Woodworking Workbench Top - Part 1

With all the hype of building cutting boards, I thought why not make my workbench top in the same way as you would build a cutting board. Okay, I will actually give you the honest truth. Initially I thought of making my workbench top completely out of maple that I picked up a ton of this summer. When I finished joining and planing and ripping all of the maple strips, I was coming up short on the depth of the workbench. Rather than buying more and having to wait for another day, I had the idea of just using up some hardwood lumber in the corner of my shop I had been saving for years (probably 10 years!!!). I thought what project would be better use for this than my workbench top that I will use every single day. So that is how we arrived at using a multitude of color and wood species to make a workbench top. Enjoy!
