Amazing amp! I bought an E570 preamp right before they were discontinued 3 years ago, and it's awesome! Glad to see this amp come back, and i hope the preamp version will also get reborn again!
Crushing as always. John, your mixes are always so damn killer. Excellent. Sometime in the future you should totally do another video explaining your process on the signal chains and tips for drums.
Now that's what I want to hear from this amp!!!! I've seen some of the other reviews and they didn't do it justice. The tones you got out of this thing are impeccable. A modern classic amp in the making...in your hands. Awesome!

Tbh a bit surprised they would release another full sized amp. Especially as the world is moving more towards digital, or at the very least smaller lunch box amps, it's a bit surprising. That said it sounds brutal and super awesome. I think however as I age, I'm looking towards more simple single/dual channel amps with easier controls. And rather have multiple amps rather than have few amps that does EVERYTHING. I'm regretting the Savage 120 MK2 that I bought a while back. Sounds great, but just a bit too complicated. Everyone's different of course :) Anyway, great demo nontheless, as always! Glad you were included by ENGL to receive it!
I'm very glad that they're still releasing amps like this! It may look daunting at first glance but within minutes of using it you'll realise how easy it is to get great tones out of it!

This is definitely a lot cooler than my old Engl Invader, and with all these additional functions it would really be the king of my Engl-collection. Sadly it's a bit too expensive to buy it right away.
I have the original version; it was the first tube amp head that I ever owned. I have gotten a bunch of amps since then, but none of them have been as good sounding to my ears as the Special Edition. I might as well have just bought a bunch of those lol.

Hey man. Not directly related to this video, but I recently watched your video on how to load OwnHammer IRs on Wall of Sound. I recently purchased a torpedo captor and want to do this. I noticed that they are .wav files in your video. But when I go on to the OwnHammer website, under the Fractal section where the cab packs are, it says the files are .IR or .syx. I want to purchase the Recto412 pack that you've recommended or the Heavy Hitters Vol. 1. Will these still be compatible with Wall of Sound? HAHAHA But just like him I'd say.. damn kids don't know what a point to point circuit is.. hahaha That extra "5th" channel is the best damn thing on these amps!! The difference in the 2 options is the "eq" controls on the back. Don't you damn kids recognize a Marshall Plexi when you see it?? (oh ya you were still swimmers up in your dads sack when plexi's made it all possible for R&R) HAHAHA One option is no eq so it is as direct as a tube amp gets, a lot like a guitar with just one volume pot.. shorter more direct signal chain = purer sound!! So when you do the follow up video for that magical 5th channel hook it up to some lower watt speakers and push em! (and just like a plexi once the volume is loud enough for natural speaker breakup everything beyond that is saturation)(also FYI to fully utilize that plexi sound use a passive single coil, my preference would be a p90, can you say Leslie West?) Personally I hear it as a well refined plexi sound, And why wouldn't it be it's German! Anyway cheers and I hope you find this helpful.
