Being an USAF veteran, I had to get the GAU-5. Many many years ago, I was issued a GUU-5 for duty. So when Troy announced the production of a GAU-5....

What I really appreciate about my GAU-5, it's a shooter. I've pretty much stepped away ARs. My primary is a Robinson Armament XCR-L. However, both as a former Airman and teen of the 80s the GAU-5 will always have a place in my heart.

If nothing else, the markings are so cool on the USAF carbine. A GUU5p clone is fun bec you can just put whatever you feel like in it. Mine has an early slickside BCG. Why? why not? lol

I've built a few clones over the years. None of them are perfectly accurate. It seems a difficult thing to do. However, there are mine so I get to do what I want. I favor the triangle handguards myself. Something about the little plastic M16. When I was a child? What's the little inertia trigger?

is the aft still mad Troy etched the third eye on the receivers? lol .. I am going to try to build an "other firearm" version since H&R have a carbine style brace now and certain states can't have sbr's or pistols but can have others ...

They are quite nice, built on very good receivers. I do wish they had more authentic barrel markings but on the otherhand, they did a good job with the charging handle.
