I think nuanced conversations are important and I think many people live in a black and white world.
In the world of cults, almost all people that stay become involved in illegal actions. Abuse is prevalent & abused people can become abusers.
None of the members of this family are perfect. Christine & Janelle aren’t perfect. I’m pretty sure all the parents have spanked the kids, corporal punishment is standard in this cult.
As far as the Brown family, the abuse in their home that has been disclosed is pretty “mild” compared to some families. Not that any of it is good. But I interviewed a woman whose siblings were chained to their beds and she was beat with 2x4s by her dad.
All the wives are victims of Kody & all the kids are victims of the cult and their parents.
This cult is insidious and their beliefs are horrific. What is on tv isn’t the truth.
I don’t know what happened with Meri & the kids. Paedon swore that Meri hit Mykelti & Mykelti denied this happened. But Kody did hit, paddle and throw his kids. So the primary abuser in the home was Kody.
I am not a fan of any of the members of the family. I report on the show. I report all sides - the good and bad.
I am not a Meri fan for explaining a side of the story.

I've always thought Meri was misunderstood. I'm so glad to hear this detailed speculation of what likely happened to her. Thank you, Katie, for your dedicated research on this topic & the genre of cults in general.
Abuse is never okay but this family situation was ripe for abuse and also for the catfishing situation. These women wasted their lives with this asshat. I wonder where they would be without the show. Would they still be able to get our?
Thank you for pointing out the abuse aspect. I truly believe Meri has done a lot of work on herself and would not be like that again. She was living a very sheltered life and didn't know better, imo. Now she does, and so do they, so hopefully, they will stop the cycle of abuse with their own children.
I am not saying just Meri or woman of cults, be we as women, start being made feel we are not up to somebody's standards that's the start of abuse. I was 20 when it happened to me. He didn't follow the patterns. He didn't apologize or promise it wouldn't happen again. So I thought, hmm I must not be abused, it doesn't fit the pattern. The hits and beatings didn't. It did with the making me totally and unendingly never good enough, that the hits were what I deserved. I kept it to myself, or at least I thought I did. I jumped from one abuser to another one. I am now in a safe space. My husband looks like a neanderthal, but so gentle. If his hands are on my face it's so gentle. He gently wakes my from the nightmares telling me he will always keep me safe. Sometimes you think it can never happen. It does and it means so much more because you know how bad it can be. I am grateful for my hubby and the life I have. I make sure he knows this

When the time comes , I hope she goes after 1/2 of his social security. I believe she was legally married to him long enough to qualify. Just a thought.

She only ELGIBLE to draw, if he dies. And you have to have dependants still under 18. Others wise widow benefits start at 62. Brent married 10 years and not remarried are only requirements.
One particular scene has stuck with me - when Meri asked for help buying her family's house...no money or help for her. She left the house, saying she had to get back to work to afford buying it on her own.
I remember that.👍Also, my heart break for Meri, shortly after Kody and Robyn became legal, Meri asked Robyn if she could take Saul on a trip with her, but was told no. She was used and manipulated.

True. If it is the wife’s role to be submissive to the husband and make him the leader of the family then it’s the husbands duty to provide for his family. I don’t believe it is in anyone’s definition of marriage for one spouse to be put on the back burner whether monogamous or plural marriage. I also think Meri’s marriage is proof that Kody didn’t truly care for any of them until Robyn came along. Meri was loyal to Kody and still he rejected her. The drama with Christine was a show for the camera to make it look like he was betrayed. Kody used his wives for his personal gain (money) and thought he could get by without giving back respect and affection.
She was being selfish, trying to buy that house for herself, and she was not being honest. Either, she knew she was buying it for her mother to live in, and she was not going to run it as a B&B at the time.
They did the same with Jennelle. Only money for Robyn
Kody forced Meri into the divorce. She would have not cried the whole time in the attorney’s office. No one is perfect, so wish Meri a better life. Meri is a strong woman, she needs to celebrate it. Kody did not deserve Meri.
I agree, kody and Sobyn had a plan from the get-go for Robyn to be head wife. Meri had no intimacy with him for years.The cat fishing incident was out of loneliness. She's human, kody, and his only wife arent!

