the actor for the husband was also in Buffy Season 3 Episode 1 Ann. He was the guy that was luring young people into that hell dimension where they age faster.
And the sketchy agent in Firefly episode 1.
Yes he plays a similar 'type' of character in all the Whedon shows. The seemingly nice guy until the evil reveal.
The actor who played Richard (Carlos Jacott) is making his third appearance on your channel Jules, You first saw him in the pilot episode of _Firefly_ as Dobson, the fed tracking Simon and River, and then you saw him again in the season 3 premier of _Buffy the Vampire Slayer_ as Ken, the demon who sends Buffy to the hell dimension. Joss Whedon sure does like to reuse actors.
I didn't recognise him at all 🤣
That Carlos Jacott... he played two demons in the Buffyverse, one year apart. Nothin but demons! And he's was a guest star as pool guy from Seinfeld.

The surgeon who removed pieces of himself in "Angel" is also the same actor for D'Hoffryn.
Glenn Quinn and Charisma Carpenter were both 28 when Angel S1 was filmed. Cordelia was younger, but it seemed as though both Angel and Cordelia got "older" when they moved to L.A. Charisma definitely wasn't playing a 19-year old here.

It was pretty brilliant of them to have Angel move to LA - far enough from Buffy to do his own thing, but close enough to Sunnydale that they can make the trip in a few hours, so visits can be done in less than 12 hours. It's an important detail for a vampire: means you don't have to do a bad paint job on your car's windows like Spike did.
Spike's windows are pretty tragic, I admit 🤣

Buffyverse Angelverse has some of the best kicked down doors, walls, glass I've ever seen in a series there still more to come your haven't seen yet I should do a montage of them all 😆 🚪

Regarding Cordelia always saying what's on her mind, remember this exchange from BtVS 2x18, Killed By Death:
Giles: "Cordelia, have you actually ever heard of tact?"
Cordelia: "Tact is just not saying true stuff. I'll pass."
And "Earshot", where she says exactly what Buffy reads in her thoughts.
While true, she can be a bit self-involved. Take season 2, episode 18, “Killed by Death”. Buffy’s sick in hospital and the gang visits. Everyone has a gift for her, save Cordelia, who claims no one told her to bring one. Giles responds, “It’s traditional among, uh . . . people.” One of my all-time favorite lines from Giles.
Yeah, I talked about Cordelia's honesty and saying what's on her mind in the outro 😊 It's actually one of the things I have come to love about her! Also Killed By Death is another great episode of that, I only mentioned Earshot as it was the first one that came to mind!
"I think it, I say it. It's kind of my way."
What makes that line really work, is that they established that this IS her way back in Earshot.
Out of Angel's early episodes, this is one of the ones that sticks in my memory the most. It's a fun episode and we get a lot of insight into Doyle's past. He's often played as a bit of a comic relief character, so it's nice to get a more serious look at him.
Then of course, it also sets up another nice little Buffy crossover. They really do a great job of maintaining a consistent shared universe between the two shows.
Here's to imminent crossover shenanigans whether they be in Buffy or Angel.
Always good to get a little more background story on Doyle. Definitely one of the funnier episodes of the season!
It also leaves one wondering where things stand now between Cordelia and Doyle.

I love Doyle, too!! He's a sweetheart and it was SO exciting to see Cordy come so close to finding out his secret 😱
So this was the start of a crossover. Joss, while not a fan of crossovers, wanted to make sure if Angel's show didn't work, David and Charisma's characters would still have a home to return, which is why it seems there are so many moments tying the series together. And if you think about it, real life can work that way to. Having a foot in high school despite being in college until you get used to college, or when you move, ect. on all kinds of situations.
Angel: What’s going on?
Cordelia (fake casual): Angel! Come meet Doyle’s wife.
Angel (absolutely zero reaction): Nice to meet you.

I don't think they ever establish how old Doyle is, but we do know that he and Harry have been separated for 4 years. That the separation happened sometime after his demon self-expressed itself, and that was when he turned 21. So, at the youngest, he would be 25, but probably older because, they didn't separate immediately. Harry mentioned to Cordy that she tried to make it work for a bit before she had to leave because of how Doyle reacted to being half-demon. I'd probably peg him at 28-29 at the youngest, but we really don't know how long Harry stuck around to try and make it work.
It is very common for shows to remain vague on character ages so they don't have to deal with age-gap issues. The guy Cordy went on that date within this episode, was at least as old as Doyle, if not older, and the age gap isn't brought up there either. Although we do see Angel act as a father to Cordy and her date in that scene 😁 Which was fun to see. Cordy tends to play older in Angel than she did in Buffy. Partly because there was no getting around her being a high schooler in Buffy. But in Angel, since the themes are a bit more adult in nature, they sort of pretend that she is older than 18, even though no noticeable time has passed between Buffy and Angel. Cordy, in Angel, really comes off as more, early 20's than fresh out of high school, thematically.
side note, I keep typing "Anger" and have to correct it when I try to type "Angel."
I just got finished watching today's episode and really liked how they were mentioning Buffy was great maybe there will be a crossover but I also like how Doyle or Francis has feelings for Cordelia as well as hearing of Doyle's past and it was a really very hilarious episode and i can't wait for the next episode Thank You my friend Juliette.🇦🇺🎄🎀🎄🇦🇺

