    Once again Rachel, you've chosen a delightful selection of fish for your birthday. The rock hugger, shell dweller and sardine combination make a great, active and entertaining tank - not to mention the perfectly suited hardscape.

    Have bred a fair few cyprochromis over the years. Love watching them drop the eggs from the upper water column and watching the females catch them mid drift.
    1 thing at that size they need lots of feeds they are extremely prone to wasting disease.

    It's great to see you excited about Tanganyikans. I kept aquariums for 20 years and had to take a long break but when I came back I did Tanganyikans because it was one of the biotopes I've never done and always wanted to. It really got me excited to be back to fish keeping and is all I have for fish right now. Searching for ideas for my recently set up blackwater tank though. Much harder to plan out than the tang tanks so far.

    Joey is doing a tank that his viewers are determining the stock and scape. He just said that he may have to order fish to stock the tank since his LFS obviously can't carry every type of fish. I think it would be cool if he ended up buying some of your fish since you two have collaborated before. I don't know about international sales for you, but if that's possible, maybe you can ask him to bring it up?

    Are the Sumbus obligate shelldwellers like multis or brevis, or are they happy with any cave or space between rocks on the substrate?
    All the Cyprichromis look similiar. Why did you choose C. leptosoma "mpimbwe" over other collecting locations?
    What are the water parameters - 8pH and 300 tds? or even higher?
    Gratuitous fish footage - Yay!!

    Hey Rachel! Absolutely love this tank and would like to set up my 40 gallon breeder using this species. I have a question - are you using Rift Lake Cichlid Salts in this tank, and if not, would they benefit from using it? Keep up the great work! Happy Labor Day!!!!!

    • @RachelOLeary
      @RachelOLeary  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not. I haven't found the to be necessary if the tank maintains adequate hardness (I used cichlid substrate that buffers instead)

    • @wendymyers89
      @wendymyers89 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much for your quick response! I guess I won't attempt to use it since my water is already very hard and I am having great success so far not using it in my 2 smaller "test" tanks with a pair of breeding Neolamprologus Brichardi with many babies in one tank and 3 Neolamprologus Longior (which I just love their golden/orange coloration) in my other. I also have a tank ready for 3 Neolamprologus Helianthus that will be arriving tomorrow that I purchased off Aguabid. I guess the old saying "if it ain't broke don't fix it" applies here! Thanks again!