Meri's marriage to Kody cost her many unhappy years. I honestly think she stuck it out because her mother was so devoted to the purl wife culture. Kody knew this and used it to manipulate Meri for decades.
Food for thought about Mary…….. Mary had only one child while the rest kept having kid after kid after kid. She had nothing in common with the wuves. It must have hurt tremendously not being able to have more. She also was an empty nester really early on. She was alone and no one paid any attention. She was expected to attend all births, birthdays etc alone once Mariah left. I think loneliness took a huge toll on her.
I have always felt that Meri was forced into the divorce. It was on TV to look like it was Meri's idea so that Kody could legally adopt Robyn's kids. I knew it wasn't. Meri never got over that, even though she stayed in the family.
I also believe she felt so guilty about the catfishing! She tried to get out & make it up
IF Meri had been an 'only wife' of a good man, what would be to fault her? She's an immaculate housekeeper, she is loyal to her husband and child (and would have been if she'd had 5 or more kids), she worked hard to make money for the family. She even defended Kody's indefensible actions! Still, she would have stuck. If only she'd had her OWN 'good man' instead of what she had. Kody's doing a lousy job with Robin, now that he's her 'only'. He did a lousy job when he had 2, 3, and 4, also. Remember when he used to say he was a 'good husband'? Hahahahaha.
Meri ABUSED the kids.
The only problem I have with Meri is that she was abusive to Janelle and Christine’s children. Not Robyn’s and not for one second do I think she mistreated Leon she seemed like a very doting mother but those other kids are traumatized. I always wondered why Christine always said Meri was not a “safe” person.
We don't know that Meri abused the kids. Many of them love her.
I believe it is more that the three didn't like discipline. And I'm not talking about physical...no one seemed to say.

Merit transferred her frustrations to the kids of the women who took her husband's attention away from her. Not to say what she did was right but we just need to have a little compassion for her. She received a lot of hurt from Kody. She was a very heartbroken and broken woman. No one deserves that.

I have to wonder whether the "catfishing" incident was actually set up by TLC and/or Kody to make more drama , and an excuse to end their relationship while making Meri look bad.
I never ɓlamed her for it. She was left alone by Kody and the other wives, and even her child. She was very emotionally looking for love, not that she even realized it, when this happened. I totally felt for her during those episodes.
Kody calls Meri a friend. A friend would never treat someone like Kody treats Meri. So glad she’s free and is healing and finding what makes her happy.
I have tremendous sympathy for Mary. When you take all of her life circumstances into account I don't see how you couldn't. She is a victim of her upbringing and so much of what happened in her life was not caused by choices she made. She, as well as all the women in these types of awful situations deserve so much better.
I've always felt very sorry for Meri, it's a hell of a woman to sit back and watch all the other wives producing children when she didn't have a brude herself, I always saw a lot of built up pain in her face. But so stubborn to not give up, it must of killed her inside, to be cast aside for so long. That must do something distructive to a person.

I was in a similar situation in that it took my 4 years and two miscarriages before I had my first child and then two more miscarriages. I didn’t become a monster. I treasured the one child I had. Tbh I think Meri also treasured her one kid. There’s a big difference between having one child and having no children.

Cody broke her heart in 1 million pieces when he asked for a divorce so he could marry Robin , they used the excuse of the kids , I think that was just an excuse. She had been married to him for what almost 20 years at that time and then when She gets found out about the cat fishing he totally turns on her, he didnt understand, he didnt even try to understand . Yes, I think she was treated terribly, at times. What did she expect? Liars and deceivers are generally not treated well, once they are found out, especially!
He knew; he just used that as more of an excuse to carry on his plan to stay away from her. He even admitted he wasn’t mad. Again he just didn’t know what he felt. He was already done with ghee. But their religion requires the women stay for the FAMILY. It’s what’s expected. That’s why he keeps saying they’re so wrong not to stay just for the family unit. He actually believes that’s what they are for.

She was loyal to the core. She put up with so much at the hands of those two. I think the betrayal of them not letting her see kooters and sobyns kids was horrendous. She followed the "rules" sobyn made for COVID. She could have seen the kids, down out right ridiculous of them.

