You don't need all to be 5*. I used Alhaitham(c1), Raiden, Nahida and Kuki for the first team. 2nd is Ayato( c2), Xiangling, Kazuha and Benny. And my Raiden is not even OP LOL. She hits like only 40-50k on her burst. She's just there to keep up with Alhaitham's rotation with her skill. I think for this abysss, positioning is even more crucial esp for time saving. And ofc dodging 🤣 Edit: damn I get why others say genshin fandom are the worse Genshin players seriously have superiority complex if they're salivating and tripping all over each other to point out how much I 'missed the point.' muting this because it's getting ridiculous.

This abyss single handedly has made more angry than anything else in this game. Its so difficult to make a team that can efficiently break all the elemental shields in the bottom half. Ive been able to 36 star for so long but this. This is nightmare fuel. Ps. For those of yall saying skill issue, half of the abyss isnt skill issue. Abyss has just become a damage check with a side of screw you to certain team comps and also people arent as lucky as yall with artifacts. I will never understand people who say skill issue and act all high and mighty cus they cleared abyss instead of clearing their rooms lmao
This abyss damn near made me quit. I'm definitely taking a break until Fontaine drops. I've been playing since day 1 and have spent a good amount of money on the game and even I struggled to 36 star - I can't imagine how difficult it must be for f2p or bp/welkin players. It's not even the satisfying kind of difficult, just a damage sponge and an element check on the second half. I felt nothing after beating it - no triumph, no satisfaction, just nothing. Yeah it sucks. Recent abyss's feels more like a chore than a challenge. Every new enemy they introduce now just loves to jump all over the place and will send you flying accross the floor with the slightest touch.
nah same. i played since around 1.6 and am a dolphin, i have many chars and most of them are cracked/well built but i haven't been able to 36 star since last 3.6 abyss for the first time. i dont have them time to keep on retrying for hours upon hours.
Found out that the invisible ceiling is very high. Yelan got hit and went straight up, took a lot of fall damage. It's my second clip of characters flying in the abyss because of how aggressive the enemies are.
For the 1st time in like 2 years I gave up trying teams that could do all chambers at once and just used a team for 12-1, 2nd half, and a different one for the other two chambers.
@@alexanderluna4598 I was able to find a team to do the whole second half; however in the 1st chamber I need to dodge those heralds non-stop and pray Kuki keep me alive. It’s basically the same team I 36* it earlier but with XL instead of Zhongli so I got pyro for 12-3. But mono pyro is much better against the 1st chamber.
You know how we used to say that shielders were more of a luxury than a necessity, because you could learn the patterns and dodge? Well, based on the latests Abyss shielders or some other form of stagger resistance have become pretty much mandatory for a clear without tons of restarts.
Aside from anti stagger, having a shield also prevents you from getting affected by CD & stamina debuff of abyss heralds if you get hit by their special attacks. Same with abyss lectors too, shield can negate their HP & energy drain attacks.
it's still a luxury and comfort pick. dodging is perfect immunity and bursts too. we have a ton of healers that have been meta for a long time because reaction based damage is irrelevant to the rest of your team's damage and has been more than enough to meet the timer using a single electro character for hyperbloom. if people cry about how the game is only about damage and then suddenly they give people a reason to use a healer all of a sudden people are pissy about it since they never learned to dodge and ? it's just sad.
@@richardjones8846 i learned to dodge and . sometimes the two sprints do not suffice. sometimes they stagger us when we're out of sprints, especially with those heralds spinning like retards. zhongli makes my 12-1-2 easy peasy. only for that chamber tho, the rest I did without zhongli.
You don't need Nahida & Kazuha to get fullstar. 4-star characters are enough, but you need their constellation. But yeah I agree, this Abyss is the hardest one. It took me almost 3 hours to get 9 stars on floor 12.
@@grimoireweissfan6969 I completed it without Kazuha, but did it with Nahida. Burgeon on 2nd half is more or less recommended. So National team + Nahida works well there.

After got 36 stars in every season for so long. I was destroyed in 12-1-2 by those abyss herald freeze combo, not even pass 1st chamber. And with your guide, it help me let this abyss go more easily. I think I can happily find 150 primogems elsewhere.
me too my yoimiya got destroyed in first chamber before i even got the chance to use her in 2nd and 3rd chamber to let her clear 1st floor i had to use both my bennet and zongli so that she won't die by those abyss heralds 😭
Literally the hardest abyss by far, after getting full stars for 25+ times in a row this is my first time that I will not 36 star it. The amount of time and effort it takes just to get an extra 50 primos and 25k mora just doesn't seem worth it to me

I've 36 starred every abyss since 2.8, the fact that my endgame dolphin account with good artifacts can't even get close to 36 starring this abyss is ridiculous.

I bet Hoyo's strategy is to increase abyss difficulty so much that it frustrates everyone, and then make Fontaine characters destroy it so easily, easy profits.
I struggled with Chamber 1's heralds more than Chamber 3's beast. The cryo heralds ice spikes burst through my bennett heals paired with the continuous freeze. The beasts were easy as I observed that when you try to target the hydro one first, the dendro one follows and they are then grouped together, the Inquisitor was the easiest opponent if you follow the rotation properly. My team was Mono Geo with Fischl for the first half and xinqiu-xiangling-nahida-bennett for the second half.
your issue was going mono geo with phys fischl (ik it has some niche situations but no thanks) i literally just use any national/raiden team with one or two 5 stars so i can dodge attacks by triggering their burst and then zhongli with black tassle carries my spread nahida yae fischl team thru the top half but i needed burgeon to 3 star bottom of chamber 1 because of trying to survive being frozen lol
Hoyo doesn't want to add different endgame content because they don't want to make more anxiety inducing modes. Instead, they've decided to focus all anxiety into the abyss to really fuck anyone that wants to have fun with the combat. This is actually a really sneaky ploy to drive away everyone that is interested in the combat so that they can be lazy with character kit designs like dehya and make them just viable for the casual content.

It was unironically Klee who tore through the abyss shields for me and enabled me to 36star this abyss. I forgot how she is inherently a shield shredder and her pyro application is insane (granted, you have to be onfield for that to persist).
They're not so bad, you have plenty of time since the one dude on part 2 goes down easy. It's 12-1 that's a massive pain in the ass with the enemy wave spawns and spacing.
Next Abyss be like, 4 at the same time Hydro, Pyro, Dendro and Electro Your characters get Quickened, Aggravated, Spread, Vaporized, Hyperbloomed, Burgeoned, Burned, Overloaded, Electrocharged, stunlocked etc.
What I hate the most about the recent abyss, is that if I wanna actually do good I need to make and also revamp 2 new teams cause cryo hasn’t been on the upper end recently and phy dam sadly can’t do super mega numbers fast enough
The design has definitely slowly steered towards building teams of every element, I feel like ever since around the time the thunder and geo wolves were introduced. Before that point, they'd usually only have one or two immunities per side, but since then they've pretty much been happy to force highly specific teams
It sucks that cryo keeps getting the short end of the stick. I'm mostly mono-cryo that sometimes get forced to do freeze and the bias with dendro is starting to really get old. It sucks I need to be forced to play dendro or multi-element teams now.
They defo trying to reduce cryo efficiency but ayaka freeze still work for every single abyss til date, not only work, it's still one of the best team comp, last abyss bottom half easily clear with ayaka freeze despite having an invisible dorito boss (just wait it out and burst it in 2 rotation, should be less than 90s), this abyss ayaka freeze easily clear top half (not even close), even on wenut abyss ayaka freeze easily clear the damn wenut (wenut is pretty trash boss once you know how to counter it). The line of character freeze team have is so superior even with abyss design for you to use dendro, cryo still prevail.

