Only just stumbled on your videos. Being a huge Tolkien fan, and a potential pipe weed smoker, your videos are just beautiful and calming. Many blessings and much pipe weed
“Defending their liberty, as one is occasionally obliged to do”. Fitting words, as it is Memorial Day here in the U.S. Thanks for providing some relaxing refuge from the current state of the world.
Learning more than what the western media tells one about that conflict would lead to that phrase being confounded, that the Ukrainian people are at liberty and that the conflict is about their defence of it. I thoroughly enjoy his readings and musings but he is better steering clear of geopolitical subjects of which he has little understanding. Sorry to be a wet blanket.
@sarahhhh775 I'm not sure exactly what your stance on ukraine is but if you are a Russian apologist you can fuck right off. The only one in the wrong here is the country that chose with it's own free will to invade it's neighbor unprovoked. Ukraine is rightfully defending itself from a country led by a narcissistic dictator with a fragile ego. Oh and you can stop with the bullshit insinuation that ukraine isn't an independent and sovereign country defending said sovereignty.
Sadly, the things that are threatening liberty these days are internal and dispersed. It's hard to find the enemy to fight. Things are simpler on a battlefield where you can see the enemy.
Unlike many who profess interpretations and ideas, you actually have such a deep appreciation for language and words and all of life’s simplicities. I always save watching your videos until day’s end when I’m reclined in a comfortable chair with a large cup of tea.
“He took to writing poetry and visiting the elves,“ reminds me of one of my favorite Anglicisms: “…off with the fairies.“. An entirely different meaning to be sure, but both of them warm my heart. Though perhaps not as cozy as a Hobbit hole, I’m basking on my back porch in glorious Colorado sunshine, and enjoying a pipe myself. Thanks for the visit!
You remind me so much of my grandfather and his office. I miss him so much. I am always happy to watch your videos. I feel I can enjoy his company again. Many blessings from São Paulo, Brazil!

Dear Mr. Guite writes your Ukrainian admirer. My name is Daniel and I am full of love for your work! I give cultural lectures at the Dnieper Central Library, and as part of this project I managed to work with such writers as G.L. Oldie, Marcus Gasser, Brian Lee Durfee, Dmitry Gubin and others. Tell me, dear Mr. Guite, is it possible to interview you for our library? Best of luck. Yours D.E.Paes
I just love the pauses away from the story to really explain the theories of the writing and provide a good understanding....bravo to you, i will always be a subscriber
Allegorically speaking, it is also Tolkien who returns home at the end of the novel from his flight of fantasy - the writing of the novel comes to an end
In a world that is falling apart and getting crazier every day, this channel is a blessing! Thank you very much and greetings from Germany! Five Lake Pipe Smoker 🍂🔥💨
I just started reading the hobbit to my kids before bed. It's now my oldest daughters favorite time. All the kids and my wife scoot in around me in one bed, and we, for 30 min to an hour read from one of my most beloved books. It has vastly become my favorite part of the day. I got inspired to do this because I've been having such a good time listening to you read from the hobbit and talk about how the story moves you. I thought I would try to do the same for my family, what you had done for me.
Hello from Australia, listening to you spin a yarn over a tasty bowl and a dram is extremely comforting and satisfying. Always look forward to sitting down and listening to you read Tolkien or better yet, a poem of yours.
Currently watching this while just outside of Kyiv on summer retreat… I am so blessed to have found your channel!! Thank you for all of your support and insightful encouragement
Mr Guite I've been enjoying your videos for a year or two now and whenever I feel rather down I find myself listening to your videos of you talking about Tolkien and his work, and it rather makes me happy because the way you talk about Tolkien and his work reminds me exactly of my grandfather who is unfortunately no longer with us and I'd like to thank you for reminding me of him and bringing me alot of joy these few years, I wish you good fortune and success in your future endeavours Mr guite
As someone who grew up reading, or I should say "inhaling" everything from the good Prof' T, I have to say your videos get me tempted to buy a pipe purely to sit out in my yard having a read and puffing away.
Discovered this wonderful book as a mature student, and read it as a bedtime story to my first child, but enjoyed it more while sharing it with an adult who didn't read anything as a boy. There's something very precious about sharing loved books by reading them aloud that aids enjoyment and also one's own memory. You read it so well, and we enjoy all that you share with us. Thank God we don't all have great responsibilities, but like Bilbo, choosing not to shirk ours does benefit others, even if in unseen ways. Thank you both once again, with our love. 💞 💙
What a besutiful pipe! My fiance and I love to hear you read from Tolkien and other poems while we get ready for bed. Your help give us calm in a crazy world. Thank you so very much!
thank you, as a young Tolkien fan I have to thank you. I lost my grandfather recently and while he was his own unique man, there is something about him I find in you. So your readings of the hobbit (my personal favourite book) have become a comfort for me in the dark.
I love your peace. I love your room. My favorite part is the window. I've been in England and i picture a landscape of your influence somehow, a beautiful place of all things interesting, waiting outside through the pane of glass.
your casual speak is poetry, depth has been lossed with our current iteration of english, but a few such as you, hold on to it's roots. such a blessing, thank you
Just a quick note hello to you, my brother in Christ! I am in the middle of listening to your talk on Macdonald presented at the Wade center, and I just wanted to say thank you. I realize I am behind in my reading of authors I should hold dear. At any case, have a beautiful day, wherever you are at the moment. God bless you.

