He was comparable with Secretariat and Man O'War, based on his wins in The Travers (record), the Classic (running down a Timeform 138 racehorse - outstanding) and here in the Dubai World Cup where seeing was believing.. Completely inhaling a monster in Gun Runner.. I think that either Arrogate or Ghostzapper are the two best horses I've seen run in the last 20-25 years. When Arrogate was on he was unstoppable. Then he just turned himself off and lost his desire to run. Can't help but wonder if something wasn't wrong...like when Lost In the Fog slowed down and they found the cancer had him.

Oh gosh no one would never say Pharaoh was not the best. But this horse is also very special that's all. The day Pharaoh won the crown we knew we saw greatness however we also saw greatness in the other race with Arrogate he was simply supernatural. They can each be great.

Pharaoh was a superior horse, but this is a great horse. There is no doubt he would have beaten Pharaoh. His achievements prior to this race made him an outstanding horse; what he did here was astounding.
No other Horse was like ARROGATE. RIP CHAMP... Less time on earth than SCAT DADDY who got 11yrs... Still gone to soon. SCAT Daddy foals are STILL winning.
An absolutely amazing race. Arrogate just couldn't be stopped. At one point Mike Smith said that being in between horses just made him more aggressive... I wonder about being at the back of the pack! "An absolute monster" indeed...those huge haunches just driving that massive stride. What a horse.
Phenomenal racehorse. And very underestimate around the world because of what subsequently transpired. He’s clearly the best horse to run on dirt this Century. Only Chrome, Pharoah and Ghostzapper come close but none are better than Arrogate. His wins in the Travers, Classic and World Cup where extraordinary. Timeform 139. Almost in Frankel Territory as a 3 year old. Just a monster of a horse and I hope we see his babies do well in a couple years :)
An unbelievable performance. One for the books. Arrogate not only broke last to go on to trounce Gun Runner, Smith hand-rode him in the stretch. We'll never know for sure why Arrogate tailed off so severely in his last three races. I was at Saratoga Race Course when Arrogate announced himself to the racing world, winning the Travers by 13 and becoming the first horse in the long history of the track to run 10 furlongs in under two minutes.
The greatest performance from a horse in the last 30 years, unbelievable. To run down a horse like gun runner as well from that far back, a freak of a horse.

No one could have believed that he had three races left and none of them would be victories. And that the mantle would fall onto the exceedingly good, but not Arrogate-level great, Gun Runner.
He was 70 pounds underweight when he returned to California. I think his tank was emptied in Dubai and he just decided that he wasn't going to try that hard again. Some horsemen thought the way he was traveling behind wasn't the same either, so maybe it was something physical. A shame he passed on so young.
Arrogate ran a big race with a rough trip. He is top horse now, it will be tough to beat him. However, the comparisons to legends is a bit hasty; he beat an end of career Chrome, who i assume is not compared with legends? His career is still short, so we watch. He has to carry 130+ weights, he has to set records perhaps, maybe turf? Europe? major win streak? I think the best comparison at this time is GhostZapper.

But on all known form, California Chrome is undoubtedly a better horse than Rose's in May and against Arrogate, the handicapper has Chrome running equal to his very best. They actually have Chrome running equal to Ghostzapper in Classic. I think Chrome had a slight bigger engine but Ghostzapper was much faster. It's hard to say who's better but one things for sure, Arrogate was certainly better and more powerful than Chrome. So there's a good argument for rating Arrogate highest of the three. But of course, in reality, that doesn't mean Arrogate definitely beats Ghostzapper - this is over 1m2f :)
I had him in the Travers... I've believed in him since the start...... but he has exceeded even my wildest dreams.... I've seen many of the greats in my life... Ruffian Secretariat, Bold Ruler, Northern Dancer, Affirmed, Alydar, John Henry, Kelso, all of them... but this guy.... he may be the best I've ever seen... I'm still blown away.

Spectacular Bid would smoke that horse every time they ran. You really can't go by times. Easy Goer ran the greatest and the most insanely fast mile I've ever seen in my life. Ghostzapper ran some ridiculous times. Even the best horses lose, but they don't get left in the dust like Arrogate did on Saturday. He's obviously a really good horse, but he's not an all-time great.

Arrogate is not Swaps, he is not Bid, he is not Tom Fool, he is not Affirmed, he is not Damascus, he is not Dr. Fager among others. Running infrequently with virtually no competition and without a serious impost does not qualify as greatness. u r naive all those horses u mention ran at Saratoga an he ran the fastest Travers or for that matter the fastest 1 1/4. mile race I av been watching horses from the 60 s an he is one of the best in a short time I av seen. so donot beleave u no more than anyone else the dubai race is one of the very best.
I agree with you. He's not even close to those horses. People can rave about his time in the Travers all they want. Whose time did he beat? General Assembly. Spectacular Bid would smoke that horse every time they ran. You really can't go by times. Easy Goer ran the greatest and the most insanely fast mile I've ever seen in my life. Ghostzapper ran some ridiculous times. Even the best horses lose, but they don't get left in the dust like Arrogate did on Saturday. He's obviously a really good horse, but he's not an all-time great.