I was stressed out doing this abyss but looking back at it now it's finished, it reminds me of the early days when I first started getting 36 stars in the abyss, when it wasn't just another chore to complete after a refresh, when strategy mattered, when gameplay mattered, when the game was a challenge. Idk, I'm not even going to get a single star on floor 12 on my f2p account but it is kinda refreshing to be pushed on my main account again
It really was kinda hard. Tho the hardest part was the first floor. I used on first half Baizhu, Raiden, Kazuha a Yae (C1) And used on seccond half Nahida (C2), Xiangling, Bennet and Yelan (C1)
If it's any help to anyone: I'm an f2p mobile player, with medium invested artifacts/builds, and have 36 starred this abyss using these characters on floor 12: Top half: Nahida C0 (4pc Deepwood, hybrid EM and crit build with Sacrificial fragments); Kokomi C0 (4pc Ocean Hued Clam set with HP/Healing bonus main stats); Raiden C0 (4pc Gilded, full EM build with Dragon's Bane); Yelan C1 (4pc Emblem, Favonius bow, classic build). Bottom half: Yaoyao C1 (4pc Deepwood, Favonius Lance, focus on HP%/healing bonus and with at least 50% crit rate/200%ER); Xingqiu C6 (4pc Emblem set with Favonius sword, standard build); Bennett C5 (4pc Noblesse set with emphasys on HP, Healing bonus and ER - you'll need it!); Xiangling C6 (4pc Emblem set with The Catch, standard crit/atk/em build with a lot of ER). For the top half any hyperbloom or invested hypercarry team will do, provided you can really brute force it and shield/heal through the agressive lectors and beasts. Hyperbloom is nice beacuase it's very easy to build and also has extremely high base damage, plus the hyperbloom seeds even follow moving enemies. Yaoyao National was by far the best burgeon team I've tried during this abyss. Other burgeon teams like Thoma burgeon (Nahida, Xingiqu, Bennett and Thoma) simply didn't have enough single target dmg against the final boss. However, Yaoyao, Xingqiu, Bennett and Xiangling all have fantastic elemental application and excellent damage output, so it was much easier to kill the final boss. Just make sure that your healers and shielders have enough healing and shielding power. And make sure you have enough ER on everybody, so you can have smooth rotations. Having poor burst uptime is a huge dps loss! Good luck to everyone! And screw you Hoyoverse!
This is the hardest Abyss 12 ever for me. Had to quit so many times to bring a different team for the 1st chamber. I ended up doing it with 1st half Wanderer ZL Yelan Faruzan and 2nd half Ayato Bennett XL Kazuha. Pretty scuffed but I managed to break the Hydro shield with Swirls from the other two. But then I had to change again for 12-3 because my top half team wasn't doing enough to the Consecrated Beasts.
12-1-1 -> The doritos can be grouped by running towards the left dorito (dorito on the right is forced to move towards you). Sucrose can also be very helpful here. 12-1-2 -> The Cryo Abyss Mage has Thorns Effect , applying Cryo to yourself whenever it is attacked (it is enabled ~1s after spawning). Cleanse (Thoma E/Benny Q) can be really helpful here. The other two chambers are mostly just DPS check (you can force the Thunderbird to stay in the middle, but it requires perfect input)
Yo, those are great details, thanks. I also think running to the wall to group whoppflowers is just waste of time, I was grouping everything just by staying in the middle and using Kazu. Not sure how with Sucrose. How one can 'force' Thunder Manifestation to stay in the middle??? It's not 'Thunderbird', btw, just manifestation, shadow of it.
Theres so much more rng than usual. So many of the enemies can fly across the map but cant be sucked in with kazuha or sucrose making grouping completely rng First time I've gotten 35 stars since I started doing the abyss. It's not that I can't do it I just do want to deal with it anymore or use 2 different teams for 50 primos.
This abyss is just an artifact check. If you're a d1 player with good artifact you should be able to clear it easily. If you're a newer player you're fucked lmao.
@@kejuenak3835 Not necessarily. Lots of people with well built characters, dolphin level of investment and a fine understanding of the game still struggled and I've seen very few people only who actually enjoyed the challenge this time.
Hands down one of the most difficult abyss 12 floors we have gotten. To clear the first floor I literally needed to use Kokomi AND baizhi with nilou and nahida in order to kill things quick enough and not get taken out myself 😭
@@Extrnal The crazy thing is I had 5 star characters with constellations and I still struggled I can’t imagine how the FTP community does this. The way the spiral Abyss difficulty spiked up the rewards should be increased as well.
@@Yuuerin F2P like me is happy to just get to Floor 12 and have a several second glimpse of what an endgame battle looks like :) But I only played 6 months and I have got no endgame 5* characters like Zhongli, Raiden, Kokomi, Kazuha, and many others.
@@Yuuerin F2P should still be able to clear it the abyss if they have the right fully-built chars. Tbh the 2nd half for 12-3 is ez with the right combo of char. Even If you don't have a good pyro build, you can basically wait for the Ice Shield to run out and max dps for the hydro/pyro phases. The Hydro phase is ez to clear with dendro, the pyro is easy to clear with Hydro. Managed to clear it with a Nilou Team (1st try), which was unoptimal to say the least. 1st Half is difficult however with 4 consecrated beasts. This is where most people run out the timer, I imagine. I managed to somehow scrape through on my 1st attempt with a completely new test build spread team C6 Kuki- C1 Catch Raiden- C0 Tighnari- Dendro MC team. 1/5 Would not recommend, spent more than 3 mins killing the beasts and my first try at 12-3 only got a single star. I'd seen people however attempt it with the meme Damage showcase team Bennett-Mona-Kazuha/Sucrose-Insert DPS here* with better results.
@@stribijev Raiden isn't exactly end-game not in the same league as Zhongli/Kokomi/Kazuha/Nahida, at least not without C2, a full crit-stack emblem build, her signature 5* weapon and maybe C6 Sara. She is best battery though.
Have been 36-starring since 2.4, but I think I'm defeated here. Was able to 3-star 12-1 with no healer offense-skewed Morgana + Bennett / XL / Sayu / Kazuha full auto pyro swirl. Was able to 3-star 12-2 with Aggravate + Hyperbloom. But 12-3 I'm like a full minute off. Best I can do is 8:20 first half, but I can't deal with Baptist in a timely manner no matter what team I bring.
Got it done! It took 3 good buffs (+skill, +crit, +burst) with 5 seconds to spare, but I'll take it. 12-3 top: Hyperbloom (Yaoyao/XQ/Al-Haitham/EM Raiden) 12-3 bottom: Dendro National (Bennett/Yelan/XL/Baizhu).
I agree this abyss is horrendous, and completely unfair, but I also feel like we should move away from the concept of everything being able to be done with only 4 stars, which I see a lot of people complaining about in the comments. Spiral abyss, especially floor 12, is for endgame players who should've pretty much maxed their characters to an extent, as well as played for a long enough time to have multiple 5 stars. If you are actually playing the game, and spend your primos normally, you should have multiple 5 stars by now, some which might be meta assuming you pulled on newer dendro characters. We get enough primos to pull a 5 star every patch or 2, so that really shouldn't be the issue. But hoyoverse is also delusional for putting out content they obviously haven't tested enough, or tested correctly
1st half: Kazuha, Raiden, Xinqiu, Yaoyao 2nd half: Zhong li, Hu tao, Yelan, Nahida I use this team and got fairly reasonable clear time. My tips is build Yelan with bunch of ER since her burst uptime is so crucial for applying hydro and buffing Hu tao's damage. And for the last chamber you can delay Zhong li's shield in case the boss cast cryo shield early.
@@Suuuushj1 I personally use favonious bow. If you have decent crit rate you can use fav bow, if you have high refinement sac bow you can also use it.
It took me 20 battles to 36* this abyss. In comparison, the last two took 12 and 13 battles, respectively. I used Kazuha, Raiden, Yae, Bennett and Zhongli, Klee, XQ, Nahida on floor 12. Raiden & Nahida C2R1, Yae & Klee C0R1. Klee burgeon actually felt meta for floor 12 second half 😅. Who could've thought.
For the first half of 12-1, I have a way to group those robot doritos without Anemo grouper for both 2 waves. If you run on to the robot on the left, the right one will likely to move toward you.
Would be cool to see a video about the direction the abyss is going and your thoughts on it, it feels more and more stupid with basically oneshots terrible combinations of enemies, it feels like hoyo are trying to make it more annoying than anything
As always, blessings matter. Couldn't clear it before the daily reset, but after the day changed and got crit rate and dmg on 12-1 and -15def/+40atk on 12-3, it was an absolute breeze, even the 4 beasts!! I did improve my teams a bit admittedly.
To minimize stress in this abyss, do not approach with a 36-star goal, instead to come up with suitable teams for each chamber and with practice, aim for 36-star. Looking at the current banners and the abyss buff, consider pyro/electro/normal attacks. I’m a 2-year F2P and here are the teams I’m trying : First half - Raiden, Yelan, Kazuha, Zhongli. Second half - Nahida, Kuki, Xingqiu, Xiangling Managed to 3-star 12-2 and 2-star the rest. May switched out Kuki for Yaoyao for future runs. Take it easy.
what really makes me angry is when those beasts knock you back and you start falling on top of them and now cuz Hoyo's game can be as bull shit as those beasts you get stuck mid air falling on top of the beast and cant get unstuck for like 5-ish seconds u also take dmg btw if they hit you gj mihoyo fix that please
This abyss is definitely the most difficult when it comes to clearing it with just one team for each side, but it seems a bit easier again if you pick specific teams overall, because as you said, one half is not needing as much dmg but mostly shieldbreaking abilities... as for what i personally used, in the first half my new favourite team: yae, kazuha, kirara and fischl and on the second half something unorthodox i've never thought i'd play or get through with in other abyss as i refuse to play xianling and my thoma is only built with tons of ER and HP for wanderer, the team being: kokomi,zhongli, benett, nahida zhongli is built with burst damage in mind, shield is strong enough at 28-30k hp, kokomi could just be replaced by xingqiu, but i have her build as strong driver, she was responsible of the constant onfield damage against the manifestation and the heralds pre shieldphase, bennett just has the best pyro application with reasonable ER requierements as solo unit (c6), sadly was unable to avoid using the third op unit, nahida is only really here for the autopilot dendro application... it's hard to replace her, it definitely does cost time if you do
Sunfire jean is actually really good against those heralds and the last boss after the 4 beasts as well. It can.break the "avatar-like" shield decently if u dont have a burgeon team comp
It's kinda funny, people used to complain that abyss lack engaging, and they'r sad that they only have to invest in 2 team and still clear abyss, make it unnecessary to build other chars. But then the game force them to build a burgeon team, people call it's bad cause it's niched
Well I think it's more to do with resources. The general guide for abyss basically tell you to build 2 strong teams. Sure, there's some advice to diversify your characters by always getting new 5 stars, but most people usually pull units to make their current team better. Hyper investment. Old F2P players can kinda cope by shifting artifacts and weapons around, but newer players will definitely suffer. This abyss is basically a slap in the face for people who have hyper invested into their favourite teams that were unlucky enough to not be elementally favoured.
@@ThisLuvee ye I can feel that, I always suffer with abyss whenever they put 2 hydro heralds in floor 2 since I dont have good cryo chars build. I just feel weird when endgame people complain that abyss doesnt provide them the reason to min-max chars, but then they give crack monster high HP, boss with niche mechanics so players have more reason to play other chars, people complain. I think the only way to satisfy the hardcore is when MHY release a " hard floor " without primo reward for them to play, but then the player would still complain for no reward. I dont know what can satisfy the endgame players anymore
Those were some loud minority, majority of the playerbase didn't ask for it , genshin is a big game aimed towards people with lives , so the majority casual players don't really interact much and the loud lifeless guys get all the cloud

