Roland JX-3P short demo and key contact cleaning

I bought a JX-3P that had 4 keys that would not play, indicating dirty key contacts. In this video, I show how to get inside the keybed and clean the contacts. Also play a couple of really nice custom patches on this beautiful vintage analog synth.

FYI for the next person looking up your video... The AKAI AX-80 Uses the a similar contact type, with only 1 contact per key. The AX-80 doesn't have aftertouch, so only needs the one. Although, it has a contact ring which is how I believe it calculates velocity.

I did my wk110 and managed to make it worse. all my contacts are black and the qtip and alcohol are not working, I also bought sone paste for the rubber thats supposed to refresh them. I am really frustrated.

with contacts that black it sounds like really horrible storage over the years, and really bad oxidation, cleaning might not do anything you might have to replace or get a new one. but last ditch, id clean the shit out of them endlessly hoping to get them silver again

ive seen people use a pencil and rub the contacts with graphite and fix it. I wonder which method is the best.

there is a chemical/paint called Remote Restore (for remote controls) it works great I have used it
