It's always a good day when we get a drydock update, thanks folks! BTW, thanks for the shout out regarding Mr. Draminski's book, I had no idea it existed and promptly ordered one.
How long does a paint job last on a museum ship that is stationary vs. a ship that his in service and in salt water under power? Very interesting update video! Enjoyed it!
Depends on the paint and the environment she's in. KIDD's in a freshwater environment, unlike many of her Historic Fleet sisters. She's also dry part of the year. However, she's near industrial plants, a major interstate, a major river traffic corridor, and a train track; all of which produce pollution. The versus question, I can't answer. But for our particular environment and foot traffic, about 5-6 years on the sides between main deck and waterline (the least wear and tear). Anywhere the public accesses: less. Walking and touching wears it down, decks especially.
So happy with all the work yall are doing! Heres to getting the rudder back to the WWII configuration!
THANK YOU!!! ❤❤❤
Just found ya'll!!!! Thanks to USS New Jersey for visiting and letting us know you exist!!!
@@masaharumorimoto4761: Welcome aboard!
The kitchen! That's my Grandpa's area.
@@jpsym9: Don't think the Galley was shown in this video. 🤔 Was your grandpa on the KIDD? What's his name?
Thank you all for your work, and the updates! Keep it up, and One Fleet!

@@usskidd661 Thanks for the reply. Does the coating on the deck differ? Is it more a rubberized coating? Or same as the sides?
@@ksorsomeplace: We've added non-skid to the deck paint. But still the same paint.