I remember when I could clear it with suboptimal builds and teams that werent made for the abyss rotation by managing my attacks and enemy AI manipulation... but now? that is not doing shit unless I have the very specific teams and builds for it, fk that shit, and I'm both a day 1 player and a combat enthusiast Oh and the worst offense is that it gets waaay harder and makes us lose a LOT more time, but still refuses to give more primos.... why?
For the people complaining, I'm not sure what endgame content they want. We get to use our high DPS, strong shields and heal which we had no use in overworld exploration. Asking for more challenging content but then complaining that you get killed easily or require more DPS? Yes I do get annoyed getting killed but I have time to try stuff for few weeks
You came to the wrong place, because we're all "complaining". Some of us have been putting up with challenging abyss cycles all year, they keep getting worse. Grow some balls and realise that this abyss is not challenging, but it's too element and character specific, if you don't have certain 5 star characters you can kiss 36 stars goodbye. Hoyoverse messed up, they don't need you defending them.

@@beenwk4194 definitely need some 5 star dps or support but I don't think it's too niche to the point requiring specific characters (yet). Those asking for endgame have multiple 5 stars with different elements, and probablyfew of the "mata" characters. Just have to use characters other than their usual favorite (my poor hutao with homa...).
I stopped playing just after nahida but seeing just how much everyone is suffering with the new abyss is making me want to play again and try it for myself
Difficult games are fun, I had a great time with this current abyss. I'm not really sure why people are complaining that the only hard content in the game is hard tbh
@@Zephyr77 Its not really because its difficult its more due to it needing very specific teams (especially the bottom half). There is too many elemental sheilds in the bottom half that need to be taken care off. Many teams just can't break the sheilds. With the limited resin and some people not having specific characters there is no option but to skip the abyss.
Unpopular opinion but this is by far my favorite abyss because how frustrating it is. Usually it takes me a few hours to finish but this abyss took me 3 days. I’ve never been so relieved when I got 36 star in this abyss 😭😭
Childe national botton half is pretty chill. The xiangling / bennet can apply so many U's of pyro that the hydro shield from the abyss dudes just fades away, and kazuha also has heavy attacks on his E. Top half is a pain though. Used eula + zhongli top half but you need both high DPS and survivability to pass 4 consecrated beasts. Any team can work on third chamber first half as long as it's your strongest team and you have a super well built support or maybe even two. First chamber first half is by far the hardest to get a good time, but it's easy to cheese with dendro + electro + anemo, as long as you have a standby electro + standby dendro { yaoyao, fischl, raiden, yae, collei, dendro traveler, nahida, etc } and any anemo that can group { sucrose, kazuha, venti. Yes sucrose is usable but you need to position yourself a bit well to work, instead of just pressing your skills }.
Yeah, I'm calling BS on that. First time I tried using Raiden, Yelan, Xiangling and Bennett in 2nd half and the Hydro shield was not going down in time. And Raiden actually does something for the Hydro shield, so it's extra elemental applications and still not enough. Unless you also used Kazuha to swirl the Cryo and Hydro lectors together, but Bennett + Xiangling is FAR from good enough to deal with Hydro shield, they barely make a dent. Literally everyone in the comments is using Dendro (Nahida usually) a Pyro and a Hydro character in 2nd half for smooth sailing
Top half was pretty easy (Yae aggravate, if you have her), but the bottom half was a pain. Just reliant on too many elements. And yeah, burgeon would be the obvious choice, but that requires having a burgeon team, and that isn't one most people care for. Also means we, like with the previous Abyss lineup, have a situation where you want dendro teams for both the top and bottom halves. Anyway, I wound up tailoring my bottom half team slightly, over two runs, using Xiangling to make chamber 1 easy, and then Kokomi instead for chamber 3. My usual team lineup with Fischl as the 4th would have worked as well, since Kuki is also on the team, and 2x electro breaks the shield fast enough. Heck, if I had Kaz for a bit faster top half clear, the Xiangling variant would have gotten it done, with just Kuki to break the pyro shield.
i used hu tao, yelan, nahida, baizhu.... just put right elements in your team and its fine, you dont need "THE BEST BURGEON team". try to be more flexible

Burgeon is an easy answer, since it combines the right elements with pretty good damage, but, again, it is something most people don't have a team for. Potentially not a built pyro for it, not the right gear, no experience at playing it, etc.. Overall, it's just an annoying abyss. Especially for newer players. I mean, you're "flexible" team consists of 4 five stars, and three of them are considered power-houses. Mine, by the way, used only 2, and one of them was Dehya. I think, if someone needs to be more flexible, it probably is the guy running a collection of the most meta five stars, rather than the one having fun with Dehya. Anyway, the problem that arises for newer players is that they need teams that have the right elements, that can also deal with all the other annoyances of this Abyss. And while that's not an issue for a longer term player, it is for a newer one, especially when coupled with high hp totals. Which, thankfully, the Baptist doesn't have. So once you get 3 stars on the first two chambers, it's pretty easy to kill him fast with a team that has the right three elements, while only really needing one good source of damage. But being forced into three elements isn't making people very happy. Hence why the official Genshin Discord has a lot of people bringing up the "anxiety" quote.

