wow 10/10 on the insane quality and tons of information. I dread thinking how long this took to make! Its clear to see you put alot of effort into this one. I learned stuff I had no idea about and that surprised me. I have watched all other high quality vanilla priest guides on yt but this one was the best I've seen so far.
The bit at the end was very insightful. I feel like because I have been playing with 60's running BRD, Strat, Scholo when I was lvl 49-52 and up, I got used to spamming flash heal as I couldn't heal fast enough with what little power I had when I was spec'd as a Shadow Priest for solo lvling. Great insight!
Already replied on the long post below with the corrections, separate post for pre-bis gear. Head: right, although depends on the version. 55 +heal Green Lens are better. Neck: right. Shoulders: depends on the version. Early on Magister's shoulders had the same stats as Soulstealer Mantle from Baron Rivendare, in this case both of those are BiS (22int 9spi). In later versions however Magister's was changed to have 22int 6spi, making Soulstealer's BiS. Back: right if it's 1.1 or 1.2. If it's 1.3 or later you have Hide of the Wild available, which is BiS until BWL. Chest: right. Wrist: Wyrmthalak's Shackles (9int 15spi), a quest reward from LBRS portion of Ony quest chain, is better. Also +24 healing enchant is not available before 1.6. Belt: right if it's before 1.3. After Whipvine Cord (DME last boss) is better. Legs: right if it's before 1.3. After Padre's Trousers are better. Boots: No. Dragonrider Boots (Rend) before 1.3, Boots of the Full Moon (Kromcrush, DMN). Rings: Seal of Rivendare's (Baron Rivendare, Strat UD) stats are better than Maiden's Circle stats before 1.5 (7int 5spi 9spell). After 1.3 you have Emerald Flame Ring. Trinkets: right if it's pre 1.3. Weapon: right. Offhand: Spirit of Aquementas (quest reward from Linken's chain in Un'goro) reduced manacost of all spells by 25. No contention. After 1.3 you have Brightly Glowing Stone (King Gordok, DMN/DMT) Wand: that wand is not added until Patch 1.10. Before that you have green +healing wands, Bonecreeper Stylus (Darkmaster Gandling, Scholo) or Mana Channeling Wand (the Observer, DMN) after 1.3
Same. I recently played through Warcraft 1 and 2. I'm looking at the WC3 reforged release date, which is roughly an eternity away. And I'm looking at the WoW classic release, which isn't an eternity away though feels like it.
The quality of your videos has gone a long way since you first started on TH-cam. This video really shows it and I can't wait until we can access Classic because I know your going to have so much fun making the videos you've wanted to make but haven't been able to Thanks for the guide and I can't wait for the next one.
A suggestion, if I may! When you show the suggested BiS list, it'd be really cool if you could include a character model wearing all those items. It'd be cool to see how each class looks wearing full pre-raid BiS
I knew we had to use different ranks of spells to perform properly but holy hell.. This really made me doubt wanting to be a healer, lol. Great vid, also terrifying.
I love when he talks about specs, he doesn't even explain his reasoning as to why PI is only for content that is on farm. He just says, 'you need a more healing intensive build for progression' and quickly moves on to a new topic. For a guide that advocates all priests running engineering, this is really quite bizarre. Any guild requiring/enforcing that of their healers will have zero problems if all the priests go PI. The deep holy talents are a luxury that can be skipped especially for how big of a joke MC is. The reason I have never watched any of this guy's content is because all he's doing is regurgitating material from the most common sources of vanilla knowledge on the internet. I have read every guide that Tips used to make this video, its so obvious that he did no research on his own. People in Classic will play in old-fashioned ways because the same memes have been circulating for the past 5-10 years. I don't know what I was expecting from Tips' priest guide, I guess maybe something with a modicum of original thought, looks like that bar is already too high for youtube content.
David Ricart I have heard him say some pretty questionable things for somebody that supposedly knows what they are talking about. I am by no means a top tier player and even I question a lot of what he says. He does have knowledgeable people on his deep dives though and they seem like his only content worth watching.
Maybe it has been commented already. For a priest, it is very important to know how the mana regeneration works based on spirit (aka 5 secs rule). Depending on the encounter and spells to be casted frequently, you would like to have spirit gear instead of healing (or viceversa). Another important fact for the priest, Inner Focus does not break the 5 secs rule, so you can continue regenerating mana from your spirit. Potions of mana for an undergeared priest are very usefull too (they can be used every 2 min I recall?). Sagefish delight gives you 6 mp5 as well :P.
