In this video I rebuild and rewind a charging stator from an Onan CCK Engine out of a Simplicity 4040 Powermax Garden Tractor.
This is a single phase stator and the same procedure applies to all single phase stators using on small engines.

    Well done Norman.
I appreciate the fact that you showed how to test the stator before, during and after the rewind.
It's great to see you demonstrate how to repair assemblies like this that many of us probably weren't even aware could be done.

Yes at the end I usually use a 2 part epoxy resin to seal the coils you can easily obtain at any auto parts store for fiberglass resin. Works like factory and cures very fast within 15-20 min depending on how much activator you add to the base resin. The Anderson US Patent show excess power output when winding 2 wires in same slots together as ratio of diameters magnet wire as 1 to 3 sizes. Magnets run 1st coil, magnets already rotating, 2nd coil receives field and outputs, the 1st coil energizes 2nd coil, power additive as no electric is induced to initiate running the alternator as in the car alternators fields .

Ahhhh!! These are an issue on so many of the CCK’s! Lots of guys put alternators on the pmax. I’ve seen some nice jobs done and a lot of hacks too. Kubota alternator seems to be the one to get. These stators are hard to find. Would there be a benefit from more turns? How much I wonder? Guess it could be a super stator with more turns. Another issue with these is missing magnets on the flywheel. Great video!

A couple ways you can guarantee no short to grounds is to use pieces of heat shrink tubing on the "posts" of the stator before winding it, or dip each "post" in Plasti-Dip first and let it dry.

  • @waterfuel
    @waterfuel 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Can't we get higher voltage by using smaller gauge wire, so that each POLE has more turns that react with the rotating magnets. Then the 2 ends can be hooked to bridge rectifier for double current. There is a Briggs unit with red and black wires that has double wires wound in same poles that may deliver more power, as per the Anderson US Patent.

The Sears Suburban 12 is a fine machine, but for a loader, it is short, so you may find it uncomfortable to get in and out of it frequently. The gear shift transmission may also get a little old. But other than that, it would be great for cleaning out pens. I would prefer a hydrostatic transmission machine though. You can always remove the loader and put it on something else in the future.

why do you alternate the winding on each pole?

      To produce alternating current

You don't need to be so neat about the wire wrapping as you have a lot of space between the poles,
and as others suggested, you should put some insulation around the pole before wrapping it.
Without that, the wire insulation will eventually break through and short.

Hi Norman, I’m subscribed to you by junkman6261 and I love your videos. I have a power king tractor that I’m trying to get running and have discovered my stator has old rotten wires as far as the braided wires are concerned. Mine is the 15 amp with two extra coils for breakerless ignition. Do you rebuild stators for customers? If so what would your price be? If I try it what wire should I get and what should I use to protect current wires that the insulative coating may have come off of? eBay doesn’t show any new coils matching mine and I don’t want to spend a lot of money for something that is just as old as mine. Thank you for any help.
    Daniel

Do you have any carb spacers for my K341? I need a circle ⭕️ one to get my filter out from the carb so the backing plate clears my coil

    • @Isavetractors

I don't sorry. I suggest moving the coil, or making a spacer out of plastic or something

I vote to move the coil. Relocating to the firewall on gt’s seems to improve life.

I just did 28 on every single post including the first one only because I don't know if the previous owner tinkered with it by the way it is a 1963 motor I'm assuming it needs a lead gas/additive with some racing fuel or octane booster it's a V6 as well this is the last step I have to do to get this motor running

Just an idea on spares but you might try contacting some of the more mom and pop Thermo King dealers in you areas. Gasoline engines from Onan and Wisconsin were in daily use on transport freezers back in the days before diesel powered Yanmar and Isuzu models. Middle East and Far East is full of this legacy stuff. AENLD, CCK, RCCK etc.