Yeah, this abyss is tremendously difficult. My first few attempts with "normal" teams were fruitless as I searched for a combination that could deal with the Hydro and Cryo Heralds as well as the Thunder Manifestation in a reasonable time. Also, after trying Hu Tao on the first half, I saw that a single target dps was not gonna cut it there. In the end I found two teams that made it honestly quite easy. 1st half: Raiden, Kazuha, Kuki (healing build), Yae. 2nd half: Hu Tao, Zhongli, Yelan, Nahida. Kazuha and Yae dealt very well with the constantly teleporting whopperflowers and grouping the doritos. Nahida was necessary for the hydro shields, and she helped a ton by enabling burgeon. Zhongli was invaluable as well, I spammed his burst off cooldown against the heralds to mitigate their BS wombo combos, and combined with his shield, it was simple enough to get through. So yeah, this abyss sucks for any f2p players for sure, but I enjoyed it, since it made me play unconventional teams for a change. I mean, I never imagined Burgeon Hu Tao could work, but it certainly does. FYI, most of these 5 stars aren't particularly necessary, Fischl can replace Yae, Xinqiu can replace Yelan and Dendro MC could probably replace Nahida, though she is a massive upgrade, Yoimiya (maybe yanfei/klee/diluc) can replace Hu Tao and your best dps can probably replace Raiden and still be able to 36*. Zhongli and Kazuha are nearly a must this time tho imo.
Honestly I didn't struggle with this 12-1 as much as the previous 12-1, my team for the second half was yelan, nahida, kazuha and bennet. Yelan is j there for the dps before their shield procs, and the kazuha+bennet combo absolutely destroys the freeze herald shields, since bennet's burst can cause kazuha to be inflicted with pyro, kazuha's burst can double to bring down both freeze herald and hydro herald's shields. For the hydro ones nahida can decimate with the dendro cores, or better yet with burgeon. Hope this gives ppl who are struggling some insight!
The number of viable teams for this one is pretty low. When looking at the enemy list, my first thought too was "quicken/aggravate + burgeon second side". Though, I ended up using Yae quicken + melt Ganyu for the first 2 chambers, then running it back and 3 starring the third with Ayaka freeze and hyperbloom + Dehya.
I used C2 Raiden/Yae Miko/Kazuha/Baihzu first half and The same burgeon team as IWTL on the other half. All using over two years worth of artifacts, talents and builds. I gotta say it was not a breeze. For a long time abyss 12 is designed not to be fun, but to be annoying? Rewards don't balance out the effort at all. Half of gameplay is getting frozen and pushed around all the time. This reminds me of the Ruin Serpent abyss we had some time ago. Made to be annoying over anything else.
I finally 36’d after sooooo many tries. Ended up with 1st: zhongli Kazuha yae raiden (8:24) and 2nd alhaitham hyperbloom with Bennett so no burgeon but it worked perfectly, this was only for 12-3 tho Edit: Venti grouping the doritos is broken I love our bard
The "excessive anxiety" the hoyo devs are worried about doesn't come from the game being hard, it comes from the enemies being poorly designed and them being at high level really showcases all of their flaws. The consecrated beasts have body-blocking hitboxes that push you away and keep you at a range that prevents you from hitting them with melee weapons (an invisible forcefield that pushes you away) during certain attacks and it is unbelievably frustrating when you need to group them together and hit them with everything you've got. Abyss Mages/Heralds/Lectors/Baptist having shields that have a COOLDOWN ON HOW FAST YOU CAN DAMAGE THEM IS THE WORST IDEA I HAVE EVER SEEN IN A VIDEOGAME. WHO THOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD IDEA TO PUT A COOLDOWN ON DEALING DAMAGE TO AN ENEMY. YOU GET PUNISHED FOR OPTIMIZING YOUR ATTACKS. IF YOU SHOOT TWO CHARGED BOW ATTACKS BACK-TO-BACK AT A SHIELD, IT DOESN'T WORK. WHAT THE HELL? I 36*ed this abyss with F2P Zhongli/Raiden/Bennett/Eula and Kazuha/Yelan/Diona/Yoimiya. It was terrible. The enemy design in Genshin is a problem. I had infinitely more fun fighting Malenia at RL1 than I had doing this abyss.

If you guys think this is difficult watch as Hoyoverse Future Abyss's unfold with Fontaine coming , I wouldn't be surprised if they make these enemies rn look like a Joke compared to them. It's also possible that the next meta isn't Em like the one in Sumeru does it will be Survival impact.
Who knows, maybe Mihoyo will hire another company to design enemies that aren't complete garbage. Only decent addition has been the large Hilichurl variants, literally 90% of the entire enemy roster is a 3/10 at best.
In 12-3-1 what made my life much easier was: 1. bring a team with considerable collateral dmg (any national variety, I think Nilou bloom too, taser, Alhaitham teams, etc). 2. It's not just a matter of sticking close to the hydro croco, but of IGNORING the dendro beast completely. From what I could tell, the hydro croco loves to run away from you, while the dendro panther thingy likes to pounce on you. So when they spawn and throughout the fight, position yourself in a way that the hydro croco is in front of you and between you and the dendro panther. Then unload everything you have on the hydro croco. While trying to pounce on you, the dendro panther will actually end up pushing you and the hydro croco around together, and your collateral damage will also kill the dendro beast while you're focusing on the hydro one. That said, you'll need to try dodging some of their worst hits too, but as long as you have a healer that can sustain you to face tank one hit or another, you'll do fine. The dendro beast relentlessly attacking you will also end up pushing you out of the proper position with the hydro croco between you and it, so you will have to reposition a few times, just make sure you do it to keep the hydro croco close to you at all times. For some reason, the constant barrage of attacks of the dendro beast seemed to have somewhat staggered the hydro one too, it was simply weird. Whenever I focused both or the dendro one, the hydro one would stay a mile away sniping me with its hydro attacks. In melee range, the croco didn't do nearly as much as it could do from a farther range. That said, the croco does have a nasty tail swipe and a cleave bite, so try to do it like the typical dragon boss fight from WoW: stay clear of the head to not get blasted with fire (water in this case) and cleaves and stay clear of the tail to not get flicked by it; stick to its sides, where it doesn't attack a lot.
Nah this consecrated beast is about the skill, y'all complained so much about enemies like went who stalls and just pure dps check. Consecrated beast doesn't have stalling mechanic which is good for me
@@H2Ocup The game is literally screaming at you to use burgeon damage doesn’t matter much at all on second side. You can use dendro hydro pyro and then an electro like Kuki as hyperblooms will shred the hydro lector faster. Xiangling, Klee, Hu Tao, Diluc, Yanfei, Yoimiya, Bennett all do great against the cryo shields and alongside Kuki it’ll shred quicker. Hydro we have Mona, Ayato, Kokomi, Yelan, Xinqiu, Childe and they will help make bloom cores to hyperbloom and destroy the pyro shield of the boss on 12-3. I swear so many m this community runs around like a headless chicken as soon as we get hard content that can’t be brute forced by National and hyperbloom. The second side enemies have such mediocre HP too that damage barely matters so it doesn’t matter what team you bring as long as they have okay synergy together with good shield break. First side basically any team flies through it besides Bennett since the consecrated beasts destroy teams that use him easily.
@@H2Ocup Also the shield enemies aren’t stalling….you literally can view their shield as another health bar except damage doesn’t matter, elemental application does. They don’t stall you like Wenut, having a shield isn’t stalling and the last boss has shields that are weak asf that I wouldn’t consider that stalling either
WELL I 9 STAR'D IT. i didnt even know going in and out and changing teams was a thing you could to go back and get different floors.... thx to the comments here i learned that. never needed it, but now i know. i was able to 8 star it my first run, but i had to recomp my teams to make it easier. im sure if i spent the time and effort i dont have i could 9 star it in one go, but i dont give a F about this game anymore. isnt that good, took me 40 minutes to clear it, usually only 20 minutes. Playing without a shield is suicide in 12-1-2 and 12-3-1, i need to i-frame accurately or die in 1-2 hit. Atleast its more enjoyable.
People say the babptist is a joke but i simply cant do enough numbers to kill him. Running hutao XQ nahida zhong like everyone else. Heck , saw a diluc doing it but i cant ? Every one of these units have served me well until today
The abyss right now felt more like abuse relationship from a partner that you didn't want to parted with It's freaking terrible, not even a nilou team with nahida, traveler and barbara break those beast, they really pain in the ass to deal with
I also used Nilou's team in 1st half, even if we have the chicken and the beats that have resistances. But the difference is I used Xingqiu and Yaoyao instead of Traveler and Barbara. Nahida + Xingqiu is just core spam. And you also use Nilou's circle with Yaoyao's burst for a million cores and full party heal
I did Yae Agravate on the first half, just melted everything with the fox lady. she is less strong against the beasts but she did the rest of everything eazy It was: Yae miko/Collei/Baizhu/Kazuha Second team was Yoimiya, She suffers on 12-1. But she decimates Electro oceanid and the Batist I was Yoi/XingQ/Zhongli/and Bennett If you are having dificulty 3 staring 12-1, bring this team and 3 star the 2 and 3, then change for eazyer or more dmg to 3 the first, since you don't need to hike until 12-3 on first i just killed the mages, and shield with zhongli and staying inside Benben AOE, it will make you not freeze. then Span Yoimiya, mine killed everything and gave me 20 second of spare from 7:00
I accidentally used Sunfire Jean on 12-1 second half since I was using Jean, Bennett, Xiao and Zhongli. That really helped me to break the abyss heralds shields.
Thank you for this video! I was having a lot of trouble trying to figure out a team for both chambers and their crazy sustainability and coverage requirements. I finally decided to use a YOLO raiden team and a hu tao burgeon team and it worked! I salute you for ending my suffering.
I generally don't have a problem with spiral abyss being hard until it becomes unclearable for people with 4 stars. Once you start literally forcing people to buy new characters, it becomes very scummy to me
small tip for 12-1 we know to dash to the wall when fscing the first wave of whopper plants, but for the 2nd wave, try nudging the cryo whopper toward one pyro plant, then start attacking that pyro plant. they will be somewhat close to each other that way probably. (the cryo plant is stubbond and is less likely to "tp" towards you) for the dorittos, i actuslly found that you should first hit the left one (relative to your position when you first spawn in the abyss). the other two will draw near to you. same for the 2nd wave. this is fairly consistent and i didnt need kazuha to group them at all! however do note im using a bloom team, so maybe the aoe helps reach them as they're still a bit apart.
Hoyoverse is really trying to kill the F2P community. These last few abyss seasons have been such a pain for all the F2P i´ve met. They say they don´t want to give us anxiety but then stuff like this happens... Why. I´ve been playing for and and a half years, my characters are Very good for being a 100% F2P account and yet i barely got 35* this round. This is unfair in every single way.

