- Ablington is a village in the county of Gloucestershire, England. It is located in the Coln Valley and is part of the Bibury civil parish. Ablington is in the Cotswolds designated by Natural England as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The name 'Ablington' is derived from the 'estate called after Eadbald' (personal name Ēadbald + ing + tūn) and is recorded as Eadbaldingtun in 855, as Ablinton between 1209-1509 and Ablyngton between 1286 and 1601.

A great mixture of bird songs again Kevin, although, I am sure those living near the flooded stream would appreciate hearing them! Interesting that the phone box is still original, and the bus shelter is now used as a book exchange. This might suggest the bus route into Ablington is no longer needed? I suggest this as I looked up Savill's site to discover the old farm cottage for sale has a price guide of £795,000. I shouldn't think a bus would be needed.
The Cirencester to Moreton-in-Marsh bus goes through Bibury, which is easily walkable to this village.
Just found, on Rightmove, within a 3 mile radius, a few 1 and 2 bedroom flats and houses for sale for between £135k and £200k. Also some 1 bedroom places to rent for between £680 and £900 a month.
Hi Claire@@clairenoon4070 Thanks for the update. It's great to know there a still places available for everyone looking to work or live in the Cotswolds. An added advantage with a bus service too, is, they can swap a book while waiting for the bus.

Wow this village is just spectacular! Looks like the river Coin is ready to overflow its banks there. Love those old pay phone booths colored in red. Wish I was younger with a lot of money because I loved the Ablington Cottage House you showed that was for sale. I am so in love with the Cotswold's! ❤ Was the last building you showed that had the three gables behind the large wall Ablington Manor? I couldn't tell. The Manor was built around 1590, it is a three gabled Grade I listed building known for its beautiful gardens. If so, I would love a closer look in the summer of it. Thanks Kevin for another magnificent walk in the Cotswold's!!! ❤👍

The Cotswolds but I am biased as I live close by.
I can’t find Ablington on Google maps. (I like to watch where I am on the map as we walk) can you tell us how to find it? (County, maybe? Nearby town?)

Yes it's a nice place but after my first and last visit to the Cotswolds last year I'll not be going back . Durham and Northumberland have much more to offer and it's not fake . Beamish museum has more to offer than any Cotswolds village or town . I suspect Cotswolds tourist awards they are from people who live there . Head north and see the real Great Britain.
Lake district,Yorkshire, Chester and lancashire just to name a few..

It's an area spanning Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire with some of Warwickshire, Somerset and Wiltshire. It has many villages and several towns and has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
