
@@anascarlet I know. There was a few things in this video that broke my heart a bit. "Meltdowns" aren't "putting up a fuss." It puts me to mind of asking someone who has allergies to brush the dog... and making them redo it until they manage to supress all their sneezes! Ugh. Poor girl!
This really is well done to demonstrate ABA! I’m an aide and I also with with ABA techniques and it’s hard to describe it/demonstrate it! I have a request to add on to your ABA video(s) (I’m new to your channel): If Abbie does pairing with either you or her aide, could you do a vlog focusing on that? I don’t think many people know about it and it helps establishing a bond and associates someone/something with something preferred and consequentially helps to a degree with compliance
It's so cool to see how far she has come in a few short years. A very smart young woman. I cry when my first graders can stand in a straight line so I can only imagine how excited y'all get for her accomplishments 😹🥰
You think it's cool to force someone like Abbie into a sensory nightmare such as a supermarket, ignore her expressions of pain when she's lying on the floor because she can't handle the noise, and make her comply with being there without any accommodations or else she won't get a cookie? That's what you define as "progress"?
And here I was thinking I wasn't gonna get my fill of Fathering Autism today. Just about to go to bed but refreshed my sub page & BAMMMM!!! A 30 min plus vlog! Yipppppppeeeeeeee!
FatheringAutism Of course it was!!! 😂😂😂😂 I love watching you guys. I wish my family was like yours! Would you be interested in adopting a 36 year old & her 3 kids? LOL it would be a great time!
I don’t know if you see old vlogs new comments but.... as you know you just started teaching her Donut in the newer vlogs and seeing a comparison of how dedicated you all are teaching her new signs is amazing. Missing Mrs brandy though dumb virus hope she is well though
Wow, Abbie did really well! I'm sorry she gets so upset, she's probably not used to someone being so strict with her? But she is proud of herself when she learns something new or does something well, isn't she? I was really impressed by the table cleaning, that really does seem huge. It's amazing to follow you guys and watch her learn.
I know this isn’t about the money and all about awareness but to continue to view this particular vlog is important to me as a mother of a daughter who too struggles. There are so many things that Abbie can do that mine can’t and vice verse. To see that as a family we are not alone and how you have raised Isaiah let’s us see that we aren’t off on raising our son either. If there is ever anything we, as in a community, can do to help please let us know
Love love love this vlog. It was like a whole new perspective with things. Y'all are amazing and love seeing the growth in Abby. More 30+ Min vlogs!!!! 😁😁 Love y'all ❤️🇨🇦❤️
I like that the therapist is firm with Abbie because she is treating her like the young lady she is. She knows what she is capable of and expects Abbie to exercise some emotional control. Mariana D. I agree totally. It’s easy to let special needs children get away with things because of pity or whatever, but it’s not good. No one can get whatever they want.
It’s actually the way ABA therapists are trained. We are trained to place specific demands and give specific types of responses to each behavior.
Mariana D. I have to learn to be more firm with my patients. I have to see how the patents feel about it first.
I'm a relatively sensitive person myself, and I think there's a big difference between being "firm" and being "mean." I don't expect to be coddled, but I expect an adult and/or authority figure to communicate their expectations for me in a respectful and appropriate manner.

Im a special education major and seeing Abby put her dishes into the sink and clean the table made me tear up.. way to go Abb!
Tiffany D. I think your message. Is awesome
Tiffany D. I agree...Most Autism kids can’t follow directions...I have Nager Miller syndrome and I can’t reach some stuff but I can still help w chores...
I teach a medium functioning autistic kid I show him what to do while telling him if I just tell him he doesn’t understand he follows them if shown.
I teach a medium functioning autistic kid in church. Wednesday is our bible study for the kids it’s about Joseph we will have a bible story and lots of fun activities.
@@InTheLifeOfJeff what do you mean most autism kids that's not true I have autism
Its remarkable how well you have raised Abbie and all that she can do.

Isaiah is such a good brother to Abbie they look like they have a great connection. Y’all are fantastic parents.

