Kari, I really felt bad about you not being allowed inside the temples. Now, let me tell you the reason why this happens in most temples in Odisha. There were lot of foreign invasions on these temples in the past due to which even Lord Jagganath was to be hidden in many places inside Odisha. Also, there were many instances where the Kalinga temples were destroyed in past - the best example is the famous Konark sun temple. So, rules were created to prohibit the entry of foreigners inside the temple. No worries Kari, you can always get a chance to see Lord Jagganath during the famous Rath yatra in the month of June-July. I assure you that, this would be your best experience ever. May God bless you and Debojyoti.

And they still are vulnerable. These temples are still vulnerable from the piece-full community of the entire world. To be able to do Darshan of Bhagwan Jagannath, yatra is the best place. Only native Indians are allowed. Even India's erstwhile Prime Minister was not allowed as she married outside of religion. She and many others might have the purest reasons to visit, but there are people who want to just desecrate the temple of immense faith for us Hindus. The temple keepers can't make distinction between people like her and piece-fulls in such a large crowded place. No such verification is practically possible too.

Odia language is really beautiful whenever i visited his home and hear it,It was like a melody to my ears. I was surprised to hear so many sanskrit words that are used as it is in odia language. I had also eaten several time in his home and till now i haven't eaten more tasty daal and aloo bharta in my life. 😋😋😋 🤤🤤🤤 They used to eat only rice through out the day and no roti at all. Opinion-Well every religion maintains some set of rules and guidelines to protect their religious values ,it's regretful what u had to face but at the same time one must respect those rules for the time being till there be some change by collective efforts without undermining any religion.
One should not seek force change of rules in the name of democracy and freedom both are different.
Especially Indian form of democracy is different from western democracy here religion plays an important role and has deep roots in our system.

The temple was attacked more than 17 times in the past where thousands of devotees fought with enemies in the temple courtyard, lost their lives, the deities were hidden in different caves in bengal ghats.

I don't know the truth but I asked a small subsequent question so by not allowing foreigners today are you trying to protect the temple from getting it demolished or being plundered.? He had no answer he got frustrated and angrily replied it our custom and we will not compromise. Actually they had prohibited foreigner devotees of ISKON infront of me i was able to see pain of those devotees and they best thing those devotees did was they said JAI Jagannath and returned without much argument, in my mind I thought Jagannath you should stop this injustice, I felt very sorry for those devotees.

History taught us a lot, one of richest state of its time now suffering with poverty because we trusted foreigners ,there are many waiting to destroy it's sanctum,
Mrs Karry u come in Rathayatra ,I appreciate your faith ,
There are hidden missionaries with legal teeth to bite

      @@freespeech6067 absolutely correct,
Those who want to protect their years & years old architectural scientific heritage, they should not get distracted/compromised by any kind of soft corners.
If Darshan is the question then for that ratha yatra visit is the solution already available.
Those who've experienced #TRUE_ETERNAL_LOVE , they can easily connect with this and a true devotee of Lord Krishna always happily accept those restrictions because he/she will have this realization that their beloved lord's sacred place is being protected from threats.

But Muslims did this time and again..and this is nothing but 1000 years of conditioning that makes so repulsive towards anyone who doesn't resemble to be a hindu.
ISKCON devotees should be allowed, they are more Hindu than the indigenous people.
I know a few Bengalis (Liberandus beef eaters) enter into the temple as they resemble to be a Hindu.