baizhu hyperbloom first half, international second half are the only teams that i could possibly come up with my characters to clear the chamber 3 element requirements. for chamber 1 you just need any team with venti on top, and something to counter second half
I do really like the fact that after almost 3 years we finally have a challenge, but It would just be to much better if this level of dificulty was floor 13 instead, it would feel much more rewarding just seeing that extra level being way harder than the usual floor 12
nice challenge, it is just ''you can only use THESE characters to win, try doing anything else and you will never make it'' I remember doing all the other abyss with 36* without using kazuha / zhongli / venti / national teams, but now I can't go anywhere near 36 unless I somehow get the artifacts to use the characters the abyss requires me to have built

You don't need all to be 5*. I used Alhaitham(c1), Raiden, Nahida and Kuki for the first team. 2nd is Ayato( c2), Xiangling, Kazuha and Benny. And my Raiden is not even OP LOL. She hits like only 40-50k on her burst. She's just there to keep up with Alhaitham's rotation with her skill.
I think for this abysss, positioning is even more crucial esp for time saving. And ofc dodging 🤣

This abyss single handedly has made more angry than anything else in this game. Its so difficult to make a team that can efficiently break all the elemental shields in the bottom half. Ive been able to 36 star for so long but this. This is nightmare fuel.

Abyss has just become a damage check with a side of screw you to certain team comps and also people arent as lucky as yall with artifacts. This abyss damn near made me quit. I'm definitely taking a break until Fontaine drops. I've been playing since day 1 and have spent a good amount of money on the game and even I struggled to 36 star - I can't imagine how difficult it must be for f2p or bp/welkin players. It's not even the satisfying kind of difficult, just a damage sponge and an element check on the second half. I felt nothing after beating it - no triumph, no satisfaction, just nothing.

nah same. i played since around 1.6 and am a dolphin, i have many chars and most of them are cracked/well built but i haven't been able to 36 star since last 3.6 abyss for the first time. i dont have them time to keep on retrying for hours upon hours.
The worst part is that this will probably be the lineup for floor 12 until Fontaine.

Found out that the invisible ceiling is very high. Yelan got hit and went straight up, took a lot of fall damage. It's my second clip of characters flying in the abyss because of how aggressive the enemies are.

For the 1st time in like 2 years I gave up trying teams that could do all chambers at once and just used a team for 12-1, 2nd half, and a different one for the other two chambers.

It’s basically the same team I 36* it earlier but with XL instead of Zhongli so I got pyro for 12-3. But mono pyro is much better against the 1st chamber.

You know how we used to say that shielders were more of a luxury than a necessity, because you could learn the patterns and dodge? Well, based on the latests Abyss shielders or some other form of stagger resistance have become pretty much mandatory for a clear without tons of restarts.
@@l284l sgreed, using dehya and bennet with ganyu is such a life saver. Never felt more comfy in a ganyu team.
In a way I love it because it's like a slap to those who keep saying ZL is useless aside from the shield. LOL
Aside from anti stagger, having a shield also prevents you from getting affected by CD & stamina debuff of abyss heralds if you get hit by their special attacks.
Same with abyss lectors too, shield can negate their HP & energy drain attacks.
it's still a luxury and comfort pick.
dodging is perfect immunity and bursts too. we have a ton of healers that have been meta for a long time because reaction based damage is irrelevant to the rest of your team's damage and has been more than enough to meet the timer using a single electro character for hyperbloom.
if people cry about how the game is only about damage and then suddenly they give people a reason to use a healer all of a sudden people are pissy about it since they never learned to dodge and ? it's just sad.
@@richardjones8846 i learned to dodge and . sometimes the two sprints do not suffice. sometimes they stagger us when we're out of sprints, especially with those heralds spinning like retards. zhongli makes my 12-1-2 easy peasy. only for that chamber tho, the rest I did without zhongli.
It is by far the hardest. When you absolutely need Nahida and Kazuha to complete it, that really means that is hard.
You don't need Nahida & Kazuha to get fullstar. 4-star characters are enough, but you need their constellation.
But yeah I agree, this Abyss is the hardest one. It took me almost 3 hours to get 9 stars on floor 12.

After got 36 stars in every season for so long. I was destroyed in 12-1-2 by those abyss herald freeze combo, not even pass 1st chamber.
And with your guide, it help me let this abyss go more easily. I think I can happily find 150 primogems elsewhere.

the trick is to finish up the hydro abyss herald. And to do that fast, you definitely need dendro
me too my yoimiya got destroyed in first chamber before i even got the chance to use her in 2nd and 3rd chamber to let her clear 1st floor i had to use both my bennet and zongli so that she won't die by those abyss heralds 😭
Literally the hardest abyss by far, after getting full stars for 25+ times in a row this is my first time that I will not 36 star it. The amount of time and effort it takes just to get an extra 50 primos and 25k mora just doesn't seem worth it to me

I struggled with Chamber 1's heralds more than Chamber 3's beast. The cryo heralds ice spikes burst through my bennett heals paired with the continuous freeze. The beasts were easy as I observed that when you try to target the hydro one first, the dendro one follows and they are then grouped together, the Inquisitor was the easiest opponent if you follow the rotation properly. My team was Mono Geo with Fischl for the first half and xinqiu-xiangling-nahida-bennett for the second half.

I used the exact same thing for 2nd half, with a more EM focused Xiangling (close to 600 ish before Nahida's burst).

your issue was going mono geo with phys fischl (ik it has some niche situations but no thanks) i literally just use any national/raiden team with one or two 5 stars so i can dodge attacks by triggering their burst and then zhongli with black tassle carries my spread nahida yae fischl team thru the top half but i needed burgeon to 3 star bottom of chamber 1 because of trying to survive being frozen lol

Hoyo doesn't want to add different endgame content because they don't want to make more anxiety inducing modes.
Instead, they've decided to focus all anxiety into the abyss to really fuck anyone that wants to have fun with the combat.
This is actually a really sneaky ploy to drive away everyone that is interested in the combat so that they can be lazy with character kit designs like dehya and make them just viable for the casual content.

What I hate the most about the recent abyss, is that if I wanna actually do good I need to make and also revamp 2 new teams cause cryo hasn’t been on the upper end recently and phy dam sadly can’t do super mega numbers fast enough
The design has definitely slowly steered towards building teams of every element, I feel like ever since around the time the thunder and geo wolves were introduced. Before that point, they'd usually only have one or two immunities per side, but since then they've pretty much been happy to force highly specific teams
It sucks that cryo keeps getting the short end of the stick. I'm mostly mono-cryo that sometimes get forced to do freeze and the bias with dendro is starting to really get old. It sucks I need to be forced to play dendro or multi-element teams now.
They defo trying to reduce cryo efficiency but ayaka freeze still work for every single abyss til date, not only work, it's still one of the best team comp, last abyss bottom half easily clear with ayaka freeze despite having an invisible dorito boss (just wait it out and burst it in 2 rotation, should be less than 90s), this abyss ayaka freeze easily clear top half (not even close), even on wenut abyss ayaka freeze easily clear the damn wenut (wenut is pretty trash boss once you know how to counter it). The line of character freeze team have is so superior even with abyss design for you to use dendro, cryo still prevail.
Ayaka is of course pretty good, never bad. Too bad you can't say the same for the other Cryo variants.

I was stressed out doing this abyss but looking back at it now it's finished, it reminds me of the early days when I first started getting 36 stars in the abyss, when it wasn't just another chore to complete after a refresh, when strategy mattered, when gameplay mattered, when the game was a challenge.
Idk, I'm not even going to get a single star on floor 12 on my f2p account but it is kinda refreshing to be pushed on my main account again

I used on first half Baizhu, Raiden, Kazuha a Yae (C1)
And used on seccond half Nahida (C2), Xiangling, Bennet and Yelan (C1)

Burgeon is definitely the best option for second half. But I got weird with it using a Hutao, Xingqiu, Nahida team to do it. Worked surprisingly well.
If it's any help to anyone: I'm an f2p mobile player, with medium invested artifacts/builds, and have 36 starred this abyss using these characters on floor 12:
Top half:
Nahida C0 (4pc Deepwood, hybrid EM and crit build with Sacrificial fragments);
Kokomi C0 (4pc Ocean Hued Clam set with HP/Healing bonus main stats);
Raiden C0 (4pc Gilded, full EM build with Dragon's Bane);
Yelan C1 (4pc Emblem, Favonius bow, classic build).
Bottom half:
Yaoyao C1 (4pc Deepwood, Favonius Lance, focus on HP%/healing bonus and with at least 50% crit rate/200%ER);
Xingqiu C6 (4pc Emblem set with Favonius sword, standard build);
Bennett C5 (4pc Noblesse set with emphasys on HP, Healing bonus and ER - you'll need it!);
Xiangling C6 (4pc Emblem set with The Catch, standard crit/atk/em build with a lot of ER).
For the top half any hyperbloom or invested hypercarry team will do, provided you can really brute force it and shield/heal through the agressive lectors and beasts. Hyperbloom is nice beacuase it's very easy to build and also has extremely high base damage, plus the hyperbloom seeds even follow moving enemies.
Yaoyao National was by far the best burgeon team I've tried during this abyss. Other burgeon teams like Thoma burgeon (Nahida, Xingiqu, Bennett and Thoma) simply didn't have enough single target dmg against the final boss. However, Yaoyao, Xingqiu, Bennett and Xiangling all have fantastic elemental application and excellent damage output, so it was much easier to kill the final boss.
Just make sure that your healers and shielders have enough healing and shielding power. And make sure you have enough ER on everybody, so you can have smooth rotations. Having poor burst uptime is a huge dps loss!

