    I had a collection of AK's. After I felt my collection was complete I decided to purchase the VZ. I appreciated the VZ so much I sold most of my AK's. They just function better which is saying a lot. They are lighter, better trigger, safety , and take stripper clips. It's like the AK and the SKS had a baby.

    I love the vz. 58. I got one of these final beaver barf rifles from CSA several months ago to accompany my AK collection because my Czech heritage demanded it. It's become my favorite rifle not just in my collection, but across the board. I now have a surplus Czech mag pouch filled with surplus mags, and the bayonet came with the rifle for free when I bought it from Atlantic Firearms. It's my go-to rifle now.

    The way TH-camrs post videos that are immediately relatable to my life is sometimes unsettling.
    I just bought a Dtechnik Vz58 the other day and have watched/read every available bit of information on them in the last couple days.

    Vz.58s are awesome. They are so slender and handy, i recently SBRed a 12in pistol from CSA and that thing with a folding stock is by far the handiest little rifle ive owned.

    I got one a few months ago because I heard rumors of them going away. I'm really glad I did, its a really nice gun. I mainly collect AKs but I wanted a Vz just for its unique oddball status. Most of my friends that are into guns have never heard of the Vz 58 somehow.

    A few years ago, a number of vz58v's were imported to South Africa. They were converted to semi-auto by KSK in Czech Republic and refinished in black enamel. After a long wait for a licence, I managed to get one, which came with two original mags, and I also got two FAB Defense (Israel) polymer mags. There were a few failures to feed with my first shots with Norinco ammo, but it only needed some oil.
    Since then, it has been 100% reliable with a variety of handloads (124gr, 138gr and 150gr bullets) with all mags. I made a wood cheek rest that allows the stock to be folded, big improvement in comfort.
    The original designation was "Samopal" vz58, which is Czech for SMG, as it was, like the AK, initially considered to be a replacement for SMG's.

    • @misha5670
      @misha5670 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nice thing is if you wanted, you could easily swap that folding stock on yours to a fixed stock too. And yeah, I allow any firearm a small break-in period. Its only fair. Some years back, also did a couple videos on the Czech SA VZ.24/26 SMGs too.

      You may not have realized you're flexing on Americans, but you low-key are. Among the things we can't get are Chinese 7.62x39 ammo, and originally full-auto guns converted to semi (unless the barrel is replaced, and the receiver is either completely replaced, or torch cut in three places, each removing 1/4" of material, and then welded back together). There's no option to get around these restrictions with licensing as an individual collector, sport shooter, or whatever either. The only way is to run a business that's ostensibly selling the guns and ammo to government entities.

    I have the vz2008. I know people will say its junk but mine the sights are perfectly straight. The folding stock is solid with no wobble. Mags lock in tight. I must have hit the cai lottery. That said i love it as much as my saiga AK.

    • @misha5670
      @misha5670 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nah, most of the CAI guns were fine. They used 2 or 3 different receiver makers, and one was better than the other. Biggest problems I recall were being over-gssed and just having some wornout parts thanks to having been assembled using used-surplus parts. Neither Fox nor I experienced trigger issues but I am sure they did happen as others online gave reports.

    I love them, but it's hard to mount an optic.
    I think chezk still has alot in storage. It's a light rifle, BHO, clip guide, the FGC is cool it's not real a sticker just a different hammer style I wish more pistols used, it's more accurate than the AK, short stoke piston but if it had a rotating bolt it would be amazing.
    CZ they allowed comblock ammo but made their own weapons.
    Stocks are expensive. Beaver barf but it is strong.
    It would be nice if some company made a modernised AK46 rifle as in short stoke gas piston with a upper and lower that breaks open like an AR.
    Pretty cool they make them in .223 so in a ban state if you have a fixed mag it's a great option with the stripper clip guide.
    Would be nice if ruger or another company made something like an M1 carbine in different intermediate rifle calibers with 10 round M1 garand clips.
    Would be perfect for a ban state.

      @@DOOM_A-O Not exactly, though the 'military' style with the original furniture is quickly going away just because of running out of furniture. Here over the summer, a few comments asked me if i'd ever done a VZ58 video? That's usually my sign to make a fresh video, a remembering video + Fox wanted to shoot one of the newer imports. In the end, mostly my videos are because it was fun.

    I bought a Sporter Tactical when I was in school post military. Against my better financial judgement but it was state grant money so it’s whatever lol. I was worried that the current administration would’ve put a kibosh on imports like Obamna did. It’s now wearing a “Kate Moss” stock and some metal lower hand guard. A modern homage to the classic right side folder. I can confidently say they are worth every penny. Buy one you will not regret it.

    My VZ has over 7 thousands rounds. These rifles tend to not like PMC. I never had and FTF’s until I ran PMC and the rounds would nose dive under the feed ramp. Steel cased works best. I wouldn’t say it’s better than an AK cause it’s really not but it’s a good truck gun for what it’s worth. I’d still take an AK over the VZ. Some of the surplus mags can have very tight spring tension and some cycle like butter.

    • @misha5670
      @misha5670 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think 'better' is subjective and just kind of down to what someone liks or needs. The Vz is lighter and slimmer, and typically has a nicer trigger compared with many AKs. But its also more complicated, with more small parts and springs. It heats up faster too.
