There's a full cycle until a new world cup, I'm hoping more of the old guard gets sat down. I don't see it happening but still hopeful. If Beauden and Savea were properly out for this selection cycle it would be good for NZ rugby.

For the product, like the actual rugby? Yes, probably the most entertaining attacking rugby in the world. For the spectacle? Like the huge crowds, hostile atmospheres, intense rivalry’s? Hard no lol. Super rugby has always sucked at engaging fans, always sucked at promotion and marketing, always sucked at listening to fans and what we want from the actual game day experience. If you’re a rugby purist you will enjoy the rugby though.
Also doesn’t help that the South African teams left, leaving us with the Aussies who continue to be unbelievably unremarkable. Any NZ derby game will be worth the watch though.

For the product, like the actual rugby? Yes, probably the most entertaining attacking rugby in the world. For the spectacle? Like the huge crowds, hostile atmospheres, intense rivalry’s? Hard no lol. Super rugby has always sucked at engaging fans, always sucked at promotion and marketing, always sucked at listening to fans and what we want from the actual game day experience. If you’re a rugby purist you will enjoy the rugby though.
Also doesn’t help that the South African teams left, leaving us with the Aussies who continue to be unbelievably unremarkable. Any NZ derby game will be worth the watch though.

These guys couldn't give an opinion if their lives depended on it, really nice guys but just bloody painful to get a straight answer out of any of them. Both should do almost equal, except in scrum & lineout.
The question is if Savea is 7 or 8, who would add more value to the back row? Papalii, Sotutu or Jacobson? I'd love to see Jacobson 7 and Papalii at 6, but that compromises the lineout. They have to go specialist 6 for the lineout. So I'd go Papalii 7, Savea 8 and Finau 6.