Just a couple of corrections: 1. Racials do matter, especially on Alliance. If you dont go Dwarf to get Fear Ward then you are basically giving up the most useful spell in the game for raiding. 2. Spiritual Guidance and The Human Spirit doesnt synergize well, with full BiS gear ath the end of vanilla, all consumes and all world buffs you will gain +6 healing. The Human Spirit doesnt even synergize that well with Meditation and 3 set T2 bonus, which is the more prominent and useful benefit of the racial. 3. Choosing tailoring as a profession, when Truthfaith is relevant, is a huge gold drain and only provides a minor benefit compared to its only relevant counterpart, Robe of the Exalted. Its way more efficient to go Alchemy and Herbalism at the start and swap one of the two for Engineering when AQ hits. 4. Truthfaith Vestments is not BiS until AQ. It is only BiS until you get the T2 chest +2 more T2 pieces and 2 set from ZG. You wont even replace the T2 chest piece with Robes of the Guardian Saint. 5. The importance of getting the Blodvine set is not crit. Its the hit you want to be able to Mind Control. Which in turn means you really dont need Tailoring at all since the only benefit is 2 crit which you wont be able to use since you are using Mind Control. 6. The talents are decent but you definitely dont want to sacrifice 1 point in Holy Specialization for a extra point in Improved Renew. The percent bonus of Improved Renew is only applied to the base amount of the spell so it pretty minimal. 7. 1 point in Martyrdom? Really? If something hits you in a raid and on top of that crits you... then you are dead. 8. The stat priority is correct but you fail to mention why spirit is so strong, its because of Meditation and T2 set bonus not because of Spiritual Guidance. I know you said mana regeneration but you should explain the main benefit and where it comes from. 9. Warchief's Blessing is not Horde exclusive. You can get it as an Alliance player. 10. Shadow, fire, nature and arcane protection potions? 11. In AQ 40 Rank 4 Heal is your main heal not Greater Heal Rank 1 and when its on farm then Flash Heal is your main spell. 12. A priest never "Burst Heals" its a 2.5 sec cast and the tank will be dead in your scenario. 13. Flash Heal Rank 4 is not used in emergency situations... its an emergency spam max rank Flash Heal. 14. Renew is very efficient way before +850 healing. 15. Prayer of Healing is only used in combination with Inner Focus or on short fights with predictable damage. 16. You never use Holy Nova in raiding and also none of your talent builds included it. 17. Power Word Shield is very useful to boost caster dps when constant damage is applied to the raid.
We actually used holy nova on Vaelastrasz in BWL with great success back in the day. But that is the only instance I can remember it being used. Don't know if its up to date with current tactics for the boss, since I've never raided on a private server. Great post!
4. It's not BiS until AQ but it's still worth it initially. It's considerably better than Robes of the Exalted, especially for dungeons. 9. Only on private servers. 11. He's correct, by the time you're doing AQ40 you're likely to have full T2 and ZG class trinket, which means that you're stuck with GH1, being the lowest possible spell rank that benefits from both. If you dont you're using Heal 2.
Agreeing with everything here. - I could never understand why people roll a profession for just one piece of gear, considering the amount of gold and time they're going to sink in it, unless that piece of gear is absolute BiS and is BoP, which is simply not the case here. Even in other cases - let's say warlock - you're better off buying Robes of Winter Night and later on the Bloodvine set and using engineering instead of going tailoring for a dumb Robe of the Void (which is almost the same as Robe of Winter Night but requires 3x the mats) and the ability to "craft your own gear". I'd much rather have the ability to make money so that I can buy my own gear, especially in case crafted gear usually sells for less than its combined mats price on the AH. You have to understand that, apart from resistance gear and some specific items, a gear-crafting profession is not going to make you money... For example, Lionheart Helm (the warrior BiS helm) currently sells for ~400g on Light's Hope's Northdale. Meanwhile, its mats cost is at ~600g. The Devilsaur set sells for a *combined* profit of around 50g from its mats cost. - People who advocate for The Human Spirit are #1 bad at math or #2 ignorantly trying to defend their poor race choice - there are no other options. Night elves are the weakest priest choice in the game and humans are meh - this leaves you with the best and only other choice: dwarf. Play what you want, yes, but don't try to defend your RP choice with bad numbers and situational scenarios. Just say "I don't want to minmax and I like night elves". Also, don't get mad when they replace you with a dwarf priest for specific fights. And yes, I know I sound like an elitist, minmaxing jerk right now, but if you don't want that and just want to enjoy the game, then what are you doing watching a 15-minute guide on how to fill up health bars?
@@t3chn0dr0n3 Just want to say that it's okay to be elitist if you really are elite. Just don't be an ass about it to the casuals like me, but I didn't get that from your post. And you're right, I will take leatherworking with skinning on my druid, knowing that it will never make me a dime, and at best I'll have some pieces a couple of item levels ahead of quest greens. Still, it's fun to make gear for yourself, and on a new Classic server gathered mats are not going to sell that well anyway. So I will play to enjoy being poor and self sufficient for a while. Then, when the AH takes off later, I want to get in on that ground floor. That's the magic of old WoW. The whole game was fun and challenging with so many different parts.
Rosen Kostov Human beats Dwarf when it comes to priest. The permanent spirit bonus helps with every single spell, whereas dwarf priest only get one beneficial spell which is sometimes useful. Also, dwarfs are fat.
Hey man, I saw you had a “deep dive” on warlock and rouge. Any plans on doing one for priest? Would love a long formatted video while leveling. Thanks!