I believe if Meri was the legal wife, the family would still be intact. Meri’s ultimate goal was to keep the family together, even if it meant self sacrifice. I agree that Meri is not narcissistic, however, she’s was extremely naive. Meri was no match for a narcissist (Kody) and the sociopath (Robyn).

I'm still convinced that this whole "Meri is abusive" thing and "Robyn saved us from Meri" thing was orchestrated by Robyn. Robyn pretended to be Meri's friend, got secret info, used Meri's hard to get along with personality against her, used her authoritarian qualities against her, turned some of the kids against her and eventually turned Kody against her too. Robyn would go to Meri and get her angry with Paedon for "bullying" Rob's kids, Meri would go yell at Paedon to defend Rob's kids, then Robyn would go to Paedon and tell him how "abusive" and "wrong" Meri was, then Robyn would take Paedon to Kody and make it seem like Meri was horrible to him, making Paedon think Robyn cared about him, making Kody think Meri was awful and Robyn was "protecting" his kids. It's also likely why Christine tried so hard to accept and love Robyn because she thought Robyn was looking out for her kids. Kody then used "Meri's a cheater, Meri's abusive" to spend no time with her, thus giving him more time with Robyn. Paedon and Mykelti have been brainwashed, from childhood on, to believe Robyn "saved" them from Meri. The kids who have the worst relationship with Meri, have the best relationship with Robyn out of all the older kids, that's no coincidence.
Paedon hates Robyn though. So that is one part of the story that doesn’t line up. They were already having issues before Robyn joined the family too.
@@WithoutACrystalBall but he said that "I'll always be thankful to Robyn for saving me from Meri" and he said "I don't blame Robyn... my dad fell in love" and said something about how he doesn't think Robyn's intentions were "bad" she was just looking out for herself and her kids, during the John Yates interview. Those are overly fair and kind statements to make to someone who's basically been the evil step-mother. He could have been saying that just to stay on his dad’s good side but I don't think that he hates her or at least not as much as the other kids do. Everyone has their problems but Ko-Ro bring out the absolute worst in each other, they're both narcissists and are their worst versions of themselves when they're together, their story has no other ending than destruction. I really hope Meri writes a book.
I don't think Paedon likes Robyn. I can't imagine living in a home with that many kids. Those boys were rambunctious and probably could have tried the patience of the pope. I could see her losing her cool and going a bit overboard in the punishment, but we need to keep in mind that she was raised in the same fashion. I do think that she has done a lot of soul searching and wouldn't be that person today. She may have a lot of regrets in that department.

And I agree that with that many teenaged boys it was probably a mad house in there, Meri probably did punish the kids or was harsh with them. What I'm saying is that, Meri was no worse than Kody as far as "punishments" go yet Meri was singled out. I think Robyn manipulated a smear campaign to make Meri seem worse than she was, to make Meri seem like an abuser, like a bad person, someone who can't be trusted. Robyn tried to turn everyone against Meri because she wanted the legal marriage. She had to make Meri seem like a monster in order to get what she wanted, to make Kody go along with divorcing her, to make the other wives not freak out about the newest wife getting the legal marriage. I think that Janelle and her kids were too smart to fall for Robyn's bs which is why Janelle and her kids always seemed to not fully trust Robyn. Christine fell for it for a while, Kody fell for it hook, line and sinker, Mykelti fell for it, Paedon fell for it at least somewhat. Paedon saying Robyn "saved" him are very strong words and as we KNOW, Robyn does nothing that doesn't benefit her in some way. We've seen Robyn's manipulative games first hand, it's not a stretch to believe she turned Meri into an "abusive monster" in some family member's eyes. Afterall, she did it to Preston, the father of her own children, why not do it to Meri? It's something to think about. 🤷♀️
I have never been a fan of Meri, but I have long seen how she was taken advantage of. It's great that you point out how she was screwed out of her divorce by the way that she was manipulated to just hand over her marriage. Cody was already not interested and he and Robin came together to move her aside before working to get her out without Meri getting any of 'Cody's money.' If anyone thinks that is not the case, look at the first thing he said when Christine said she was leaving. He got mad and sad some guy is going to take 'his money'. Then later he says the only thing he is afraid of is being poor. The man cares not for his family. The things he bitches at towards others are the things he does himself, like accusing his son for ruining the family to get his pencil wet. LOL. Wonder where 'that' idea came from.
All valid. I will say that I think Meri came out of the divorce better off financially. She was able to walk away last year and he can't touch any of her assets. She makes a ton of cash and he will be poor soon enough. 😂