This episode was so fun, especially since you thought the first vision was going to be about Buffy! As for Cordelia, I think she is honest to the point of being insensitive. Since, to her, she is the most important person in any room (and that has changed a little over the course of this show) then she thinks that people want to hear what she has to say. This episode marks another change in the way Cordelia's character is growing. She now "sees" Doyle, except when he's in demon form, in which case she "aims" for Doyle! Lots of fun! I like these episodes where you get to laugh a little! And where there is a crossover with Buffy!

Harry mentioned that it'd been four years (unclear if it was since the marriage or the divorce). Doyle was married at 19 and divorced some time (it's implied not that long) after turning 21, so I'd put his current age at somewhere between 23 and 27, depending on what Harry's "four years" comment was referencing and allowing for the possibility that it took a year or more for the marriage to fall apart.
You really can't use the age of the actors to judge the characters in this franchise.
Long ago I lost the ability to judge the ages of anyone on TV or in movies. Too many shows with actors in their twenties playing high school students and actors in their thirties playing parents with adult children. I just can't tell anymore.
Glenn Quinn was born in 1970, so he was 29 when this was done.

Even with a bit more looks into Doyle, and Cordelia, The ending of this one made me think of the first 40 some minutes as filler on the trail to the main attraction... Still an entertaining episode, and who doesn't like a grand entrance? Angel - BANG, "Party's over!"😝
Poor Cordelia - She is pretty impulsive, and driven by current needs. Right now, she wants a handsome rich guy, which, given her recent history with a broke family, she has money on her mind. And she seems to have gravitated to someone, possibly very similar to her father... well off, interested in money, and how good he is at making it... boring in other words. She has some hidden depth to her, but is foremost a very black & white person. She doesn't often entertain any grey areas. Thus enabling herself to regularly make snap judgments/decisions because issues are always this, or that (most of the time).
Unfortunately, this guy wants someone who will listen to his 'fascination' with himself, and will look great to others, thus adding to his fortune, in the eyes of colleagues.🙄
Doyle; Poor Doyle. He still loves his wife, but cannot get over his self blame for their separation, which appears to have been a simple overthinking on his part. Constantly thinking it was going to go bad, because of his demonics, and thus making it so, at least in his mind. So yeah he was jealous because he still loved his wife as much as ever, but has been held back by his own lack of confidence in himself. Deciding for her, what was best, and blaming her for the break to bolster himself to himself.
Not your favorite episode, but by golly, did you ever display your total immersion in the tale, at 15:24, and 17:04, giving some righteous indignation because "... he didn't Explain!! ..." These two moments were a viewing bonus, to me, on top of the many laughing bits you had, throughout.🤣
You consistently fight for your characters, Jules! 😂
And Cordelia! jumps in, bashing a demon, and moments later - "Oh Doyle, look what they did to you!" - no nuances/grey areas for our Cordelia.😜
And she had the most memorable dialogue bit here, as you point out in your summation, "I think it, I say it" which actually shows a goodly amount of self understanding, on her part. She knows exactly how she is, and is at peace with it.
I go through your comments, here, there, everywhere I see them, and whisper "man, it's good she gets ahead... ".The random things which drop, on the path to providing a bigger picture, or fun facts... relentless as a hot humid day.🤫

1. As for Cordelia, she just has no filter, after all in one episode Xander said something about his reputation, if people found out he was dating a "brain", so there is a decent amount of intelligence in Cordelia.
2. Aside from my baby niece, you are currently my favourite singular person to hang out with (specific "singular", because there are two couples that I like to watch about as equally), but maybe that changes, if I make friends at my new workplace (starting on Wednesday), so wish me luck.

@@julesreacts Thanks, my niece is the main reason I visit my brothers family for Christmas, seconded by my nephew, who said, he loves that I am so soft (referring to my extra weight, lol), while crawling on my back. My niece just smiles at me, waves and tries to touch my forehead or grab my finger. Just like a dog, she is still in the stage, where you will be still judged by her, based on your actions and how you interact with her.
I agree with you that Cordielia is at heart an honest person, at least with everyone but herself anyway, she learned from Xander to look beyond the surface, but still tries to hold on to the belief that she needs a shallow, rich stock broker to be happy. her real problem is she lets the expectation of her life interfere with her living it, but developments will ensue I'm sure! love your reaction as always, and I look forward to the next!

The ducklings were really grossed out by the brain eating bit. So, of course the alpacas had to teases them. They are planning to make the ducklings watch Return of the Living Dead, where zombies say brains comes from, and other movies like that. You know how older siblings can be.