Honestly, I didn't see Tailoring and Engineering as the best choices for PvE Priest. I personally think Herbalism/Alchemy are better because you can farm and make your own potions. And you will be using a lot of potions (A lot of mana potions) and it's great to be able to do these yourself with just a little bit of roaming around collecting herbs. It's also a good money maker as I've easily made about 50g making and selling various potions and elixirs on the AH on raid nights (without even really making an effort to do so).
Hey dude! First off thank you for your content. I've been watching these class guides. One thing to be careful of is the Engineering thing. If literally the same thing applies to ALL the classes it might be better to do a whole video just on engineering and then reference it in each guide. For people watching all the class guides you do it feels a little bit like time milking.
It really felt good to hear you say you can chose whatever race you want. I want to play priest in classic but I hate dwarves. Human fantasy feels so much better.
The amount of tryhard needed to kick out a priest who isn't a dwarf is so niche, and you will know well beforehand which two or three guilds those will be. In all of my experience playing on multiple servers in classic and later on pservers, the far, far greater concern was always just getting enough people in the raid. And ideally doing so week after week. Yeah, a guild is going to want to try and get a couple of dwarf priests, but if you consistently show up and do what you are supposed to do, nobody is kicking you out. It is a similar talking point whenever druids are mentioned... people go on this min/max talk of how you only bring 2 druids max to a raid. Yeah, okay, it never plays out that way. I've been on raids with 7 resto druids before just because we needed the bodies. You aren't calling off a raid because you don't have the perfect min/maxed class composition... you run with what you got.
Love your videos! Looking forward to a mage guide. With the unique ability to aoe farm within instances from sm armory for 36k/hr with a pre set comp, to solo farming a plethora of dungeon trash for xp and gold, along with the subtle difference of using mqg and properly using mqg i think mage will be a great class to cover. Keep up the good work fam!
@Tips Out Great Guide once again. Can you make a video how get the world and seasonal buffs please?a lot of people ask me how to get in game.Thank's in advance
Mana. Is the reduced healing/damage worth the lower cost? Obviously the more you cast this spell the more you would potentially save by downranking it. As a healer you want to reduce your overheal but still keep a large heal on the roll jic the target spikes. Downranking helps you do this along with other things like fishing for %procs or quicker cast speeds.
You'll definitely pick it up pretty quickly, it's basically knowing how much each rank healz for and then gauging what's appropriately needed and most often used. If you know a huge dmg spike is about to happen on a tank or whatnot and that tank is safely bouncing around 80% health but you want to play it safe you may want to top him off with a lower rank heal just before the dmg spike then immediately start casting the higher rank which if timed correctly will trigger directly after the dmg output.
Yeah you can read around about which ranks to use, but really you will just get a feel for it naturally. Even with zero +healing, you will still want a few different ranks on your bar for different scenarios. As you get more +heal, higher rank heals will feel like overkill, healing for way more than you need. So you will naturally downrank as needed.
one of the things that makes me really worried about classic... for example Truefaith Vestments was introduced in mid 2006, so it was obviously not intended to be the first item to get. then whats the point of every raid/instance that came out before that time period...? I sure hope the devs are no fools, but it seems like there is so much that can go wrong, that I can't really see it going well at all.
Thanks for a good video with a lot of useful resources to new priests. I do however want to politely point out that not explaining the 5-second-rule in a healing guide aimed at max level vanilla is a mistake in my opinion. Maybe you can make an addendum.
Nice guide, but i would add a few things! For the start of a server you really cant get better items for your bracers, legs, cloak and wand than green item of healing. Especially for wand a high of healing item will be bis for the entire game. They are usually really cheap exept for the wand. Also Dire Maul changes this comment since it drops some insane pieces for these slots that i mentioned.
Everyone gave me crap for not re-rolling Dwarf priest in Vanilla. But then after Onyxia fearward didn't matter as much, and they were stuck with ugly dwarves, while I looked stylish in my T3. For professions, I did tailoring and enchanting. I made good money, and was essential for guild.
So a couple things, 1. Talking about bloodvine during tailoring, you specifically focus on the CRIT bonus of the bloodvine for tailors, even though that bloodvine pants are terrible for holy priests, and the crit bonus is not the thing that makes them good for shadow priests (which you dont mention at all) 2. Engineering, while an odd choice is still good except for the fact you dont even explain arcanite dragonling and battle chicken for what theyre actually used for, you dont explain their abilities. You reduce them down the auto attack pets which is quite the opposite of what theyre good for. 3. I dont know where you found that healing pre-bis list but atleast half of it is incorrect. Depending on which patch youre on the neck, shoulders, back, wrist, waist, legs, boots, 1 of the rings, trinkets KINDA, offhand, AND wand...
Heywood Enchanting and Tailoring go really well together for a lot of reasons. However, most of the priests Ive spoken to at the high end pick up engineering for the raid dps. Its extra minmaxy
have to agree never heard of a single raiding priest taking engineering as a raiding profession, heard for pvp but never pve. the lack of a quality caster trinket doesn't make sense for a chicken or dragonling.