This is the hardest Abyss 12 ever for me. Had to quit so many times to bring a different team for the 1st chamber. I ended up doing it with 1st half Wanderer ZL Yelan Faruzan and 2nd half Ayato Bennett XL Kazuha. Pretty scuffed but I managed to break the Hydro shield with Swirls from the other two. But then I had to change again for 12-3 because my top half team wasn't doing enough to the Consecrated Beasts.
The condition keeps getting terrible and terrible yet the reward remains only at 600 gems…
12-1-1 -> The doritos can be grouped by running towards the left dorito (dorito on the right is forced to move towards you). Sucrose can also be very helpful here.
12-1-2 -> The Cryo Abyss Mage has Thorns Effect , applying Cryo to yourself whenever it is attacked (it is enabled ~1s after spawning). Cleanse (Thoma E/Benny Q) can be really helpful here.
The other two chambers are mostly just DPS check (you can force the Thunderbird to stay in the middle, but it requires perfect input)
Yo, those are great details, thanks. I also think running to the wall to group whoppflowers is just waste of time, I was grouping everything just by staying in the middle and using Kazu. Not sure how with Sucrose. How one can 'force' Thunder Manifestation to stay in the middle??? It's not 'Thunderbird', btw, just manifestation, shadow of it.

Theres so much more rng than usual. So many of the enemies can fly across the map but cant be sucked in with kazuha or sucrose making grouping completely rng
First time I've gotten 35 stars since I started doing the abyss. It's not that I can't do it I just do want to deal with it anymore or use 2 different teams for 50 primos.

@@kejuenak3835 Not necessarily. Lots of people with well built characters, dolphin level of investment and a fine understanding of the game still struggled and I've seen very few people only who actually enjoyed the challenge this time.
Hands down one of the most difficult abyss 12 floors we have gotten. To clear the first floor I literally needed to use Kokomi AND baizhi with nilou and nahida in order to kill things quick enough and not get taken out myself 😭

F2P should still be able to clear it the abyss if they have the right fully-built chars.
Tbh the 2nd half for 12-3 is ez with the right combo of char.
Even If you don't have a good pyro build, you can basically wait for the Ice Shield to run out and max dps for the hydro/pyro phases.
The Hydro phase is ez to clear with dendro, the pyro is easy to clear with Hydro. Managed to clear it with a Nilou Team (1st try), which was unoptimal to say the least.
1st Half is difficult however with 4 consecrated beasts. This is where most people run out the timer, I imagine.
I managed to somehow scrape through on my 1st attempt with a completely new test build spread team C6 Kuki- C1 Catch Raiden- C0 Tighnari- Dendro MC team.
1/5 Would not recommend, spent more than 3 mins killing the beasts and my first try at 12-3 only got a single star.
I'd seen people however attempt it with the meme Damage showcase team Bennett-Mona-Kazuha/Sucrose-Insert DPS here* with better results.

Raiden isn't exactly end-game not in the same league as Zhongli/Kokomi/Kazuha/Nahida, at least not without C2, a full crit-stack emblem build, her signature 5* weapon and maybe C6 Sara. She is best battery though.
I’ve never struggled with Abyss and i’ve 36 star since release. This one i actually struggled really hard. Was really rough.
Have been 36-starring since 2.4, but I think I'm defeated here.
Was able to 3-star 12-1 with no healer offense-skewed Morgana + Bennett / XL / Sayu / Kazuha full auto pyro swirl.
Was able to 3-star 12-2 with Aggravate + Hyperbloom.
But 12-3 I'm like a full minute off. Best I can do is 8:20 first half, but I can't deal with Baptist in a timely manner no matter what team I bring.
Got it done! It took 3 good buffs (+skill, +crit, +burst) with 5 seconds to spare, but I'll take it.
12-3 top: Hyperbloom (Yaoyao/XQ/Al-Haitham/EM Raiden)
12-3 bottom: Dendro National (Bennett/Yelan/XL/Baizhu).
Ningguang did surprisingly well in the first chamber second half but then those abyss heralds started perma freezing me
I agree this abyss is horrendous, and completely unfair, but I also feel like we should move away from the concept of everything being able to be done with only 4 stars, which I see a lot of people complaining about in the comments. Spiral abyss, especially floor 12, is for endgame players who should've pretty much maxed their characters to an extent, as well as played for a long enough time to have multiple 5 stars. If you are actually playing the game, and spend your primos normally, you should have multiple 5 stars by now, some which might be meta assuming you pulled on newer dendro characters. We get enough primos to pull a 5 star every patch or 2, so that really shouldn't be the issue. But hoyoverse is also delusional for putting out content they obviously haven't tested enough, or tested correctly
Fun fact jean sunfire with benny xiangling and xingqiu really did good on floor 12 bottom half especially against those heralds and the new abyss boss

1st half: Kazuha, Raiden, Xinqiu, Yaoyao
2nd half: Zhong li, Hu tao, Yelan, Nahida
I use this team and got fairly reasonable clear time. My tips is build Yelan with bunch of ER since her burst uptime is so crucial for applying hydro and buffing Hu tao's damage. And for the last chamber you can delay Zhong li's shield in case the boss cast cryo shield early.
I have yelan can i change xingqiu to yelan
Just have enough ER or use sacrificial bow then ur good to go

It took me 20 battles to 36* this abyss. In comparison, the last two took 12 and 13 battles, respectively.
I used Kazuha, Raiden, Yae, Bennett and Zhongli, Klee, XQ, Nahida on floor 12. Raiden & Nahida C2R1, Yae & Klee C0R1.
Klee burgeon actually felt meta for floor 12 second half 😅. Who could've thought.
For the first half of 12-1, I have a way to group those robot doritos without Anemo grouper for both 2 waves. If you run on to the robot on the left, the right one will likely to move toward you.
Would be cool to see a video about the direction the abyss is going and your thoughts on it, it feels more and more stupid with basically oneshots terrible combinations of enemies, it feels like hoyo are trying to make it more annoying than anything
As always, blessings matter. Couldn't clear it before the daily reset, but after the day changed and got crit rate and dmg on 12-1 and -15def/+40atk on 12-3, it was an absolute breeze, even the 4 beasts!! I did improve my teams a bit admittedly.
To minimize stress in this abyss, do not approach with a 36-star goal, instead to come up with suitable teams for each chamber and with practice, aim for 36-star. Looking at the current banners and the abyss buff, consider pyro/electro/normal attacks. I’m a 2-year F2P and here are the teams I’m trying :
First half - Raiden, Yelan, Kazuha, Zhongli.
Second half - Nahida, Kuki, Xingqiu, Xiangling
Managed to 3-star 12-2 and 2-star the rest. May switched out Kuki for Yaoyao for future runs.

