    That upside down resourcing is gonna come in handy when smuggle appears!

    as someone to TCGs and playing at my local, this is very helpful!!
    my local is great, but i dont always know how to "behave" with proper decorum.
    knowing what might be expected at higher levels is super helpful

    Great stuff. I would love for you to have talked about the initiative token and end of turn sequence. I went to a large event recently and was flabbergasted at how few people use the taken side of initiative token and are sloppy with the order of draw, resource, and ready.

    • @savagedragn

      I was trying to flip the initiative token with my opponents and they kept “correcting” it for me 😂. I just let it happen…

    Level 0 table mechanics:
    Deck box: Rubber band around cards
    Tokens: whatever change you have in your pocket, random scraps paper, etc.
    Shuffling: whatever doesn't get you DQ'd for cheating
    Strategy: let's f'in GOOOOOOOOOO!

    I like the Sentinel in the front row, because I'm just as likely to make a mistake and forget I have a sentinel and let my opponent attack my base.

  • @brandonjohnson9876

    The quick start rules say to put sentinel units slightly ahead of other units to remind players they have to be attacked first…but the comprehensive rules don’t say that. I’m guessing that means it’s not a rule requirement, just a courtesy?

  • @owlxoggest6247

    Seriously though one thing I would recommend for you not rotating your deck and be careful with your draws when pulling them close to your resource row. If you get a certain type of opponent, they could try to angle shoot you and say that you added an extra resource or picked a card up from your resource row....
    I wouldn't expect that from the SWU community, but if the game catches fire and tourneys start getting bigger, it will eventually attract that certain type of player

    • @SWU_KTOD

      I actually don't pull them that close to the resource row but did for camera positions and stuff but good call I should have specifically mentioned it

  • @DreWooo

    Actually liked this video alot.
    Does it say anywhere in official rules that damage on base has to be displayed via token or dial. At my recent 1k people were taking notes which I'm fine with but I had to constantly ask what base damage was.

    • @SWU_KTOD

      It does say damage on base. And I do both.

    You are flashing the cards you resource to your opponent, you can put it upside down but spinning it kinda torward yourself

    • @SWU_KTOD

      I know I don't know why I did it like that in the video. I see myself start to do the grip I normally do and then Swap it. Maybe bc the camera was on? I'm not sure

  • @RoelvanderHoorn

    If you resource like this, you’re actually showing your opponent the cards you resource, because you rotate them towards your opponent.
    You can resource “upside down” without showing your opponent. No reason to fully rotate them.

    • @SWU_KTOD

      Yeah I mentioned it in a previous comment, I don't know why I flip them like this in the video that's not how I do it IRL, probably letting the camera affect me. My bad

  • @dfreshv

    Whoa, extra cards in your deck box is a DQ? I guess it makes sense if they’re mixing the cards together or being shady about it, I just never thought about it. Are there any other common tournament rules mistakes that you see people making, that could potentially cost them games without them even realizing?

    • @SWU_KTOD

      I tried to cover everything that fits into that category in this video but if I think of any others I'll post. If I didn't mention it specifically drawing extra cards can be immediate DQ in some games

    Use your list to make sure you’re properly unsideborded after each match and do a sanity check at the start of each new match.
    I’ve seen a lot of people flash their resources at me as they use them. Make sure you’re not showing your opponent which cards you resourced.
    If you win, allow your opponent to offer the handshake. They may be feeling bad. If they seem in a good mood, try to have some conversation with them about the match. Maybe talk about side boarding. Make new friends!

    • @SWU_KTOD

      I've had to adapt my end of match comment to "nice to play with you" because people get salty at good game sometimes

      Yeah…I can’t remember the last time I lost and didn’t want to talk to my opponent to try and figure out where I messed up. It’s a mind state.

    Can you tell someone they can only cut not shuffle Your cards ?

    • @jawaking00

      Not typically. You're usually allowed by tournament regulations to shuffle your opponent's deck. You can of course request that they are gentle with it.

    Not that it will matter a whole bunch but the official rules say that after sideboarding you have to show your opponent that you have 10 or less cards in your sideboard. Don’t want to see you get DQ’d off some trash like that😂
