I was lucky enough to say I have been there from a Viking cruise ship. Interesting, yes! Also, Greenland has the world's highest suicide rate sadly. Winter has to be the longest and harsh. Everything has to be shipped in. Nothing grows there. Can't imagine going out in the ocean and having an emergency. .scary stuff. The Vikings only stayed there about a couple of hundred years then into Canada to Newfoundland. Vikings knew it was too difficult an area. Would love to get back some day. Thanks.
@@smartkhan5381 Just around the corner they got greenhouses, potatoes, iceberg salat, tomatoes etc. I grew up there in Qaqortoq, now back in Denmark. You should definitely visit, and swing by Igaliko !
Yes you must visit. It was a great experience for me. Thank you for the nice comment. It was tough working on ships. This video was done in less than 48 hrs with lots of pressure.
Tusind tak for at vise Qaqortoq's smukke smukke natur og det's historie. Det er altid en skøn og dejlig følelse at se Grønlands smukke byer og det's farverige huse og bygninger.
great video which informs us well about Greenland. I wish that I could visit Greenland someday. Anyway, I just want to say "Happy Birthday" since tomorrow is the 4th of October. thanks
I very love their environment it is very clean and low of pollutions unlike the cities here in the philippines, It is very simple, but it is very wonderful.. Most specially the color of the houses it is very nice.. to see.. =)
Awesome video and beautiful town. Life in the far north fascinates me, and one day I would love to visit. Questions: 1) Is there a restaurant/bar scene in Qaqortoq? 2) How do people make a living? 3) What size is the population? 4) where do students go to pursue higher education? I'm assuming Qaqortoq doesn't have a university. 5) What's the cost of a 1 litre bottle of juice? 6) Does Greenland have a vibrant music scene? 7) Hospitals? 8) What currency do you use, and who governs things like taxation, etc.
I was only there twice and each time for only the day do I can’t really answer your questions but I do know it is a thriving community with lots going on. It is expensive as it is so isolated but they have all the amenities. I had an awesome Thai Meal there. Thanks for the nice comment. I am ramping up my travel series and releasing some new stuff under The Epic Traveler brand. But there is one thing for sure to answer all your questions perfectly. You must Travel there.
2) People make a living with fishing and an allowance from denmark of 150€ per month. 3)now like 3300. 4) Theres a university in the capital nuuk (they go by plane) but they dont go to canada or south because its too expensive. 6) Theres nanook but i dont know much about them 7) There are many hospitals on the west coast but you gotta get flown there and Planes and helies dont come too often 8) they use euro since they‘re still in the kingdom of denmark.
Hello, I really enjoyed your video, nice and friendly, not trying to sell the place, good commentator, would really like to visit your town after watching your video, love the towns artwork and cultural stories and you have roads, are there any woodlands where you are in Qaqortoq?
I find that city very beautiful ! I am actually gathering information because I am thinking of coming and settling down in Greenland next year. I was interested in Nuuk, but then I discovered Qaqortoq a couple of days ago, smaller but looks amazing ! Would you think it is a good idea (work and accommodation-wise) to come and live in Qaqortoq ??
Thank you, Richard. Where are you standing in this video? I am curious to know where you would be on a map and where you are relative to the Dyrnes Church.
Sooo....Cool .…beautiful ! as you are the resident of qaqortoq kindly tell , at 3.32 the nameplate on the yellow house Kalak Niwas seems Indian ,is this so ? I would like to know.☺
Hashish is more popular in greenland. It is more logical for drug traffickers to bring something more potent and compact. Few people grow marijuana there so most is imported from Europe, Canada, or Iceland. You will have a hard time making connections in greenland because of the language barrier and all.
Anyone know how to spell the name of the folklore hero mentioned around 4 min 10 seconds in? I teach a class on culture for little kids and they want to learn about Greenland. I think that story would be a nice one for them and I'd like to find out more.
Kaassassuk, I believe. There isin't a great deal of information about him that I can find, but this might help: www.greatestplaces.org/medias/greenland/songs/kaass.htm
Beautiful! But I'd like to know more about the culture. It's very ironic that there's a European telling us the story. Same here: Where are our natives in the US?
There are two forests growing in Greenland (that I know of), one is natural, in the Qingua Valley, and the other is planted in Narsarsuaq (the Greenlandic Arboretum).
that flag should be scrapped and they should replace with a flag with lots of green in it. if ever make it to that god forsaken, ice blown country i'll be sure to tell them that- I bet everyone in Greenland would appreciate it
Your city is like a box of beautiful crayons! One day! I will visit!
I would love to live in Greenland. It looks like such a wonderful quaint place.
I LOVE U 🇬🇱🇬🇱.....I,m from East-Timor🇹🇱🇹🇱......🇬🇱🇬🇱🇬🇱🇹🇱🇹🇱🇹🇱

Awesome music ! could you please tell me whether I can download this music ??

Thank you for this.
Hello, I really enjoyed your video, nice and friendly, not trying to sell the place, good commentator, would really like to visit your town after watching your video, love the towns artwork and cultural stories and you have roads, are there any woodlands where you are in Qaqortoq?
"Woodlands" are nonexistent in Greenland! The environment is too inhospitable.
I have read that Narsarsuaq, to the northeast of Qaqortoq, has an arboretum of trees from treeline climates of the Northern Hemisphere.
Thank you I'd like to come and see this one day
it is lonely over here.
Are there any grasslands for horses?
Very v good video
Thanks for your video. How do you get around town? or is it that small that you can walk to all parts?
I was standing in many places. Now I am standing in an Irish Pub in Piraeus Greece.
Wonderful video :)

Dude I have been to Dubai other Arab Emirates and found Arabs to be very nice genuine people.
Thank You!
Do they have good postal services?
Sooo....Cool .…beautiful ! as you are the resident of qaqortoq kindly tell , at 3.32 the nameplate on the yellow house Kalak Niwas seems Indian ,is this so ? I would like to know.☺

Where can i find this music i want to buy this song, thanks in advance
Is there any way I could buy weed in Greenland? Does anyone know any growers or dealers?
Stop off in Reykjavik if you're traveling in from the east, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised ;D

so sad, there are no trees. );
There are two forests growing in Greenland (that I know of), one is natural, in the Qingua Valley, and the other is planted in Narsarsuaq (the Greenlandic Arboretum).

Read , please: The last Greenland Viking . It is a value , it's worth to read that...!
do you live on greenland?
Where are you standing now?
looks nice, the price of booze is kind of a detour though :P
No I live on the sea. Originally from Toronto.
I'm thinking about studying greenlandic
Thanks 😊👍2023now
is this the correct pronunciation? 1:03
Pity of all that rock gravity
I would gladly pay $20 for Tuborg over nothing for Budweiser .
I wonder why it isn't a favoured retirement centre for Danish people?
3Qs in one name? QAQOORTOQ.

That I donot know. You will have to try some random searches on Google
Meaning, there are people living here.
They are on the edge of North America yet the Vikings went no further.
Hate is a strong word!

No arabs or muslims. Such a beautiful place. Keep it white.
Fuck sake, calm down on the music.
that flag should be scrapped and they should replace with a flag with lots of green in it. if ever make it to that god forsaken, ice blown country i'll be sure to tell them that- I bet everyone in Greenland would appreciate it
Most of us would want to keep our flag red and white.