I wonder if this engineering idea sprung from present-day private-server thinking, rather than from old vanilla recollections. I don’t remember reading about engineering priests back in the day
I love your content man. But on this guide i felt like youre reading info of what pros recommend and not even explaining those recommendations. Things like talents, gear, i havent fully understood because all said was "this is what you should take" without any logic behind. Just my opinion but was not fun or teaching video at least for me.. Peace&Hype
Cool Fish Planning on doing deep dives later on. Unfortunately, cannot fit everything into guides without them taking ultra long to make (this took 20+hours). With deep dive interviews, we’ll be going super in depth.
Thank you so much Tips! Been waiting for this one a while =) As a hunter main in vanilla I always wanted to test out Spriest for pvp mainly. Atleast until the defuff slot increase for pve. Call me crazy but as you said, RPG after all, I am going to roll a female Nelf Spriest. Due to how armor and animations look on them. Plus that Shadowmeld in pvp means I will most likely get the initial start on who I want when defending a base or when you get close to an enemy base, before you go in combat and when spellblocked I can always cast that "okay-ish" starshards. Something anyway. Considering horde does not have that 10min prayer of healing. If my friends and I would insted roll horde then UD is no brainer and don't need to be afraid of shamans purging you 24/7 when you buff/rebuff. One question tho, as for talents, if your aim is to be Spriest don't you go with the shadow tree from the get go, along with 5/5 wand ofc from disc or would you recommend go more disc/holy and respec at 40 for the shadowform? Thanks again and in advance. You're aweomse! :p
You get 5/5 Wand Spec first, then go for Shadow. At 40 you respec to full Shadow due to the raw power of Shadowform. Some people will say that Spirit Tap > Wand Spec - they're wrong. In case that at low levels your mana regen is high and 2/3 of your damage is wands, do you want even more mana regen or do you want to boost that 2/3 damage? The answer is pretty obvious. The Disc/Holy playstyle is boring and more mana intensive than Shadow because as Shadow you DoT the target and then wand it to death (with the addition of some self-healing and PvP tools), whereas as Disc/Holy you spam Smite until your [1] button breaks or you reach 40, whichever happens first. Sure, you'll be a slightly better healer in the cases where you choose to do dungeons, but is this choice worth the pain during levelling and wPvP? I think not.
Noooo... don't do this to me. I was seriously considering using Classic to cure my altitis and go Horde, but now you have reminded me that I will have to give up my Dwarven PvP priestess! Hmm, maybe accounts on two servers.....................!? Keep up the good work.
Awesome video, but I also feel that it would be helpful to have a little more discussion about some of the talents and abilities. for example, you talk about Holy Nova in the abilities section, yet holy nova is not actually picked in any of the talent builds you showed. So do you recommend it or not? While on the subject, I've heard conflicting things on various forums about whether or not holy nova and prayer of healing affect raid members outside of your party. If anyone knows a reliable source to answer this question, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks again!
forthewaterz his talent builds are a bit strange overall, my guess is that he has never played as a priest and do not fully understand the details of the class. When showing the PI specc he has 5 talent points into silent resolve, while showing deep holy he has 0 points into silent resolve. 1. You never need 5 points into that talent. 2. You for sure do not need it as PI specc, but you do need some as deep holy.
i got all excited until you hit the buffs section - oh my god i forgot virtually everything about pre-raid buffing. I don't know if I want to have to maintain all that stuff, but I still want to shoot for atiesh as my in-game goal. Still possible?
In Naxx and AQ40 I really enjoy playing with more and more Mp5. Spirit is still a good stat though. Sad that u didn`t explain or mention the Hybrid Priest. Would love to see a good Guide for the 31/0/20 or 0/31/20 build.
through all of my raiding I was a heavy mana/5 priest. we raided with multiple priests with all different stat priorities. mana/5 is definitely an under appreciated stat especially with a lot of the gear having +healing on it.
Only go engineering if you're in a very tryhard raiding guild. Or if you plan on pvping. The items he listed is also not ment to boost you. But your group members (fx battle chicken have a chance to boost your group members attack speed)
I highly disagree with the comments about PW:S, restricting rage regen is negated by the fact that you can REALLY absorb some massive damage in addition to healing. If the tank is about to take a series of 3k hits over a 2 or 3 sec time frame, Shield can be highly effective.
I never played class that downranked in vanilla. My question is... If I use an add-on like clique, I don't have enough mouse buttons to bind multiple ranks of all spells. Were vanilla healers usingouse overs with keyboard bindings or how did they do it?
If you want to be good and efficient, you will quickly have 10+ healing spells to bind as a priest. So as you said, clic-casting is not really a thing. However mousover-casting is possible and I highly recommend it for any healer who wants to be more than average. I remember using LunaUI for the raidframes, which supports mouseover-casting through macros. So you need a macro for each spell, but it gets the job done.
