I got a text from some random number last winter saying “happy birthday little cousin!” (im born in spring). A few weeks ago, I got a call from some random woman asking why I had her nephew’s phone number. Im convinced there’s a family out there that thinks I’m related to them.
lol people don't realize their numbers get reused for others if you give it up. But I had someone texting my number before and I said wrong number, and they were saying they had the same exact number before. I was confused why i kept getting verification codes everyday lmao, I had to give the dude the code just to be nice so it would stop xD
My work phone gets regular messages for a Than Minh in another city. I know they're not scams as they'll be things like "Your groceries are now ready for collection" no links or anything and always for Than Minh in Victoria.
The only wrong text that I've gotten was from a guy I'm "pretty" sure went to my high school and is a ginger. He sent me a picture of himself with bread around his neck and a sign that said, "ginger bread man." Every other texts that I've gotten have been scams
I've gotten two wrong text messages. The first one was from a Florida Gator fan this past year, asking if I was going to the game, I responded to him with the final score of the game, and said 'wrong number. Go Dawgs!'. The second was while I was in DC, and someone texted me 'Have a good trip to DC!'. To this day I am unsure whether or not it was someone I knew because of the text, or if it wasn't since the person never responded to my reply of 'Who is this and how do you know I'm in DC?'

I answered, and the person on the phone said “Hi, is this [my grandmother’s name]?” So I said, “This is her grandson, how can I help you?” They then said that they’re calling with a neurosurgeon’s office and was wanting to confirm her appointment. So I asked if they tried calling her number directly. Then, the person on the phone said, “Oh, sorry, I got the wrong number, I meant to dial [my phone number, but one digit off]” Then I got into an argument with the person on the phone saying that’s not her phone number, to which they just hung up on me. I tried calling my grandma, no answer. So then, I tried calling this phone number that was one digit off from mine, and it just so happened that this phone number belonged to a woman with the same first and last name as my grandma. Weird ass coincidence.
I was talking to my dad once on his cell and the call was abruptly interrupted mid sentence and suddenly I was talking to someone else, who told me his name was Mike. He told me he had just been talking to his wife, whose name was Diana. Since I have an aunt and uncle with those names, we spent a few very confused minutes determining that we actually didn’t know each other and our calls got switched somehow. I then called my dad back, he said he’d spent a very confused few minutes talking to someone named Diana, married to a Mike, who ended up not being his sister. 😂