I believe that Kody's last act of betrayal was to dismiss the fact that Meri proposed and gave Kody the divorce so he could marry Robyn and adopt Robyn's kids, and then Kody abandoned HER. He wanted nothing to do with Meri except for HER MONEY she brought to him.
Meri hung in for as long as she could and when she saw Kody claiming to be upset Christine left him, but didn't want to fight for her - she probably knew there was no hope.

I concur, both her and Robin realized that Kody really did have feelings for Christine, no matter what he says to the contrary. His reaction regarding Christine leaving was one of a person that was hurt…That is what finally gave Meri the clarity she needed, he was mad as heck about Christine leaving but couldn’t care less if Meri left. When he said that “he didn’t know why she even lives in Flagstaff, that he wouldn’t care if she left” she knew they were never going to be together again.
Cody tells the wives “You can’t not love me.” That’s what kills him. Everybody must love Cody. Christine loves somebody else. Mari always said she would always wait for him. And so did Janelle. The way to hurt Cody is say you don’t care or love him anymore.
It really is Gross how Robyn treated her sister wives. Robyn took Everything. Robyn truly shows how Selfish she is

The divorce was Robyn and Kody's idea. Robyn knew if she ever divorced Kody she could go for half of everything like she did her first husband.
Kody doesn’t want to be a leader because he doesn’t want to be blamed if something goes wrong.
Looking back, I can see just how badly Meri was treated by Kody and Robyn over the years. I don't blame her for being hurt by their manipulations. I hope her life going forward is much happier and fulfilling.
It might be, IF she has learned anything about lying to, manipulating, and sneaking around, in order to hurt others, and or get her way. The jury is still out on whether she is still THAT person...

I have always held a soft spot for Meri. Back in the day when she wanted to go to college, I seriously wanted to reach out and let her know I'd be her tutor. She could do it and have a different life.

Can you imagine being catfished after years of a nonexistent intimate life because your husband is sleeping with at least one other woman, and then have your deepest shame blasted on television over and over and over again? You can't tell me that she wanted that brought up in not just one episode, but several episodes.
I know there are some that believe that Robyn was ultimately behind the catfish, I'm not sure if I do or not, but I am sure that Robyn capitalized it. On one hand she is a friend to Meri and on the other she is manipulating behind the scenes. Meri's so called family took her lowest point and used it for ratings. I have never cared for Meri as a character on the show (since it is all lies, she is a character), but for the catfishing thing, I always empathized with her. Everyone makes mistakes. Her mistake was marrying a man like Kody. She just got fooled by a catfish and the world listened to her private voicemails and dissected every word. And the strong woman that she is stayed and tried to make amends. She remained faithful after that to that.....man (sorry the words coming to mind were not so nice). He makes me sick. He vowed to care for each of his marriages, but he did not. He dangled another baby and then as soon as she agreed he said no. Imagine being her. I feel a lot of compassion for her.
The abusive narrative got me for a hot minute, though. I fell for it. 😅

I have to feel for Meri. I have to think that part of her problems were as a result of the treatment she got from Kody. No one to lash out at in a lot of instances . I think we understand her better the more we learn. Glad she got away. I hope she finds some peace

I also don't believe it was Meri's idea to divorce Kody. And I also don't believe it was all about adopting Robyn's kids. It was also about Robyn being the head wife.
Kidney did NOT have to MARRY Sob-n-Rob-em to adopt her kids. Plenty of unmarried couples adopt kids. That was a lie.
Also, if a child is your dependent, you can insure them. You don't have to be a 'parent' of that child. That was a lie.