Hi tips i get to your channel thanks to Xokas and i am very happy have done it. I just wanted to ask why u havent comment the shadow expect on the video. Thx for this amazing content
George Jewel disc tree has power infusion, force of will and inner focus talents. Couple that with holy tree’s divine fury and at least 3 points in spirit tap. That’s how I level. If you can find a frost mage buddy to level with then you can AOE grind everything into oblivion
At about level 48 I switched away from Shadow and focused on holy/disc and essentially dungeon grinded through to 60. A benefit with a healing spec priest is that they can pretty effectively go into dungeons earlier than the other classes. So getting better gear, doing dungeon quests, and running through to get BIS gear can begin earlier than other classes.
You don't need full holy to heal nor do you need full shadow to level. Just go heavy disc with a bit of holy and spirit tap if you want a hybrid build to level and have useful heals. Most of your leveling is with wands (disc gives 25% talent), shadow word pain, and spirit tap. The deeper shadow stuff, while nice, isn't mana efficient and more of a pvp thing. You aren't going to be spamming mind blast unless you want massive downtime. Echoes seems to have a similar idea. Deep disc with the useful lower tier holy/shadow talents.
after watching this thanks god im playin paladin, 1 button rotation (max rank flash) works on most siuations then just brain afk for the rest of the raid. With occasional BoP
I'm not usually too much against, play what you want. However... Fear ward is just too good. Even if every priest is the raid is a Dwarf, you will still want more fear wards.
It depends on how much dmg needs to be healed, but a lot of people don't seem to understand down ranking correctly. (They just believe in the rumors) Down ranking is not a thing before you hit +250 healing across all healing spells apart from renew which scales slightly differently. Before this point using the highest rank is the most healing per/mana. Also you might aswell cast lvl 4 heal instead of gheal1 when you get to 250> No wounder this new meta thinks that paladins are so great healers O.o
Gheal gets the benefit of the 8 piece tier 2 set bonus though, the heal over time equivalent to the rank 5 Renew, which if I remember correctly, does also get the full benefit of +healing. Also, it isn't cast as a Renew spell, it is its own spell, so it can stack with the actual Renew also.
The effectiveness of down ranking and gheal is a fair distance apart. Ofc the extra dot is nice, not game breaking healing, but it's something. Need to do some math on it to see it's efficiency, one should also take into account that you likely only cast Gheal on a tank so a lot of the hots goes to waste when he is topped of. Most impotent you are stuck in the full t2 set, if you even have it.
New meta? Dude, the game has been out for 15 years and holy pally raid healing was a thing even back then. Surely you aren't suggesting that the entire WoW community has somehow been incorrect for over a decade and you, alone, have some long forgotten knowledge nobody else can see.
@@Matthew-uv6gl Surely paladins heal just fine and have done so since day one. But having tested the numbers and knowing that 99% of people have not. They just repeat whatever they have heard a rumor about. Yes i seem to have some knowledge, that is not common. Heck some people even think you should cast rank 3 heal as a priest? Why would you ever do that!? They only say so cause some youtuber/Wow guide said so, but that is WRONG!
@@FrosteMelon Oh yeah sure, repeating misinformation is a thing. I don't disagree. Though, yeah, in many cases what is being repeated is from the 1% who are crunching the numbers. Post 1.12 and as crit% gets higher in later tiers, paladin heals overtake priest heals in mana efficiency. They had slightly less hps potential but it just didn't matter when you had near infinite mana. Just spam, spam, spam. Worked on raid healing and single target. I will agree that it tends to get exaggerated a bit. Not the mana efficiency, no, that was definitely insane. I mean how useful it was in the bigger picture. Vanilla raid content itself is not overly demanding. The difficulty was more of getting 40 people together at the same time all doing what they should be doing. Beyond that, priest or pally, or even druid, mana wasn't an issue. Though that may be an explanation for where potential misinformation came from. The one, huge benefit of that insane mana efficiency would be for a guild which is undergeared taking on new raid content that has never been cleared yet. i.e., world firsts. It gives more of a buffer for mistakes and time to figure out a fight since there is less worry of healers going OOM. The people going for world firsts are also going to be the people crunching numbers. The 99%, as you put it, see the reliance on holy paladins and assume that is what is needed to clear content. Though the boon was in learning unknown content, not being a requirement to do a fight once it is figured out.
No holy nova.... every holy priests should take holy nova. Very important spell for both grinding gold and for PvP reasons. Points in renew is not important.
holy nova was terrible. mana cost was way to high for the small amount of damage it would do. for pve reasons the points in renew were more beneficial.
Dared- you don`t take holy nova for the damage. You use rank 1 for unstealthing rogues or to stop capping in battlegrounds. You use max rank for aoe farming in places like Dire Maul. Renew Do Not stack, and is mostly wasted mana in raids. And the bonus to renew from the talent points is on the base spell (before gear) so it is basically useless.
You just pointed out using nova for damage to aoe farm, which again is terrible. I'll give you the pvp application for it tho. The only viable raid fight to use holy nova was vael in bwl cause it could be spammed.
