Having your black roses 2 spaces from each other will guarantee you know which flower you get a gold from so you know which flower lost its flag & needs to be re-gold watered.
2:05 If you water it the same exact way he did, it'll use up one durability, since you're watering the 3 dry tiles behind the black roses. Watering dry tiles will actually use up durability, even though there might not be a flower there, just as a heads up for anyone who wants to try and save durability.

Same, was shocked to see new ones, but ain't complaining. There's been times where I did NOT water my black roses with my gold water can, but the rain came in, and the next day, I woke up to new gold roses. Which is why I believe you don't always need the gold water can to make gold roses. Because I've gotten gold roses from just the rain. Which I didn't think was possible.
RadenWA To be more specific it waters tiles of any type of path, so it doesn’t matter if it’s grass or dirt paths, the golden watering can waters a surface of 3x3, the regular watering can only does 3x2, so just make sure to water every tile the golden watering can will water or wait for rain, then everything it’s watered.

Shockingly, I got a gold rose from naturally spawning. I don't have the golden watering can yet (I'm a 4 star still) and I have never bought the golden watering can yet bc of it being pretty expensive that we do bid battles. So I got lucky for it just naturally spawning.

Yep, Already knew all this, Already had hundreds of gold roses! And if you want to take the optimizing Unlimited golden Watering can, We tell it rains and then you don't have to pre water, Just hit them with a golden watering can and you won't lose durability!

Tried this pre-watering and arranging method vs 5x5 and rows. My gold can still broke, so seems whoever reported this was wrong. I do seem to be getting more gold flowers than the other two layouts, so there is that.. I'm close to getting all the gold roses I want so one more gold can should be enough for me either way.
Don't you have to water twice for the gold watering can to save durability? I thought that durability is lost as long as one new tile is watered - since normal cans do 2x3 and the golden cans do 3x3, wouldn't they still lose durability?

I don’t think the “infinite gold water trick” is legitimate. I heard of this trick and tried it out for myself. Despite pre-watering my black roses, my gold watering can still took damage and broke after the allotted number of usage. I was quite disappointed. Since my gold can will brake regardless, I no longer bother with pre-watering my roses.

Abdallah something that's missing here is that the mechanic of visitor's watering your flowers for you results in a significant increase in a chance of flower breeding. Great video other than that and I learned two new things today.
I thought durability was tied to how many new patches of flowers and earth you water, so I'm not surprised about pre watering, but I assumed it would lose durability for those 3 squares that you haven't pre-watered with your normal can.
1 - this isn't entirely true. you don't lose any durability for watering pre-watered flowers but you DO lose 1/20th of a durability point for watering *the ground.* meaning that for every tile in that 3x3 grid the golden can hits, 20 of them are the same as watering one dry flower. so pre-watering (and a dense layout) will definitely maximise your golden can's durability but eventually it will still break - had this happen to me a couple of times already. and while spacing them out allows you to get more offspring per flower and see which ones lost their flag, all that empty space around each flower means more durability lost.