See i won't sugar coat the fact that the strick POLICY of no foreigners or non Hindu (i guess) are allowed inside the temple is kind of self good . See it doesn't mean offence to you , but that's a spiritual place where traditions and cultures are being kept alive . Odisha is a lesser known state , but with rich heritage and culture which we are proud of . I think your lovely husband might have explained you that this temple was looted and exploited very early on like konark and few other temples in the past . Konark was absolutely destroyed during British raj , so Shri Jagannath temple is one of the most religious place , being a part of the 4 dhamas of Hinduism in india . So is the lingaraj temple . So i hope you understand it's not exactly a tourist cum religious spot like for instance GOLDEN TEMPLE , but i also agree we now modern people understand that you are pure and true at heart , mean no harm to our ethnic and ancestorial culture and are truly on path on becoming indian by spirit and mind whilst respecting , following and preaching/ teaching it's value to others . It will take some time to make changes but till then remember those who believe or not , seen or not , hindu or not Shri Jagannath, balabhadra and subhadra are always blessings you all. Wait till annual Rath Yatra to be given a free chance of seeing the almighty God.

There's a story i don't if you have known or heard of that there was a foreign or non Hindu ( i don't exactly remember) devote of lord Jagannath , who's only wish was to see the almighty through his eyes. But he was denied access or entry due to the above mentioned fact . He was so commited that he announced that this is his only dream and he will built the whole of temple , even the throne of lord Jagannath in pure gold , gems and diamonds if he's given the permission to see him. Later i guess a built a copy of shree jagannath was built where he allowed everyone to visit and not to be unfortunate like him to die without fulfilling his life wish .

Nice video. Visited many times this area. It is litle sad to see your lovely wife not being allowed inside temple I personally feel it should not be there but we should honor traditions culture values, trust and custom which is its beauty. Every thing can not be decided by court and law. It is more or less prevails in almost all religions/ faith.
Forget about foreigners, being an Indian while visiting South temples such as padmnabh swami, guruvayur etc, we have to follow their custom, dress, timing etc and we do follow too. Hence it should be taken in that spirit only.
BUT MORE IMPORTANT IS TO STOP PANDARAJ AND THEIR LOOT IN AND AROUND TEMPLE AT JAGNATH. THEY ARE COMPELLING TO DONATE MONEY.
DEVOTEES SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO HAVE DARSHAN FREELY ANF IF THEY WANT ANY PUJA THEN ONLY PANDA SHOULD ASSIST ANC COME INTO PICTURE.

Chalo koi nai. God has never objected to visit him and take blessing ya but people did so. No problem lets hope some or the other day you will be allowed.
Kari as per Hindu rituals and our vedas purans and geeta. They have said by some or the other reason you don't get opportunity to visit temple or blessing you can stand in your house or place bring gods place or his picture in front your eyes and touch TULSI Maa your will get blessings. What i think why foreigners and other Non-Hindus are not allowed in some other Hindu temples as well is because cow is really sacred for us and non-Hindus eat beef. So Maybe that's why. Although I'm not sure. And it's not just practiced in Hindu temples. In Mecca also non-muslims are not allowed to visit.

I am really happy that our culture and our philosophy is followed all over the world. I can understand that it feels really heartbreaking that foreigners and non-Hindus are not allowed. But if you go history ,people from all over the world used to visit the temples and they were allowed. But when the Islamic invasion happened they first tried to loot the temples as they were filled with gold and the Christians invaded as Britishers and they also tried to loot the temples and also they broke the temples and took the pieces of precious artifacts to sell them in outside. Thats why the rule was made that non-hindus and foreigners are not allowed and it stays right now also as they are several attempts made to hit sanctity of temples. But anyways we know God is in us. Even we also just Vow down infront temple and worship is complete . Welcome to Odisha. Ama Odia ghara Bahu. Jay Jagannath.

Reason is..... becz of past History of invasion on these prominent temples... (Only indian Hindus ..bodhs sikhs and Jain's r allowed)
Priests belief ..that temple is place of faith and not a place for Tourism
But ..Now they should change the rules
Even the queen of Thailand was not allowed in Jagannath temple
..Even indian P.M Indira Gandhi was not allowed to enter in 1984

    • @NamastefromUSA
      @NamastefromUSA  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

That’s the thing we were there for faith, not tourism. No one can tell by looking at me what my religion is. I am Hindu and it’s heartbreaking. Again, we understand why the rules exist, but it’s time to reevaluate and find a better way to handle the security of the temples.