@Kieran Brock : While this is correct : "improve renew talent is a waste", the reason for it is definitely not that you will focus on GH and that's all. If all he does is focusing on GH, he's a terrible priest. You should be using Renew, Heal and Flash Heal as well on many occasions. (and in niches PW:S as well, and you should be using your Dispell key very often as well) The reason why improved renew talent is useless is because it brings next to NOTHING to the table. It will only affect the base portion of Renew (so you do NOT get 15% bonus on your Healing Bonus) and it is split between all the ticks of your HoT, which means that you will get a whooping average of 29 health more given back per tick of your renew with 3/3... 29 health per tick for 3 talent points is... abysmal bonus. (at least in my opinion)
farming alts - guilds/friends supplying you - playing AH I think most people will end up leveling a farming alt, it's just really convenient in vanilla to have I knew a hunter on a pserver that had his mount in a week from dinging 60, which I think was the result of him farming mara granted, gold sellers abound
this guide recommends using Tailoring and Enginnering for raiding. then says to put 3 points into improved renew instead of an extra 1% crit, Holy Nova, and reduced magic dmg taken. RIP to anyone that uses this guide for any PVE focused content
I would say to skip renew talents as they are just a waste of talents. You will be only using rank 1 GH for most of the time. PLus healing will greatly outshine most gear upgrades so get used to wearing blues in MC and BWL
What Class would you like to see next?
Mage
Shamans!!!!!
Mage then Rogue.
Mage
warlock
wow 10/10 on the insane quality and tons of information.

Rings: Seal of Rivendare's (Baron Rivendare, Strat UD) stats are better than Maiden's Circle stats before 1.5 (7int 5spi 9spell). After 1.3 you have Emerald Flame Ring.

Priest was my 4th roll in Vanilla/TBC era and it was the most fun character to level. By lvl 40 you get “melt faces” or “shadow” form 😍
Can't wait for classic. Losing my mind over here.
A.A.-ron I feel you brother
Same.. that’s why I just said fuck it and started on Northdale private server to scratch the itch. So sick of retail
Watching TH-cam videos on classic is more fun than BFA
I only just got on the hype train within the last week. OMG it's infuriating.
Same. I recently played through Warcraft 1 and 2. I'm looking at the WC3 reforged release date, which is roughly an eternity away. And I'm looking at the WoW classic release, which isn't an eternity away though feels like it.
Priest is my first and only love. i will never main anything else (been playing since vanilla)
It'd be cool to see how each class looks wearing full pre-raid BiS
great feedback, will do next time!
Awesome! :D
literally have never heard anyone before you say, level your first aid for raiding is a must LOL.
I knew we had to use different ranks of spells to perform properly but holy hell.. This really made me doubt wanting to be a healer, lol.
Great vid, also terrifying.
I ran almost always 26/25 and had unlimited mana with the right gear. I was a 1 man healing crew.
I'm defenitly considering a Priest for classic, this video is really helping me to take a more informed decision. Brilliant work Tip!
13:37 video duration coincidence!?? I think not
Absolutely insane, absolutely insane man.
Crypto Daily wth we have more in common it seems than crypto. Big fan man.
it says 13:36 on my screen. =|
@@XXHattoriHanzoXX Cool! Will be announcing what server I'll be playing on before Classic launches, EU.

Just a couple of corrections:
1. Racials do matter, especially on Alliance. If you dont go Dwarf to get Fear Ward then you are basically giving up
the most useful spell in the game for raiding.
2. Spiritual Guidance and The Human Spirit doesnt synergize well, with full BiS gear ath the end of vanilla, all
consumes and all world buffs you will gain +6 healing. The Human Spirit doesnt even synergize that well with Meditation and 3 set T2
bonus, which is the more prominent and useful benefit of the racial.
3. Choosing tailoring as a profession, when Truthfaith is relevant, is a huge gold drain and only provides a minor
benefit compared to its only relevant counterpart, Robe of the Exalted. Its way more efficient to go Alchemy and
Herbalism at the start and swap one of the two for Engineering when AQ hits.
4. Truthfaith Vestments is not BiS until AQ. It is only BiS until you get the T2 chest +2 more T2 pieces and
2 set from ZG. You wont even replace the T2 chest piece with Robes of the Guardian Saint.
5. The importance of getting the Blodvine set is not crit. Its the hit you want to be able to Mind Control.
Which in turn means you really dont need Tailoring at all since the only benefit is 2 crit which you wont be able to
use since you are using Mind Control.
6. The talents are decent but you definitely dont want to sacrifice 1 point in Holy Specialization for a extra point in
Improved Renew. The percent bonus of Improved Renew is only applied to the base amount of the spell so it pretty minimal.
7. 1 point in Martyrdom? Really? If something hits you in a raid and on top of that crits you... then you are dead.
8. The stat priority is correct but you fail to mention why spirit is so strong, its because of Meditation and
T2 set bonus not because of Spiritual Guidance. I know you said mana regeneration but you should explain the
main benefit and where it comes from.
