This is needs to be normalized all over the Equestrian community. Our horses are our partners and they depend on us just as we do them. The sport is supposed to be fun for both parties but many have turned it into something horrific. Not acknowledging that it’s no longer a partnership when they push their horse past what they’re capable of for the sake of a measly ribbon.
This is so true, I've seen many horses abused and taught wrong online and in real life and it ruins them and they just stop caring about them after they stopped winning (Aka I'm talking about my horse Cyprus) he is an OTTB won 7 races and usually placed 3rd,2nd, and 1st, and then he stopped wanting to run and stopped winning. They left his racing plates on too long and his hooves were growing over them, and they sent him to a woman who sells OTTB's to their new homes, she only saw him as a 1000 dollar horse even though he won 163k on the track
I agree 10,000x! Yes, it is fun to jump higher, but it gives you no rights to say you are better than someone else just because they haven’t jumped that high. We’re in this sport for the horses, not for each other’s approval.
