- I"m leaving the uk. i decided to travel for a certain period of time. i am tired of the same things week to week or month to month. I do not feel stressed, depressed or under any pressure right now . I have the freedom to do what i want 24 hours per day . I hope you can find a way to give yourself a break from everything which will give you time to think about yourself and what you want in life . Stay strong and keep fighting for what you want . Chris you make such a good point. People really need to listen to that. When I first told people I was moving to Thailand back in 2003 they all said what a bad idea it was, apart from one guy who said I'd love it. When I looked back on it I realized he was the only person out of all of them that had actually been there! Crazy isn't it! :) I learned then you need to be careful about who you listen to - as you say, most people have NO idea what Thailand is actually like - because they've never been there. Good luck with your own move - the time will fly so hopefully you'll still get some trips out to LOS in the mean time!

I remember my 1st trip there 28 years ago and when I walked out of the airport my lungs felt like they were on fire but something just clicked with the the feel of Thailand and been there every year since. Good for you I admire I’m from Scotland and am 63 years old living in Colombia and I love it I will never return to the uk,went home last year and felt depressed most of the time with the weather , everything expensive the politics nah you can keep it

It's my first time seeing you on TH-cam. Thailand is a fantastic country for foreigners, especially white people (I'm not racist, but it's just how it is). There's plenty of sunshine, beautiful beaches, and friendly people. I think you'll really enjoy living here. However, as a local who has lived in Thailand for 50 years, there is something you should know. First, keep your money as safe as possible-don't trust anyone else to look after it, or you might lose everything. Second, the legal system here can be very....... I won’t go into too much detail because it’s risky for me too, but just be careful. Third, remember that money talks very loudly in Thailand so...

At 49 I think it's a big gamble. I assume you know the visa retirement rules. Your money won't last forever without a pension or some sort of income.But......good luck, I moved here last year. I can walk around and enjoy what is going on. I do not need a car or motorbike . Like i said , it depends on your lifestyle. My advice would be . Research as much as you can for what you want . I have so much advice, but not sure YT comments is the best place for it! :) 21 years ago I was where you are now. I moved to Thailand back in 2003 and it was the best thing I ever did. Don't listen to the naysayers. I moved on to Malaysia in 2006, and Philippines in 2011, and now consider Philippines to be my second home. I love everything about the place. You only get one life. I've quit my job sold my car and will be doing the same end of May, starting off in Thailand.
Also about the weather. They have been doing weather modification heavily for the past 2 years, no question about it. More rainfall and more cloudy days than ever before. We didn't get a summer last year and I can see the same happening this year. Fuck the UK and fuck the government. You made the right decision for your future happiness.
