You need to learn the purpose of an expression pedal. It doesn't have a sound - it controls other devices. The only thing anyone cares about is the build quality and how smooth the pot and pedal action are. He covered it perfectly and thankfully saved me from buying this piece of rubbish. Excellent video.
I've been using mine since 2020 now. I removed the rubber feet so it can sit a little cleaner on my board. So far mine's been behaving mostly fantastic. I use it VERY frequently and rest my foot on it often when seated, but I'm never standing on it or stomping down even if I'm doing wild octave shifter stuff. The gears inside, somehow, have survived all this time. For a while it developed a more stepped feel, like a stack pot jazz bass would have with the little click washers left in, but that went away so I assume it was dust or such thing stuck in the works. I'm honestly kind of hopeful for the day it finally dies and I can do a teardown and see about replacing the gears and making it a DOD Expression Mini Super or something lol. I find the throw on this pedal to be way nicer and in a smaller footprint than the Dunlop Mini and the AMT that I tried was just awful feeling in almost every way but it was also heavily abused, so I can discount them that. The Dunlop's entire expression amount feels minimal underfoot by comparison. With the Dunlop I want to put my foot flat on top (what a drummer would call heel-down) but on the DOD I use it more (heel up) with the ball of my foot, but there's more distance to throw it so I feel more expressive with it.
Wow, what a great demo - not even going to try using it, huh? Assuming my neighbourdhood store has one that hits the bump and doesn't rattle, I'd have sure appreciated knowing how the sweep on the pedal is, whether it introduces noise into the chain etc. Congrats on putting a similar level of effort into this video to DOD, I guess
@@ryanhogle571 Have you even bothered to search youtube for this pedal?! There's definitely not 12 videos about it and yours was the only one I could find when I saw it pop up in my neighbourhood store. The low effort continues, I guess.
@@ryanhogle571 Aww, sweet! Will they teach you how to make a pedal video too? I guess you'd have to want to improve or put some effort in, but don't be scared!

Absolutely loving my Dunlop Volume X mini. I went through multiple mini expression controllers before I settled with it. Its pricey but worth it compared to what others offer. I didnt do a review of mini volume X by Dunlop because youtube already had a lot of pros making videos to showcase it.
Foam would be unnecessary and just would harm the environment and by extension ourselves. Also I have to say that on the website at least to me the grip did not look inlaid.
@@krekcabnow2910 I am much happier with the Dunlop mini. Very similar but a but more sturdy. Both great pedals, but the price does reflect the quality.
You already said that in a separate comment buddy. It could be bubble wrap, paper, extra cardboard or the skin of a child. Doesn't matter. I expect a product to be protected in its retail box. The packaging plays no roll in the pedal itself and was not a selling or breaking point for me but worth a mention. The DOD mini just didn't make the cut as bad as I wanted it to. It would be a good bedroom pedal. It is not stage-ready or worthy due to the craftsmanship and design flaws within the plastic gear system.
I did use it. It worked like every other volume pedal. Build quality was poor, i returned it based off of physical quality not usability. Its a good pedal, with a cool design, made poorly. Maybe quality has or will improve. My goal was to show what the big box youtubers with endorsements wont show you.
A pedal review without actually playing through the pedal... Brilliant.
you don't play THROUGH it, it just controls other devices. Maybe that's why?

Thanks, almost ordered this with a new mini board. Would have been super bummed.
Thanks for a review. Do u have any good mini exp pedal recommendations?

Thanks for the honest review.

There are about 12 other videos on youtube demonstrating the usage of this pedal. I showcased what they did not.

Aw, poor guy. Cheer up soon. One day, someome will teach you how to use a pedal. I promise!!!

great review - cheers!
It _was_ helpful, thank you!
I actually like how you scrutinized the build rather than looking at the sound. Good review.

So many clueless posers on here, lol
great video. After watching this I decided to buy the sonicake on amazon lol for $40
Really appreciate the unbiased honesty here. Have you found any small expression pedals that you would recommend?

Great , thanks. Now i know what not to buy

However I will be looking into the Dunlop

Foam would just be extra trash dragging us to extinction.

How do you do a gear review and never plug it in and see how well it does or doesn’t function at its intended purpose?
Dude didn’t even use the damn thing

Pot value would have been useful too, and the configuration switch function, rather than just a description of the gaps!!!
This is trash, an FC7 is all you need.