Also, dwarfs are fat.
top "tip", True Faith Vestments, are BOP to the crafter. So the second you craft them, drop tailoring. Priests have no use for it.
Hey man, I saw you had a “deep dive” on warlock and rouge. Any plans on doing one for priest? Would love a long formatted video while leveling. Thanks!
How is it that 14 years on, people are still misspelling 'Rogue'??
I mained s priest from tbc till wod. Absolutely loved the class especially in tbc and wotlk. Awesome video @Tips Out
Honestly, I didn't see Tailoring and Engineering as the best choices for PvE Priest.
A lot of great information. I would disagree with down-ranking renew, but to each their own. Keep up the great content!
Mind Soothe is bonkers! Skip trash, nab quest objectives/gather in pve. 40 yard range and can make people stand in pvp or keep them in combat.
Donald Corrigan Thanks man :)

I miss spellranks gonna be so fun in classic going back to that. It is so braindead nowadays.
You forgot to mention that after you make your crated piece from tailoring you can drop tailoring if you want for another profession like alchemy.
Never released a Shadow Priest guide tho...

I have heard a lot about down ranking, but how do I know what rank is worth or isn’t work to rank down
Just don’t over use
You'll definitely pick it up pretty quickly, it's basically knowing how much each rank healz for and then gauging what's appropriately needed and most often used. If you know a huge dmg spike is about to happen on a tank or whatnot and that tank is safely bouncing around 80% health but you want to play it safe you may want to top him off with a lower rank heal just before the dmg spike then immediately start casting the higher rank which if timed correctly will trigger directly after the dmg output.
@@judeloire1522 Hey Jude ;) that's exactly it.
Did you ever come out with the mentioned Shadow Priest guide? I can't find it...
one of the things that makes me really worried about classic... for example Truefaith Vestments was introduced in mid 2006, so it was obviously not intended to be the first item to get. then whats the point of every raid/instance that came out before that time period...?
I sure hope the devs are no fools, but it seems like there is so much that can go wrong, that I can't really see it going well at all.
Nice, was using flash light as primary and heal as emergency. Didn't know it was heal as primary
Thanks for a good video with a lot of useful resources to new priests. I do however want to politely point out that not explaining the 5-second-rule in a healing guide aimed at max level vanilla is a mistake in my opinion. Maybe you can make an addendum.
Awesome. Would be great to see what's the top raid gear combination, in addition to the pre-raid gear ;)
Yes Tips! More guides like this one.
Nice guide, but i would add a few things! For the start of a server you really cant get better items for your bracers, legs, cloak and wand than green item of healing. Especially for wand a high of healing item will be bis for the entire game. They are usually really cheap exept for the wand. Also Dire Maul changes this comment since it drops some insane pieces for these slots that i mentioned.
very informative and visually pleasing. good video tipsout.
Pro tip. Mind control priest mobs in sm and use their mana instead of yours.
Good guide.
Really looking forward to the Shadowpriest guide Tips
So a couple things,
1. Talking about bloodvine during tailoring, you specifically focus on the CRIT bonus of the bloodvine for tailors, even though that bloodvine pants are terrible for holy priests, and the crit bonus is not the thing that makes them good for shadow priests (which you dont mention at all)
Am I mistaken or isn't The Magisters set mage only?
@@edakraz241 it's not mage only, none of the dungeon sets are class specific
Been so long I forgot lol
I've never heard of Priests taking Engineering, I always thought they took Tailoring + Enchanting.
Heywood Enchanting and Tailoring go really well together for a lot of reasons. However, most of the priests Ive spoken to at the high end pick up engineering for the raid dps. Its extra minmaxy
clips.twitch.tv/DarkSilkyDaikonTinyFace check this out :p
Engineering is pretty much the tryhard proffession in classic. Especially important in high end PvP.
have to agree never heard of a single raiding priest taking engineering as a raiding profession, heard for pvp but never pve. the lack of a quality caster trinket doesn't make sense for a chicken or dragonling.
I wonder if this engineering idea sprung from present-day private-server thinking, rather than from old vanilla recollections. I don’t remember reading about engineering priests back in the day
Not sure if someone has mentioned this but at the very end of the video you have a great little blurb that i think would be a great intro instead:)
Been waiting for this one a while =)
As a hunter main in vanilla I always wanted to test out Spriest for pvp mainly.
100 Videos, thanks for the quality content!
Thank you, this is an awesome guide!!
i got all excited until you hit the buffs section - oh my god i forgot virtually everything about pre-raid buffing. I don't know if I want to have to maintain all that stuff, but I still want to shoot for atiesh as my in-game goal. Still possible?
Wow.. what a great and detailed guide.. Thank you!
Whats the best order to take the talents in for 26/25/0 if there is a best order, no guides ever seem to show it.
The best order is to level as shadow, lol.