Hearing you speak, smoke and read calms my soul, and brings peace to my mind. Thank you for these little videos. Some of the best TH-cam has to offer😊😊🙏
How very wonderful. I, like Bilbo, have several relatives and acquaintances I'd rather avoid were possible. Several times, I've had to make like the pimpernel and hide in the larder away from the windows.😂. Very wonderful to here you read again and good luck on the road.
Greetings from Wales and thank you for these wonderful videos Malcolm. I'm making my way through the LOTR audiobook. You should consider doing some Tolkien audiobooks, they'd be a joy to listen to, I'm sure! Good luck on your American adventure. May the sun always be on your back, and may your pipe be forever full.

Mr Guite yet again you regale us with your visit to the LOTR universe. It’s always a joy to sit in on these videos as LOTR holds a special place in my heart like so many. Any thoughts on releasing an audiobook? With your voice and the passion you bring to the words I would love to hear you read anything. Can’t wait to sit in again soon. I just recently bought at long last my very first Peterson spigot pipe I was surprised how light it was it's a fishtail model & I bought 100g of newminster flake I long anticipated the moment and didn't rush the ritual of the careful fill of the bowl 3 pinches of the precious flake and then ready to light and then I thought how can I have this new pipe what should I accompany it with and I decided upon talisker single malt I sat for an entire hour until it went out and kept looking at the pipe and how nice the system spigot really is it was so good to smoke and so easy too I felt a deep appreciation of Peterson's pipes I am now content after that delightful peace God bless the pipe I say God bless the pipe. 😊
So lovely it it to hear your voice Malcolm, I thought I would come here to say that I’ve gone out and bought both my first and second tobacco pipe (I probably should have left it a one but I just couldn’t help myself). Anyway I will be very much looking forward to smoking my pipe alongside you (in spirit at least)

I watched LOTR on a tablet in jail not a viewing experience I’d like to repeat
A beautiful gift! I’ve always loved that the last two words of The Hobbit are “tobacco-jar”. It’s such a perfect ending, to me.
nice to see you here, kevin!

Most people wont think much of it, but there's a Boss TR-2 on the shelf... This man is a true hero.
The Hobbits introduced a scent of innocence and poetry into Tolkien's tales, and that scent spread throughout his work.

Delighted to hear that you're going to bring Elves into Arthur's story, and here again I hope you can consider taking up the opportunity Milton did not, in the end, pursue, of Arthur's "wars beneath the earth."