I have always had great sympathy for Meri. She was unable to fulfil her expectations of contributing to overpopulatiin the world. To try and compensate she brought evil into the family all to try and win the love she deserved. She stuck with all the degradation and pain to obey her mother's wishes

I agree totally with this. I’ve always had sympathy for her. She gave & gave & gave only to be taken advantage of, made into the villain, and have her be the “cash cow”. She makes the money & Kody (with the true villain Robyn) steal it all away that they can get away with. Good for you Meri for waking up & chasing your happiness. Just because you were raised in this culture & your parents did this, does not make it right or right for you. True faith is taking the leap to get out of a situation in which you cannot control to make the best you you can be
I think the marriage between Kody and Meri didn't "take" from the very first year of marriage. That is why almost from the start, they were out looking for more wives to add. Meri wanted to hold on to Kody and she probably thought that plural marriage was a good way to do just that! She would have been better off ditching him and finding someone that really loved her.

Kody and Robyn took everything from Meri. They lead her on and used her. So happy she finally realize the truth. I can't imagine how much it hurts. But at least now hopefully she can heal.
I really appreciate your insight into Meri and why she is the way she is. I never thought the catfishing made her the wicked one. She was a victim of the cat fisher because she turned to someone on line for the time and affection that she didn’t get from him. He made it into a true affair while he had himself four women, if he wanted them. Of course, Kody didn’t want Meri before that whole incident. No matter what, I feel sorry for her. I’ve always been for Janelle but her situation with Meri allowed Kody to use that to badmouth Meri and blame her for all the problems.

Meri was an abused wife from the second she married Kody. She did everything to save what little scrap of her marriage she had left and hearing Kody call her "friend" would've broken her heart but also given her the strength to get out.
When it comes to the discipline thing, maybe her and Kody's parenting ethos was stricter and more physical than Christine and Janelle's, we know Janelle has always said she preferred being at work than being a mom and that Christine was a "best friend" to all the kids as well as being a mom. So I do believe Christine and Janelle were much more "quiet" with their discipline more talk or time out type parenting than Kody and Meri, but Kody was by far the most abusive. With the kids going after Meri it was probably along the lines of what they had seen of her treatment of Christine and Janelle and her supposed friendship with Robyn, they probably saw her as someone who betrayed their moms and took sides with Robyn and Kody for a very long time, after all she was the one who brought in Robyn, they won't have seen the times she was alone and suffering, wondering how to fix things, they won't have seen the fact that she was in survival mode because she isolated herself from everyone and Robyn and Kody made sure to keep her that way all the time offering just those little tid bits of hope to keep her on their side.
We all saw her heartbreak when she and leon were having problems during the catfishing incident because Meri only had Leon to "be on her side" but Leon had been speaking to the other parents about things and couldn't see what it was doing to their mum.
We saw Meri's heart break again when Leon came out as Gay because she wasn't equipped to deal with that at the time due to her upbringing and beliefs, and then we watched her heartbreak over and over as she was essentially shunned by everyone, especially through covid.
During Covid she did everything that Kody and Robyn said needed doing, she lived alone, stuck to their rules, waited and waited for invites and when she finally got invited for thanksgiving the only thing she always did for the family was taken from her....cooking the turkey....i thought it was brilliant that she made a turkey out of rice crispie treats, but imagine having that one singular thing you have done forever for the family year after year since the very first thanksgiving as a married woman being taken from you by the person you have watched replace you.
The only wife Kody deserves is Robyn. The OG 3 will be so much better off without this 🤡
Being from a DV marriage and a mother that was narcissist and father that SA I know why Meri is a strong woman! It’s a survivor mentality ❤ so her mom and Kody and others just made her stronger, that’s all!! My husband convinced my family I was a hypochondriac after he broke my back in 4 places and caused 3 miscarriages, they died thinking that!! My 2 kids know and I did not tell them😢

Thank you Katie Joy for another insightful, thought provoking video. It never ceases to amaze me that no matter how much of a scapegoat/outcast Kody and the alleged sister wives made Meri, her money was always welcome. What a family!!!!
For some reason, this commentary reminded me of when Meri wanted to go to college and become a counselor for troubled youth (or something similar) and Robyn wasn't encouraging or exited for her at all. Instead, she just cried over her not being able to help with her kids. There's definitely a big problem when friends don't encourage their friends to take such a good life move. I so wanted Meri to follow through with it at that time. It made me sad she didn't. I agree, she got a very raw deal.
I am so sorry about the betrayal Meri has gone through. I just want to only love and care for her now and never be critical of her past choices. What else could she do? Her Mom being gone helps her finally be free, too. I am happy for her. Thanks, Katie.