@@thesnuggubus2586 And thats relevent how? I'm not playing solo so why would I level shadow
Has anyone done a classic leveling guide for priests? Priest was my first 60 back in the day and I remember it took me like 5 months to get there.
Kargoz has released one recently. Worth checking out!
Ok so should I use engineering even if I´m healing? All the items look like damage items and I don´t want aggro on me
Only go engineering if you're in a very tryhard raiding guild. Or if you plan on pvping.
The items he listed is also not ment to boost you. But your group members (fx battle chicken have a chance to boost your group members attack speed)
Thank you! This did help!
I am Torn paladin and Shaman, both for pvp/pve content.
Rogue guide when?
Very well done!!
I highly disagree with the comments about PW:S, restricting rage regen is negated by the fact that you can REALLY absorb some massive damage in addition to healing. If the tank is about to take a series of 3k hits over a 2 or 3 sec time frame, Shield can be highly effective.
Thanks dude; great video
I never played class that downranked in vanilla. My question is... If I use an add-on like clique, I don't have enough mouse buttons to bind multiple ranks of all spells. Were vanilla healers usingouse overs with keyboard bindings or how did they do it?
If you want to be good and efficient, you will quickly have 10+ healing spells to bind as a priest. So as you said, clic-casting is not really a thing.
However mousover-casting is possible and I highly recommend it for any healer who wants to be more than average.
I remember using LunaUI for the raidframes, which supports mouseover-casting through macros. So you need a macro for each spell, but it gets the job done.
another kicking guide thanks a lot man !
Thank you for this!!

Could you estimate how much spirit 1 +heal or 1 mp5 is worth? I always wonder.
You mentioned a shadow guide...?
Want to know what's odd? Was just searching your channel 10 minutes ago to see if you had a priest guide.
Jordon_93 Sometimes the hand of fate... doesnt need to be forced
How to level a healing priest? If you go shadow, after lv50, dungeons are hard and you can no longer heal effectively.
I always thought Enchanting was the 2nd trade a priest should have??
At 6:15 you said 21/31/0 build, but your graphic doesn't agree with you ;)
after watching this thanks god im playin paladin, 1 button rotation (max rank flash) works on most siuations then just brain afk for the rest of the raid.
(They just believe in the rumors)
Down ranking is not a thing before you hit +250 healing across all healing spells apart from renew which scales slightly differently. Before this point using the highest rank is the most healing per/mana. Also you might aswell cast lvl 4 heal instead of gheal1 when you get to 250>
No wounder this new meta thinks that paladins are so great healers O.o
Though the boon was in learning unknown content, not being a requirement to do a fight once it is figured out.

holy nova is a key talent... everyone should know...
Fuck, priest healing sounds like a shitton of fun. Maybe I should roll priest....
what spec priest for pve? disc or holy?
This video is 13:37!
paladin or human priest? also priest or paladin? can anyone help me decide?
The only viable raid fight to use holy nova was vael in bwl cause it could be spammed.
if we want shadow no guide?
I was told by my Priest class leader that the improve renew talent is a waste as you will be just focus on GH that all
@Kieran Brock : While this is correct : "improve renew talent is a waste", the reason for it is definitely not that you will focus on GH and that's all. If all he does is focusing on GH, he's a terrible priest. You should be using Renew, Heal and Flash Heal as well on many occasions. (and in niches PW:S as well, and you should be using your Dispell key very often as well)
The reason why improved renew talent is useless is because it brings next to NOTHING to the table.
When you do the shadow priest guide, can you PLEEEEEEZZZZZE cover shadow tanking and how shadow priests can tank scholo and strat.
That am going level my Priest after my Mage.
How could you afford engineering and tailoring?
farming alts - guilds/friends supplying you - playing AH
I think most people will end up leveling a farming alt, it's just really convenient in vanilla to have
I knew a hunter on a pserver that had his mount in a week from dinging 60, which I think was the result of him farming mara
granted, gold sellers abound
imgur.com/a/QrVASft is that the build for questing and sometime go dungeon with friends and heal? 26/25/0 first build.
this guide recommends using Tailoring and Enginnering for raiding. then says to put 3 points into improved renew instead of an extra 1% crit, Holy Nova, and reduced magic dmg taken.
RIP to anyone that uses this guide for any PVE focused content
Engineering is better for PVP than PVE.
@@toasternfriends3329 hence why i put in the latter portion of my comment "RIP to anyone that uses this guide for any PVE focused content".
@@TheSomeRocks Whoa! Calm down there kitty cat, I was just adding a little clarification, not trying to upstage you.
@@toasternfriends3329 what? ok lol. i think you are misreading the situation. o.O
@@TheSomeRocks I love you baby. Smooch Smooch.
I called the police when I saw race selection.
Selecting a race you identify with is so 2019, gg.
I would say to skip renew talents as they are just a waste of talents. You will be only using rank 1 GH for most of the time. PLus healing will greatly outshine most gear upgrades so get used to wearing blues in MC and BWL
You forgot shadow priest
Do warlock please!
Darn you skipped explaining racial abilities