This abyss is definitely the most difficult when it comes to clearing it with just one team for each side, but it seems a bit easier again if you pick specific teams overall, because as you said, one half is not needing as much dmg but mostly shieldbreaking abilities...
as for what i personally used, in the first half my new favourite team: yae, kazuha, kirara and fischl
and on the second half something unorthodox i've never thought i'd play or get through with in other abyss as i refuse to play xianling and my thoma is only built with tons of ER and HP for wanderer, the team being: kokomi,zhongli, benett, nahida
zhongli is built with burst damage in mind, shield is strong enough at 28-30k hp, kokomi could just be replaced by xingqiu, but i have her build as strong driver, she was responsible of the constant onfield damage against the manifestation and the heralds pre shieldphase, bennett just has the best pyro application with reasonable ER requierements as solo unit (c6), sadly was unable to avoid using the third op unit, nahida is only really here for the autopilot dendro application... it's hard to replace her, it definitely does cost time if you do
Sunfire jean is actually really good against those heralds and the last boss after the 4 beasts as well. It can.break the "avatar-like" shield decently if u dont have a burgeon team comp

Well I think it's more to do with resources. The general guide for abyss basically tell you to build 2 strong teams. Sure, there's some advice to diversify your characters by always getting new 5 stars, but most people usually pull units to make their current team better. Hyper investment. Old F2P players can kinda cope by shifting artifacts and weapons around, but newer players will definitely suffer.
This abyss is basically a slap in the face for people who have hyper invested into their favourite teams that were unlucky enough to not be elementally favoured.
@@ThisLuvee ye I can feel that, I always suffer with abyss whenever they put 2 hydro heralds in floor 2 since I dont have good cryo chars build. I just feel weird when endgame people complain that abyss doesnt provide them the reason to min-max chars, but then they give crack monster high HP, boss with niche mechanics so players have more reason to play other chars, people complain. I think the only way to satisfy the hardcore is when MHY release a " hard floor " without primo reward for them to play, but then the player would still complain for no reward. I dont know what can satisfy the endgame players anymore
Those were some loud minority, majority of the playerbase didn't ask for it , genshin is a big game aimed towards people with lives , so the majority casual players don't really interact much and the loud lifeless guys get all the cloud

I remember when I could clear it with suboptimal builds and teams that werent made for the abyss rotation by managing my attacks and enemy AI manipulation... but now? that is not doing shit unless I have the very specific teams and builds for it, fk that shit, and I'm both a day 1 player and a combat enthusiast

For the people complaining, I'm not sure what endgame content they want. We get to use our high DPS, strong shields and heal which we had no use in overworld exploration.

Those asking for endgame have multiple 5 stars with different elements, and probablyfew of the "mata" characters. Just have to use characters other than their usual favorite (my poor hutao with homa...).

@@Zephyr77 Its not really because its difficult its more due to it needing very specific teams (especially the bottom half). There is too many elemental sheilds in the bottom half that need to be taken care off. Many teams just can't break the sheilds. With the limited resin and some people not having specific characters there is no option but to skip the abyss.
Remember: We're not getting more endgame content because "it might end up creating excessive anxiety". 👍

Unpopular opinion but this is by far my favorite abyss because how frustrating it is. Usually it takes me a few hours to finish but this abyss took me 3 days. I’ve never been so relieved when I got 36 star in this abyss 😭😭
Childe national botton half is pretty chill. The xiangling / bennet can apply so many U's of pyro that the hydro shield from the abyss dudes just fades away, and kazuha also has heavy attacks on his E.
Top half is a pain though. Used eula + zhongli top half but you need both high DPS and survivability to pass 4 consecrated beasts. Any team can work on third chamber first half as long as it's your strongest team and you have a super well built support or maybe even two.
First chamber first half is by far the hardest to get a good time, but it's easy to cheese with dendro + electro + anemo, as long as you have a standby electro + standby dendro { yaoyao, fischl, raiden, yae, collei, dendro traveler, nahida, etc } and any anemo that can group { sucrose, kazuha, venti. Yes sucrose is usable but you need to position yourself a bit well to work, instead of just pressing your skills }.
Yeah, I'm calling BS on that. First time I tried using Raiden, Yelan, Xiangling and Bennett in 2nd half and the Hydro shield was not going down in time. And Raiden actually does something for the Hydro shield, so it's extra elemental applications and still not enough. Unless you also used Kazuha to swirl the Cryo and Hydro lectors together, but Bennett + Xiangling is FAR from good enough to deal with Hydro shield, they barely make a dent.
Literally everyone in the comments is using Dendro (Nahida usually) a Pyro and a Hydro character in 2nd half for smooth sailing
I am seriously thinking of C6ing my bennett after TWO YEARS just to get past the shields of that MFS
Top half was pretty easy (Yae aggravate, if you have her), but the bottom half was a pain. Just reliant on too many elements. And yeah, burgeon would be the obvious choice, but that requires having a burgeon team, and that isn't one most people care for. Also means we, like with the previous Abyss lineup, have a situation where you want dendro teams for both the top and bottom halves. Anyway, I wound up tailoring my bottom half team slightly, over two runs, using Xiangling to make chamber 1 easy, and then Kokomi instead for chamber 3. My usual team lineup with Fischl as the 4th would have worked as well, since Kuki is also on the team, and 2x electro breaks the shield fast enough. Heck, if I had Kaz for a bit faster top half clear, the Xiangling variant would have gotten it done, with just Kuki to break the pyro shield.
i used hu tao, yelan, nahida, baizhu.... just put right elements in your team and its fine, you dont need "THE BEST BURGEON team". try to be more flexible

Burgeon is an easy answer, since it combines the right elements with pretty good damage, but, again, it is something most people don't have a team for. Potentially not a built pyro for it, not the right gear, no experience at playing it, etc.. Overall, it's just an annoying abyss. Especially for newer players. I mean, you're "flexible" team consists of 4 five stars, and three of them are considered power-houses. Mine, by the way, used only 2, and one of them was Dehya. I think, if someone needs to be more flexible, it probably is the guy running a collection of the most meta five stars, rather than the one having fun with Dehya.
Anyway, the problem that arises for newer players is that they need teams that have the right elements, that can also deal with all the other annoyances of this Abyss. And while that's not an issue for a longer term player, it is for a newer one, especially when coupled with high hp totals. Which, thankfully, the Baptist doesn't have. So once you get 3 stars on the first two chambers, it's pretty easy to kill him fast with a team that has the right three elements, while only really needing one good source of damage. But being forced into three elements isn't making people very happy. Hence why the official Genshin Discord has a lot of people bringing up the "anxiety" quote.

You also can't proc a lot of effects because of their shields like Favonius weapon, sacrificial reset, Raiden's E and I'm sure a few other.

Yeah, this abyss is tremendously difficult. My first few attempts with "normal" teams were fruitless as I searched for a combination that could deal with the Hydro and Cryo Heralds as well as the Thunder Manifestation in a reasonable time. Also, after trying Hu Tao on the first half, I saw that a single target dps was not gonna cut it there. In the end I found two teams that made it honestly quite easy. 1st half: Raiden, Kazuha, Kuki (healing build), Yae. 2nd half: Hu Tao, Zhongli, Yelan, Nahida. Kazuha and Yae dealt very well with the constantly teleporting whopperflowers and grouping the doritos. Nahida was necessary for the hydro shields, and she helped a ton by enabling burgeon. Zhongli was invaluable as well, I spammed his burst off cooldown against the heralds to mitigate their BS wombo combos, and combined with his shield, it was simple enough to get through. So yeah, this abyss sucks for any f2p players for sure, but I enjoyed it, since it made me play unconventional teams for a change. I mean, I never imagined Burgeon Hu Tao could work, but it certainly does. FYI, most of these 5 stars aren't particularly necessary, Fischl can replace Yae, Xinqiu can replace Yelan and Dendro MC could probably replace Nahida, though she is a massive upgrade, Yoimiya (maybe yanfei/klee/diluc) can replace Hu Tao and your best dps can probably replace Raiden and still be able to 36*. Zhongli and Kazuha are nearly a must this time tho imo.
Honestly I didn't struggle with this 12-1 as much as the previous 12-1, my team for the second half was yelan, nahida, kazuha and bennet. Yelan is j there for the dps before their shield procs, and the kazuha+bennet combo absolutely destroys the freeze herald shields, since bennet's burst can cause kazuha to be inflicted with pyro, kazuha's burst can double to bring down both freeze herald and hydro herald's shields. For the hydro ones nahida can decimate with the dendro cores, or better yet with burgeon.

The number of viable teams for this one is pretty low. When looking at the enemy list, my first thought too was "quicken/aggravate + burgeon second side". Though, I ended up using Yae quicken + melt Ganyu for the first 2 chambers, then running it back and 3 starring the third with Ayaka freeze and hyperbloom + Dehya.
I used C2 Raiden/Yae Miko/Kazuha/Baihzu first half and The same burgeon team as IWTL on the other half. All using over two years worth of artifacts, talents and builds. I gotta say it was not a breeze. For a long time abyss 12 is designed not to be fun, but to be annoying? Rewards don't balance out the effort at all. Half of gameplay is getting frozen and pushed around all the time. This reminds me of the Ruin Serpent abyss we had some time ago. Made to be annoying over anything else.
I finally 36’d after sooooo many tries. Ended up with 1st: zhongli Kazuha yae raiden (8:24) and 2nd alhaitham hyperbloom with Bennett so no burgeon but it worked perfectly, this was only for 12-3 tho

The "excessive anxiety" the hoyo devs are worried about doesn't come from the game being hard, it comes from the enemies being poorly designed and them being at high level really showcases all of their flaws. The consecrated beasts have body-blocking hitboxes that push you away and keep you at a range that prevents you from hitting them with melee weapons (an invisible forcefield that pushes you away) during certain attacks and it is unbelievably frustrating when you need to group them together and hit them with everything you've got.
Abyss Mages/Heralds/Lectors/Baptist having shields that have a COOLDOWN ON HOW FAST YOU CAN DAMAGE THEM IS THE WORST IDEA I HAVE EVER SEEN IN A VIDEOGAME. WHO THOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD IDEA TO PUT A COOLDOWN ON DEALING DAMAGE TO AN ENEMY. YOU GET PUNISHED FOR OPTIMIZING YOUR ATTACKS. IF YOU SHOOT TWO CHARGED BOW ATTACKS BACK-TO-BACK AT A SHIELD, IT DOESN'T WORK. WHAT THE HELL?
I 36*ed this abyss with F2P Zhongli/Raiden/Bennett/Eula and Kazuha/Yelan/Diona/Yoimiya. It was terrible. The enemy design in Genshin is a problem.
I had infinitely more fun fighting Malenia at RL1 than I had doing this abyss.