Meri's mother seemed very sweet, but the pressure she put on Meri with her religious expectations was instrumental in keeping her in a marriage that was destroying her. No one should be bound to ab**e no matter what religion says.
I have never seen Meri as a narcissist. That term is so over used. She's definitely an Alpha though and that doesn't work well in a plural family. I don't think she plays nice with others a lot of the time, especially in the earlier years.

Since she was willing to help deceive the other two wives, and help hide Kidney and Sob-n-Rob-em's affair before they got married, why would she not give the Sob-ster ALL the scoop on those other two, terrible women?? Of course, Sob-n-Rob-em ate it up, and Meri cut off her own nose, to spite her face!
The WHOLE family has lied to us. I do feel bad for Merri. I think what they have all done to her is horrible. Holding a grudge about how a kitchen was organized? Or if an orange had to go into a fridge from when you're in your 20's until you're 50+ years old is beyond petty and disgusting.

The issue was that Meri acted like it was her home and Janelle was an unwanted visitor. She disciplined Christine’s kids harshly. It wasn’t about kitchen organization.

This might sound harsh but after listening to this i immediately associated Robyn with a cockroach or a leach because she really did move in and take everything from all of the ladies especially Meri, she literally lied and manipulated her way into getting everything in the end yet she’s still playing the victim! I totally get why Meri was so angry all the time. I would be too! To see everything you sacrificed and worked so hard for at the detriment of your own happiness and well being just slip away like that to some wolf in sheep’s clothing damsel in distress playing manipulator who comes in and destroys the entire thing from the inside out and then walks away with all the spoils at the end and you are left with nothing! Meri HELPED Kidney and Sob-n-Rob-em lie and sneak around during their affair, before they got married, deceiving C&J, and giggling with Kidney about it! SOOO, Meri's little bid for 'favored wife' status with Kidney, backfired in every way. She tried lying and manipulation to get status/acceptance/favor. Why would she be surprised when they did the same thing to her, that the three of them did to C&J?

There were rumors Robyn had something to do with setting Meri up to be catfished. Meri was in a vulnerable place after the divorce. She was shamed and browbeaten by all of them after that. I felt sorry for her.
I have often thought that Kody and Robyn manipulated Meri into the divorce. If it waa her choice she would not have been so upset.
I'm sure Meri isn't perfect, but none of us are. We see a microcosm of who she really is.

Meri’s obstinacy in the face of Kody’s obvious and cruel rejections just drove me crazy for years. How subterranean could her self-esteem be to put up with that?? BUT, there was at least one occasion when my heart broke for her, and Kody’s coldness became obvious-and maybe it was an unrecognized signal that they were not having intimate relations and their marriage was already disintegrating. At one point in an early season, Meri told Kody that she wanted to try again to carry a pregnancy to term, and essentially was asking for his permission to try to have another child. And he said no. He made some excuse that he was concerned for her health, but it appeared to me that he was primarily worried about the medical expense due to her previous miscarriages. She was pretty broken up about his refusal and I really felt for her, but also wondered why she make more of a case for herself, and why his refusal was so final. It honestly didn’t occur to me at that time that their “marriage” had always been a sham; was always structured to cater to Kody’s priorities and preferences, and never about the wives’ needs and wants. Poor Meri. In a patriarchal cult based on exploiting women’s fertility, she was a near-childless pariah. I think she’s been grieving all this time, and I do feel sorry for her, but can’t help wishing she’d recognized her complicity sooner.
I’ve always understood exactly why Meri was susceptible to the catfish situation. She was SO sad and lonely. But, it bothers me that she has never owned it. She made a lot of excuses, but she never really owned what actually happened. She had 1 foot out the door and was ready to leave them all until she found out she was scammed and she changed her tune . The fact that the other wives shunned her for what she did is sad, but that’s what they do in those cults. It’s gross. I know it seems like Leon should be more supportive, but Leon had to watch this play out in real time and knew their mother was doing the wrong thing by associating with the catfish. I don’t hate Meri but I don’t like her that much either. I think she’s got a mean streak and having said that, I do wish her the best, and I hope she finds the happiness everyone deserves.