I ADORE Priscilla. She is a gem and I'd like her to know that somebody appreciates her from 2000 miles away.
New subscriber,great video and content
Hello, I'm special education teacher from Saudi Arabia, I learn so many things from you guys, specially to understand the families situations and thoughts, thank you so very much from the bottom of my heart to sharing your amazing life and journey
PS I watch all your videos before your channel became big 😁😍
And I'm sorry if my English sounds weird I'm trying my best with Google help 😅
You have better English than many native speakers do :D
Pricilla : "I have 3 children, a daughter, a son and a husband"
This is true.
4...Maverick
lol oh yes i forgot Maverick.
some people have a bad view of ABA but I see Abbie's pride in her self with the tasks that she does.
You folks are amazingly patient. You inspire me 😊
That’s huge that she cleaned the table unprompted. Didn’t she use to knock things over? If so, how/when did that change?

Thank you for sharing the world of ABA! I am an ABA therapist and our work often goes unnoticed. You two are great parents and do so well with Abbie!
My son just started ABA this week. Thank you for all of these videos they help my husband and I so much!

I feel like no one gives brandy credit she has helped abbs out sm
I think every child needs to do the whole compliance thing. Its such an amazing idea. They will have to redo it if they throw a fit.
You think making children like robots is amazing?
Great job, Abbie! I loved watching her do the puzzle. :)
Love you all! Abbie’s ABA therapist is great, they work really well together.
I seriously love how firm you guys are, simply because Abbie is learning some major skills. When you say “Abbie learned a new word,” she is absolutely figuring it out, due to you guys really sticking to it! She is such a rockstar!

Dont let Asa tell you to leave Kirklands! You dont need that kinda negativity in your life!
Marianne Black Haha... Yeah but *Kirklands* can make you go broke... I want EVERYTHING, EVERYTIME I walk in there!!!!
As a parent to neurotypical teens, I find so much to learn from these vlogs about humor, patience, and love. Thanks for sharing! Love this family.

I was dying when Priscilla said "you need your drivers license removed" 😂😂😂 for real HATE parking like that! Hilarious
Great vlog Abbie’s aba therapist is really good and you can tell they have a great understanding of each other

I was so proud of Abby being able to unhook the bra she is doing great
Amazing post!! I thoroughly enjoyed watching Abbie through her therapy and her day. You guys are fantastic with your kids. What a pretty day!!
this was a wicked cool episode! It's really cool to see Abbie learn

I also love when Abbie finally signed "cereal" and ya'll were so excited Abbie just grabbed her cereal and booked like "ok I've had enough, lemme eat now"
😰 how can you enjoy watching her struggle though?... She had a meltdown.... or two...
@@anascarlet I know. There was a few things in this video that broke my heart a bit. "Meltdowns" aren't "putting up a fuss."
It puts me to mind of asking someone who has allergies to brush the dog... and making them redo it until they manage to supress all their sneezes! Ugh.
Go Maas'!! You are one very awesome family!! Just love you all!! Thank you for doing all you do!!
Big hugs!!
What a gorgeous candy christmas tree. I am amazed how involved the volunteers are!!
Lol, hope it was worth the loss of sleep.
FatheringAutism Of course it was!!! 😂😂😂😂 I love watching you guys. I wish my family was like yours! Would you be interested in adopting a 36 year old & her 3 kids? LOL it would be a great time!
ABA has helped Ashlyn so much! She receives therapy Mon-Fri for 2 hrs. She has learned new words! 💙
honestly Abby is absolutely GORGEOUS!!!!!!!! and soooooo smart
I don’t know if you see old vlogs new comments but.... as you know you just started teaching her Donut in the newer vlogs and seeing a comparison of how dedicated you all are teaching her new signs is amazing. Missing Mrs brandy though dumb virus hope she is well though
I really don’t think you could find two better parents for Abbie!
wow! this was so educational! shes blessed to have you two as parents
If there is ever anything we, as in a community, can do to help please let us know
Priscilla is inspiring. No kids for me yet but I’m definitely going to be involved like she is.
Yay! She cleaned the table AND GOT THE SUPPLIES!♥️
Love the new hair Priscilla, it looks great!
I loved seeing Abbie's interaction with her therapist. Great video!!
I can’t get over how much I love this family!!
I'm watching this way after the fact, and it's so cool to know that you do this channel full-time now. :-) It was a hope at the time of this video.
Love that Abbie picked up her sign for cereal so quick!!
Love love love this vlog. It was like a whole new perspective with things. Y'all are amazing and love seeing the growth in Abby.
More 30+ Min vlogs!!!! 😁😁
Love y'all