If you guys think this is difficult watch as Hoyoverse Future Abyss's unfold with Fontaine coming , I wouldn't be surprised if they make these enemies rn look like a Joke compared to them. It's also possible that the next meta isn't Em like the one in Sumeru does it will be Survival impact.

Who knows, maybe Mihoyo will hire another company to design enemies that aren't complete garbage. Only decent addition has been the large Hilichurl variants, literally 90% of the entire enemy roster is a 3/10 at best.
Then we’d be at a point where only powercreep makes stuff not impossible to clear. I don’t want this to happen at all.
Plausible that it’ll be survival impact given the number of new healers/shieders in the previous banners (Yaoyao, Baizhu, Kirara, etc.)
In 12-3-1 what made my life much easier was:
1. bring a team with considerable collateral dmg (any national variety, I think Nilou bloom too, taser, Alhaitham teams, etc).
2. It's not just a matter of sticking close to the hydro croco, but of IGNORING the dendro beast completely. From what I could tell, the hydro croco loves to run away from you, while the dendro panther thingy likes to pounce on you. So when they spawn and throughout the fight, position yourself in a way that the hydro croco is in front of you and between you and the dendro panther. Then unload everything you have on the hydro croco. While trying to pounce on you, the dendro panther will actually end up pushing you and the hydro croco around together, and your collateral damage will also kill the dendro beast while you're focusing on the hydro one.
That said, you'll need to try dodging some of their worst hits too, but as long as you have a healer that can sustain you to face tank one hit or another, you'll do fine. The dendro beast relentlessly attacking you will also end up pushing you out of the proper position with the hydro croco between you and it, so you will have to reposition a few times, just make sure you do it to keep the hydro croco close to you at all times. For some reason, the constant barrage of attacks of the dendro beast seemed to have somewhat staggered the hydro one too, it was simply weird. Whenever I focused both or the dendro one, the hydro one would stay a mile away sniping me with its hydro attacks. In melee range, the croco didn't do nearly as much as it could do from a farther range. That said, the croco does have a nasty tail swipe and a cleave bite, so try to do it like the typical dragon boss fight from WoW: stay clear of the head to not get blasted with fire (water in this case) and cleaves and stay clear of the tail to not get flicked by it; stick to its sides, where it doesn't attack a lot.

@@H2Ocup The game is literally screaming at you to use burgeon damage doesn’t matter much at all on second side. You can use dendro hydro pyro and then an electro like Kuki as hyperblooms will shred the hydro lector faster. Xiangling, Klee, Hu Tao, Diluc, Yanfei, Yoimiya, Bennett all do great against the cryo shields and alongside Kuki it’ll shred quicker. Hydro we have Mona, Ayato, Kokomi, Yelan, Xinqiu, Childe and they will help make bloom cores to hyperbloom and destroy the pyro shield of the boss on 12-3. I swear so many m this community runs around like a headless chicken as soon as we get hard content that can’t be brute forced by National and hyperbloom. The second side enemies have such mediocre HP too that damage barely matters so it doesn’t matter what team you bring as long as they have okay synergy together with good shield break. First side basically any team flies through it besides Bennett since the consecrated beasts destroy teams that use him easily.
@@H2Ocup Also the shield enemies aren’t stalling….you literally can view their shield as another health bar except damage doesn’t matter, elemental application does. They don’t stall you like Wenut, having a shield isn’t stalling and the last boss has shields that are weak asf that I wouldn’t consider that stalling either
WELL I 9 STAR'D IT. i didnt even know going in and out and changing teams was a thing you could to go back and get different floors.... thx to the comments here i learned that. never needed it, but now i know. i was able to 8 star it my first run, but i had to recomp my teams to make it easier. im sure if i spent the time and effort i dont have i could 9 star it in one go, but i dont give a F about this game anymore. It took me 4 hours yesterday for this shit, 1 on my main and 3 on my second. Though admittedly, it feels rather nice to able to finish it.
isnt that good, took me 40 minutes to clear it, usually only 20 minutes. Playing without a shield is suicide in 12-1-2 and 12-3-1, i need to i-frame accurately or die in 1-2 hit. Atleast its more enjoyable.

People say the babptist is a joke but i simply cant do enough numbers to kill him. Running hutao XQ nahida zhong like everyone else. Heck , saw a diluc doing it but i cant ? Every one of these units have served me well until today

It's freaking terrible, not even a nilou team with nahida, traveler and barbara break those beast, they really pain in the ass to deal with
I also used Nilou's team in 1st half, even if we have the chicken and the beats that have resistances.
But the difference is I used Xingqiu and Yaoyao instead of Traveler and Barbara. Nahida + Xingqiu is just core spam. And you also use Nilou's circle with Yaoyao's burst for a million cores and full party heal

I did Yae Agravate on the first half, just melted everything with the fox lady. she is less strong against the beasts but she did the rest of everything eazy

Second team was Yoimiya, She suffers on 12-1. But she decimates Electro oceanid and the Batist
I was Yoi/XingQ/Zhongli/and Bennett
If you are having dificulty 3 staring 12-1, bring this team and 3 star the 2 and 3, then change for eazyer or more dmg to 3 the first, since you don't need to hike until 12-3
on first i just killed the mages, and shield with zhongli and staying inside Benben AOE, it will make you not freeze. then Span Yoimiya, mine killed everything and gave me 20 second of spare from 7:00

The best tip for this abyss is to relax and discard that 150 primogems from abyss 12. Peace of mind
I accidentally used Sunfire Jean on 12-1 second half since I was using Jean, Bennett, Xiao and Zhongli. That really helped me to break the abyss heralds shields.
I tried it and they just spin themselves to the other side of the room, or you corner yourself & try to face tank them whilst being frozen repeatedly

Thank you for this video! I was having a lot of trouble trying to figure out a team for both chambers and their crazy sustainability and coverage requirements. I finally decided to use a YOLO raiden team and a hu tao burgeon team and it worked! I salute you for ending my suffering.
I don't even bother with floor 12. I clear the floor 11-3, that's it. 150 primogems ain't worth the time and effort especially as f2p.
I know it's only 150 but if you say that for one year that 3600k primo you loose every years ~23 pull it's not so much but ads up real fast

I generally don't have a problem with spiral abyss being hard until it becomes unclearable for people with 4 stars. Once you start literally forcing people to buy new characters, it becomes very scummy to me

small tip for 12-1
we know to dash to the wall when fscing the first wave of whopper plants, but for the 2nd wave, try nudging the cryo whopper toward one pyro plant, then start attacking that pyro plant. they will be somewhat close to each other that way probably. (the cryo plant is stubbond and is less likely to "tp" towards you)
for the dorittos, i actuslly found that you should first hit the left one (relative to your position when you first spawn in the abyss). the other two will draw near to you. same for the 2nd wave. this is fairly consistent and i didnt need kazuha to group them at all! however do note im using a bloom team, so maybe the aoe helps reach them as they're still a bit apart.
Hoyoverse is really trying to kill the F2P community. These last few abyss seasons have been such a pain for all the F2P i´ve met. They say they don´t want to give us anxiety but then stuff like this happens... Why.
I´ve been playing for and and a half years, my characters are Very good for being a 100% F2P account and yet i barely got 35* this round. This is unfair in every single way.

baizhu hyperbloom first half, international second half are the only teams that i could possibly come up with my characters to clear the chamber 3 element requirements. for chamber 1 you just need any team with venti on top, and something to counter second half

I do really like the fact that after almost 3 years we finally have a challenge, but It would just be to much better if this level of dificulty was floor 13 instead, it would feel much more rewarding just seeing that extra level being way harder than the usual floor 12

Idk if this is useful but I did it WITH BARELY LIKE 1-3 SECONDS LEFT with the 20% atk blessing (I uploaded the run btw), with:
First half: c2r1 Hutao 4pc crimson, 64-246 cr ratio, 1.8k atk and 32k hp, c6 Xingqiu 4pc emblem, c0r1 Yelan 4pc emblem, and c0 Zhongli with r5 black tassel and 4pc tenacity.