I’ve never been a Meri fan but damnit if I don’t consider what she’s been through and change my mind a bit. I try to think about how I would feel and act if I had been put through everything she has. She didn’t stand a chance after the way she was raised and what she was taught to believe. She was ripe for manipulation and narcissistic abuse and Grody gave her the max along with Christine. Meri did what she thought was right by standing by Grody and trying to keep the family in tact. I think Meri is going to change a lot as she grows after leaving this nasty cult and the abuse. I think she has potential once she deprograms and I hope she finds her forever love like Christine did. These ladies deserve better

I’ve always felt for Meri. Was very much the scapegoat. Kody makes it sound like all the kids hate Meri, from what I can see it’s 3 of the kids out of 18? Christine hasn’t always been kind, she’s not saint Christine. She was pretty nasty after the catfish. I remember her telling Meri we don’t want you around, you come with to much baggage. I think Janelle just felt her and Meri were two strong women who clash. Doesn’t make either one bad. Christine I think was jealous and spoiled. I’m happy she’s happy now but I think Meri deserves happiness to. Meri did however mess up by helping bring in Robyn but Kody was hell bent on another wife and anyone coming in would have upset the family due to being fresh meat and Christine would have been ticked no matter who it was because she wouldn’t have been the newest wife. Great point about it being “always the woman’s fault” - which is so ingrained that even though the kids reject the religion, they still play by those rules. With the exception of Paedon, who is imo, a lot like Kody, the older children are more neutral towards Meri. She was in a seat of honor at Janelle’s oldest son’s wedding - right there beside their “second mother” Christine and Janelle. And that was right after the abuse allegations came out. Meanwhile Kody and Robyn sat in the back. I thought that was a pretty clear nonverbal statement of support for Meri.

Merri, like Christine, looks so less stressed now. They both look younger and prettier. I don't think Janell wore her stress on her face like the others did. All three of them are beautiful women who look like they're finally free of you-know-who.
I am glad Meri is finally seeing the light of what K is really like and has done to her all these years. No, she is not perfect. Yes, the kids have their own Meri stories. But there are always two sides to every story. I have been in one of those counseling sessions where the ex husband refused to take responsibility for any of his actions. In many respects Meri is one of Kody's victims. She put up with a lot. Kody should be forced to pay her back for all she contributed to the family over the years.

Thank you, Katie Joy. 😊 I have always rooted for Meri. I felt that the reason she had trouble conceiving was because of who she was as an individual. As you pointed out, the requirements of her faith and duties as a sister wife went against her spirit. I don't know but have always suspected that rage seething beneath the surface was a factor. I stopped watching after her catfish issue. Honestly it was heartbreaking how her own Child was unable to see the lonliness that led to that drama. Meri really never had anyone on her side. No one remembers that Janelle was Meri's Sister-in-law. They were friends when Janelle was married to her brother. I can understand the Anger Meri felt when Janelle divorced her brother and married Kody. Ew. I hope Meri has the last laugh and falls in love with an amazing guy who has thick gorgeous hair!😅

I know exactly what “ready” is like. I faced the most difficult and hardest situation in the past that I stayed in and let slowly destroy me. It took a ton of courage and strength to be ready to fight and overcome it. Once I did I kicked ass I just needed to build myself up and realize I’m worth more than that and I deserve better. These ladies do too! Slobyn gets what she deserves. She’s reaping what she sowed and now she’s all upset cause she got what she wanted.
Not ALL the kids went after her. Three of Christine’s kids and Maddie, Kody’s favorite, went after her. Haven’t heard much from all but 1 son have said nothing bad about her.
